Weapons (Sidearms)
Here is a detailed list of the sidearms in Far Cry 4 and my explanation of them.

Mark IV:
The British Webly Mark 4, a classic gun dating back to World War I and World War II. It's considered the "starting gun" (in my opinion) in Far Cry 4. It's a Six-Shooter Revolver (6 round magazine) with a moderate reload time, high power, but not very good at long range.

M-712:
The German "Broomhandle" Mauser C96. It was developed starting from the year 1896. It was the first mass produced semi-automatic pistol in the world. Like the MARK IV, it comes from World War II. it has a great 10 round magazine, moderate reload, moderate recoil, and is a great backup weapon.
-Information thanks to FOG-Carston!

1911:
The American "M1911" from World War I is one of my all-time favorite weapons. It dates back from World War I and is still in use by the American Military today, but not as common. It has a 7 round magazine with a sorta-quick reload, moderate recoil, and some stopping power, almost to the Revolver's level.

6P9:
Like the 1911, it returns from Far Cry 3. It is an amazing semi-automatic silenced pistol. It has an 8 round magazine, which should be enough for stealth, but not very useful in guns-blazing scenarios.

.44 Magnum:
One of the guns that screams 'Murica! This Six-Shooter Revolver (6 round magazine) has an amazing stopping power, moderate reload, but a high kick like a mule. Great for dealing with armored targets.

D50:
Also known as the famous Desert Eagle, it's a .50 AE Caliber shot that will ring for miles. It has the power of a Revolver without being one. It has a 7 round magazine and high recoil. This is a cool kid's gun.

A.J.M. 9:
A Uplay Reward exclusive gun, it returns from the amazing Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon DLC. It is a 3-round burst (3 rounds per click/trigger squeeze) and great for blindfiring. It can have a supressor, which makes it in my opinion, better than the 6P9 and an Extended Magazine. For exotic gun fans, this is one to try out.

A99:
Also known as the Tec-9, this 32 round bad boy is probably the best sidearm at blindfiring (firing without aiming down sights). The supressor does not hold it back and a great gun for close ranged stealth. It's even great without stealth. This is one of my favorite Sidearms.

Skorpion:
The starter "fully-automatic" weapon is okay. You use it for the first time at the beginning of the game in the car getting away from Pagan Min's "castle". It has a high recoil, 20 round magazine, quick reload, and good for really only the beginning of the game.

Flare Gun:
Another exotic weapon, it shoots flares that lights your opponnents on fire! It has a very small magazine of only 1, but because of that, a quick reload. If someone engages you at a close range, quickly switch weapons.

Auto-Cross(bow):
One of my favorite Sidearms, this sick thing can dispatch a Juggernaut at long range with like 8-10 shots. It's an amazing stealth weapon (probably my go-to stealth sidearm) and a great exotic weapon. It contains a 10 round magazine which you can bump up to 15 (which is highly recommended, especially with a sight). You must try this gun out. You'll love it.

D2:
This shotgun has 2 shots per magazine, as it's a double-barreled shotgun. It has moderate range (never use for long range) and amazing for close range. It fires both of it's shots but for double damage. It has a quick reload due to loading both shells in at once. Another must try weapon.

M79:
A great early and late game weapon, and one that I've used for probably the whole game. If paired with the "Buzzer" Gyrocopter, it's a match made in heaven. It's a 1 shot per magazine grenade launcher with great range. It has a quick reload too. A must try weapon.
Weapons
MP34:
Based upon the Austrian "MP18" from World War I, this will probably be your first "primary" gun to try out besides the AK-47. It has a 24 round magazine and is best for early game. It has a moderate reload time with mdoerate recoil.
-Thanks to 3D2Real to change to "Austrian MP18!

A2000:
Your first "submachine gun" of the game besides the Skorpion with a 20 round magazine. It has a quick reload and moderate recoil. Try it and see if you like it. You can bump up it's magazine to 30 rounds with the "Extended Magazine" attachment.

MP5:
The German MP5 is another early game submachine gun. In my opinion it's better than the A2000. It has a moderate fire rate with moderate recoil and is a Jack of All Trades.
-Thanks to CobraDBlade =Fs= for correcting "British" MP5 to "German" MP5!

