Welcome to The Left 4 Dead 2 Beta Restoration Project

Introduction

The Left 4 Dead 2 Beta Restoration Project, developed by a passionate team of gamers known as Sourcerer, takes Valve's award-winning Left 4 Dead 2 video game and preserves its history by the remaking the Left 4 Dead 2 Beta, an early build of Left 4 Dead 2 that showcases many unused designs, features, and concepts. This mod pack allows players to relive the unique early Left 4 Dead 2 experience brought to players at E3 2009!

Information

Subscribe to both parts 1 and 2 as they are REQUIRED for play.
Ensure that all other mods are disabled prior to subscribing.
Be advised that the mod's scripts will be at the cost of most base-game functions.
To maintain faithfulness to the original product, you will be limited to Campaign Modes, The Parish Campaign, and Local Servers

Legal

Sourcerer requires that if another content creator wishes to re-upload exclusive content, Gigan, or another developer, must be credited or notified with a valid reason for doing so. This is not only for the protection of our assets, but also for the rightful protection of donated content, as well as Valve assets. If Sourcerer finds any unofficial rereleases without permission, Sourcerer will file for copyright. Not removing the item will result in a report.

@officer_balls This was a subsidiary project that was in development back in 2013. I seized all L4D1 Beta related content in 2014 due to the L4D0 Project. Check our project's website blog for more details on its closing.

@i shit my pants I can assure you that the menu background was never organic to the Steam VPK file. The item may have been linked as a required bonus item a few years back, but that was before we established the enhanced folder in the GameMaps version. Regarding the font, that should be included still, however, you need to do a quick video setting resolution reset on your game (ex. set your video to widescreen and revert it back - the font should activate). If you want the official approach, the GameMaps version gives instructions on how to automatically enable this font through gameinfo.txt so that you don't have to repeat this process every time you launch the mod.

Installing the GameMaps version does require you to open zip files since the VPK is a much larger file (also the same reason why the Steam version requires two separate parts).

@Gigan ok so 1. last time i tried this WITHOUT gamemaps it was there so why did you just take it away for it to be gamemaps exclusive.
2. quick check but does installing gamemaps things require zipping folders and vpks and all that file crap?

@c. Tracking that it still doesn't work. Team is currently reformatting it from scratch while waiting for the GameMaps mirror to be fixed.

@anormalgamer54432 The Online Edition is exactly that. However, still dealing with technical difficulties. Please read the description and visit for details on it.

@i shit my pants View the last screen shot on this page to see what it looks like. Read into the Complete Edition to see the bonus items listed in the Enhanced Folder, including font and menu backround image.
