Introduction
Hello and welcome to my guide! I made this because I don't really understand why everyone is always complaining about Gandhi, just follow these simple steps and you'll be playing with him fine in no time. He's not as OP as you think. I've been using these for a few weeks now and I've only thrown my laptop out a window 6 times since then. And just so everyone is aware, One does not simply play as Gandhi.

Now you may be wondering if you haven't played against him or noticed these patterns, what makes Gandhi so strong, scary, and overpowering? In the original Civilization adopting the democracy government took 2 away from an AI's aggression level (Keep in mind all of this is on a scale of 0 to 10), and Gandhi's aggression level was at 0. So the bug was the game read 0 minus 2 as 255, which defaulted to 10, making Gandhi one of the most aggressive nations and this was left it in the game and included in later games (ie. CIV 5) because it was so ironic and hilarious. Now instead of aggressiveness, per say, being really high, his production of nukes and use of nukes is through the roof at 12, which is defaulted to 10, as seen here on the Civilization Wiki[civilization.wikia.com].
Step 1: Moving
Step 1) Move to the other side of the world-
This is an early game MUST, as moving to the opposite side of the map will greatly decrease any chance of interaction... At least in the beginning. If you aren't a fan of this type of strategy or prefer to not move around much, simply don't move at all until you're forced to meet him. The nooby way of simply not moving can and more than likely will slow you down but hey, it's better than losing.

Disclaimer: Not exploring WILL NOT work in multiplayer so I'd go for avoiding the Indian leader as much as possible.
Step 2: One Step Ahead
Step 2) Always know his next move-
Leave some scouts around his borders so if he begins sending troops you know exactly what's going on and where. It's crucial to space your units you will use for this out and not loiter too closely or he will accuse you of preparing for an attack. If he has any cities on the coast send some boats to watch there as well. Also be prepared for him to found a lot of cities as I've seen this happen. Monitor his cities and their growth as well and if possible do your best to keep up with his score. If you're easily surpassing his score you're playing on too low a difficulty and should at least consider playing on a harder mode. On deity you say, eh? Try Battletoads
Step 3: Reseatch
Step 3) Rush to Uranium-
Try to research your way to uranium as fast as possible so you can scout out Gandhi's land as soon as possible. I can't stress enough how the resources owned by this player determine the entire outcome of the game. Remember this is a player that can NOT by any circumstances be trusted. Don't worry about actually obtaining any yourself as it's not incredibly important in the long run.
Step 4: It begins
Step 4) Reaction to Resources-
If you see any uranium at all within his borders or in the general vicinity you can begin unplugging your laptop or computer's coords to toss out the nearest window. Other options include smashing the device, igniting the device, and screaming like a maniac.
Step 5: El Fin
Step 5) Goodbye-
If he does have uranium then this is it and thanks for reading! If no uranium is found within Gandhi's borders, you might as well quit anyway while you're ahead. Cheers!

My strategy with Ghandi resembles playing DayZ: kill on sight. Then find his friends and kill them and take everything they have. Turn their homes to ash. Don't grant them an opportunity to fight back, because if they ever become strong again you will die.

My game: 6, 2 players 4 AI Prince with: Denmark (Me) Indonesia (Friend), Attila and Khan, which we destroyed with a quick medival invasion. Then we were searching and searching for the last pair, and we found Gandhi/Elizibeth.

I have better plan, be Rome and overwhelm him early with hoards of Legions...worked fine for me. Right up untill he managed to nuke me in the Medieval Era...;)