Vector .45 ACP:
The Vector is a fast firing SMG with surprisingly moderate recoil. If you like spraying and praying, pick this gun. It has a moderate magazine which it quickly burns through.

BZ19:
The "Bizon PP19" is an Assault Rifle in an SMG's body. With an amazing magazine side at 64, it has a moderate reload time and moderate recoil. This is a gun you need to at least try out.

M133:
Your starting shotgun. It's actually pretty good with an 8 round magazine, pump-action, and good for close quarters. Don't use at range or you might be in trouble. This is a must try weapon.

1887:
The "Model 1887" is a kickass western shotgun with a sick lever-action animation and only a 4 round magazine. If you want to be John Rambo or Clint Eastwood, here's your gun. It's a must try weapon.
-Thanks to 2spooky4me for correcting "pump-action" to "lever-action"!

SPAS-12:
The room-sweeper is a semi-automatic shotgun with a moderate reload speed and moderate range. It's good for people who love to spray and pray. If you like sweeping baddies out of their homes, this is a must try weapon.

AK47:
The famous "Klashnikov AK-47" was the pioneer for assault rifles. Highly reliable, it's a great gun throughout Far Cry 4. It returns from 3, like many of the guns on here, but it is improved. The reload animation is cooler and a lot more slick. 30 round magazine, moderate recoil, moderate reload speed, and this is a must try weapon.

STG-90:
An Assault Rifle with 30 rounds and decent power. It seems like a straight AK-47 upgrade with it's statistics.

"Famas" F1:
The "Famas F1" is another "standout" weapon. It is a bullpup with a 30 round magazine, moderate recoil, and moderate reload time. This gun is from Far Cry 3.
Chrolumbus: The Famas 1 is a French assault rifle. It's mostly used by armed forces in France and a few smaller countries around the world. The F1 is the first variation of the FAMAS.

MS16:
Another returning friend from Far Cry 3, this is a semi-automatic assault rifle with a 15 round clip. It's great if you want to be a marksman from range without using a sniper rifle. It's also good at close range. It is good for stealth if you use the surpressor. This is a must try weapon.

P416:
The "late-game AK47" in my opinion. This 30 round clip bad boy has a quicker reload time than the AK, the same power at moderate, moderate recoil, and is a must try weapon.

A52:
The "Ace 52" is a returning late game Assault Rifle last seen in Far Cry 3. This is the odd one of the bunch, like the STG-90. A 30 round clip, moderate recoil, moderate power, and a Galil-like design, you might wanna check this one out if you like Assault Rifles.

SVD:
The Russian SVD will probably be your first Sniper Rifle. Starting with only a 5 round clip and being semi-automatic, it's recommended you get the "Extended Magazine" attachment to boost that up to 10. It has moderate recoil for back-to-back shots, and a moderate reload time. This is a must try sniper rifle. It returns from Far Cry 3.

M-700:
Another Far Cry 3 veteran, this is your average bolt-action sniper rifle. It has a 5 round maagazine, which you can bring up to 10, which might help, moderate recoil, and a good stealth weapon with a surpressor. You should try this gun out.

Z93:
The A50 or Barret .50 cal powerhouse sniper rifle of the game, this has an amazing power. It does come with high recoil and a 5 round magazine, bump it up to 10. This is a must try sniper rifle.

SA-50:
It has a 5 round magazine and high recoil.
Moike: A sniper rifle unlocked later within the storyline, with the same power and close to same range as the Z93, however being semi-automatic, offering higher rates of fire and stopping power, at the cost of reload time.

PKM:
Your starting Russian machine gun. This baby has moderate to high recoil, 100 round magazine, high reload time, but one of the best spray-and-pray guns in the game.

U100:
The lightweight MG of the bunch, it has a 50 round magazine, but you can use it like an Assault Rifle. If you are looking for an Assault Rifle/MG crossover, this is your gun. Moderate recoil, moderate reload speed, and a veteran from Far Cry 3. This is a must try gun.

MKG:
The powerhouse returning from FC3, this is a 100 round magazine, high damage, moderate to high recoil, but probably the best spray-and-pray gun along with the MG42. This is a must try weapon.

MG42:
It is known as "Hitler's Buzzsaw" (and "Buzzsaw" is that name of the "Signature" version of the weapon) and originates from Nazi Germany in World War II. This thing can mow down people like no-ones buisiness. 100 round magazine, moderate recoil, moderate reload time, this is a must try weapon. It is also new to the Far Cry franchise.

RPG-7
:
"RPG!!!" (Red Dawn) This thing is a 1 shot magazine rocket launcher. Must try weapon. 'Nuff said.

GL-94:
A grenade launcher with a 4 round magazine and pump-action, this is an exotic weapon. If you like non-stop explosive Michael Bay action, this is your gun. This is a must try weapon and you might like it.

GL-A87:
An 8 round magazine grenade launcher with a high fire rate.
-Thanks to ٿ ٿ ٿ for the information!

LK-1018:
It's like the RPG-7 with an avaliable attachment to lock-on to vehicles. You get it for completing all of Longinus' missions.
-Thanks to Frewgles for the information!

Hunter Bow/Recurve Bow:
The Hunter Bow and the Recurve Bow are very similar. Literally ,the only difference is that the Recurve is better in all stats according to the Shop page in-game. It has 1 shot per "magazine" and great for hunting. If you hunt with this weapon, you will get double the skin. Great for hunting or stealth. Do not use for guns-blazing scenarios. This is a must try weapon.

.700 Nitro:
This 2 shot magazine sniper rifle using weapon is a power house. It can tear down a Juggernaut in 3 well placed shots to the chest. If you have the Elephant Gun, use it. It can take down an Elepant, just like the name. Surprisingly, it's not a Sniper Rifle as you may think. It's actually a shotgun. I presume it uses slug rounds. It has a quick reload but HIGH recoil. This is a must try weapon.

Flamethrower:
If you remember "the moment/mission" from Far Cry 3 (no spoilers), this is an AWESOME GUN. With a 100 round magazine, NO RECOIL, and a moderate to long reload time, cook your enemies like they are steak on a barbeque! Hurk also loves this gun. This is a MUST try weapon.
Outposts
Outposts are scattered all around Kyrat. There are a total of 24 of them. In Far Cry, it is sorta-important to liberate them. Outposts can give you a Fast Travel point, supplies, a shop, and things when you are on the go. They can be extremely helpful.

In the beginning of Far Cry 4, you liberate your own outposts in a tutorial-like mission.

They can be found on your map with a Red Flag. Those are non-liberated outposts. Black Flags mean liberated outposts, and you can Fast Travel to them.

With the addition of new animals, outposts are more epic, as Elephants and avaliable. Other new features that might you help liberate outposts are the "Buzzer" Gyrocopter and the Bait, which attracts nearby predators.

Stealth can be a viable option, as you want to take out as many alarm boxes as possible. If an enemy uses one, reinforcements come in about 30 seconds, which is probably worse than the people already at the outpost. Reinforcements can come by air or land. By air, they come in helicopters. You should take them out as soon as possible. By land, they come in convoys, and are easier to take out.

To destroy alarm boxes, the easiest method is to shoot it or blow it up. If that is the case, for stealth you want to first make sure no enemies are around, as they can hear it explode and alert everyone you are there. If you are all good there, use a silenced/surpressed weapon, like a gun with a surpressor or the Auto-Cross(bow), my favorite.

Juggernauts as I like to call them can be found in some outposts. They are hard to take down, but can be in a few ways. 1. Later under the last row in the "Tiger" skill tree, "Heavy Takedown" becomes an unlockable skill which for stealth, is highly recommended. The skill costs 4 Skill Points. 2. Shoot at it. When not using stealth, shooting the Juggernaut might be a last stand. 3. EXPLODE IT. Probably my favorite with way #1, is to take your average turret or explosive weapon, and BLOW IT SKY HIGH. Not recommended for stealth.

Animals can be found at outposts too. Instead of just throwing bait, some can be found there. Dogs are a nuisance for stealth, and should be eleiminated ASAP. Other imprisoned animals you can release include Elephants (My favorite), Tigers, Leopards, and Bears. It's not recommended (unless it's an elephant) to go near those animals. To unlock the cage, knife or shoot it, but for stealth, make sure you have a surpressed weapon or a weapon like Auto-Cross(bow).

Sometimes in Far Cry 4, your outposts can be immediately counter-attacked, which is extremely annoying. Some ways to stop it is to liberate a Fortress, which I will explain the next part of this guide. If you are ticked off, just forget it and drive about 200-250 meters away. You won't loose that outpost, but you won't get any Karma for it either, nor lose any.

I hope this helps you liberate those outposts!

Fortresses
In Far Cry 4, Fortresses (Huge Outposts) are avaliable to capture, and can be very valuable. I hope this helps!

-Wait to weaken the Fortress. When the owner dies/something happens to them, that is a great time to capture it. Usually, it will give you less people to fight, the doors busted down, the mines off, and things like that. You can make fortresses weaker by completing more campaign missions.

-Use a great arsenal of weapons and vehicles. Some weapons and vehicles I can recommend for you to use is the following:
Surpressed Pistol
M87 Grenade Launcher (Sidearm)/GL-94 (Grenade Launcher)
RPG-7 (Rocket Launcher)
AK47/P416 (Assault Rifle)
Auto-Cross(bow)
Silenced Sniper Rifle (of your choice)
M133/SPAS-12/1887/D2 (Shotguns)
ELEPHANTS (Vehicle)
"Buzzer" Gyrocopter (Vehicle)
Guns for Hire (Mercenary)
MG42/PKM/MKG/U100 (Light Machineguns)
Mortars
Co-op with a friend

-Scout out the fortress with your camera. This can be vital. In fortresses, plenty of enemies are located inside and ready to fire. Usually there are about 2/3 snipers, 2/3 armored targets, 10 grunts, and plenty of reinforcements. Reinforcements can come by ground or air. If by air, make sure you use a Lightmachine Gun, Turret, or Explosive Weapon to take it down the easiest.

-Stealth can be the answer. Taking out the alarms WILL be vital. The reinforcements are painfully annoying and can be your death. You can also shoot at the alarms, but make sure no enemies are around and use a silenced weapon, like the Auto-Cross(bow), Silenced Sniper Rifle, or Silenced Pistol to name a few.

-After effects of liberating fortresses. Fortresses give plenty of activities to do. Once you liberate one, your liberated outposts in the area will no longer be randomly attacked, at least as much. They also will supply you with an awesome "Buzzer" Gyrocopter even while liberating one.

I hope this part of my "Ultimate Guide" gives you a few tips on how to liberate some fortresses!
Crafting
Crafting is a vital part in the Far Cry 3/4 universe. It helps you upgrade your character. The upgrades are:
-Weapon Holsters
-Wallet
-Loot Bag
-Syringe Kit
-Bait Bag
-Quiver
-Ammo Bag
-Throwables Box (Not throwup)
-Explosive Bag
-Heavy Ammo Bag

My go-to upgrades will be: Weapon Holsters, Wallet, Loot Bag, Ammo Bag, and the Heavy Ammo Bag.

A simple tip is on the first mission when you are going to clear out the cave with a bow, kill a few of those Tibetan Wolves to craft your first Weapon Holster upgrade.

According to GamerHeroes' Crafting Guide[www.gamersheroes.com], you will need to have all of these skins to complete the basic upgrades. (Note, the original guide is incorrect, you need 7 Honey Badger skins)
-6 Tibetan Wolf Skins
-7 Malayan Tapir Skins
-7 Honey Badger Skins (Thanks to Evil Otaku)
-4 Bharal Skins
-3 Assasm Macaque Skins
-6 Asian Rhino Skins
-8 Sambar Skins
-4 Pig Skins (Thanks to Rythmathical)
-4 Demon Fish Skins
-4 Wild Boar Skins
-5 Dhole Skins
-8 Bear Skins
-5 Yak Skins
-4 Clouded Leopard Skins
-7 Bengal Tiger Skins
-7 Snow Leopard Skins

That's a lot of skins and just shows how much effort Ubisoft Montreal put into their animals, which is alot.

To get the "Advanced" Crafting Upgrades, you will first need to visit Chiffon's hideout. You will need to liberate the outpost "Kyra Tea Weigh Station" (x: 391 y: 330), which is in the bottom-ish part of Southern Kyrat. Then, visit his hideout close by. You will need to now hunt the following "Rare Animals".
-Sky Tiger: Located at Barnali's Textiles (x: 444 y: 689)
-Mad Devil: Located at Keo Gold Storage (x: 440 y: 815)
-Shadow Leopard: Located at Keo Logging Camp (x: 417 y: 754)
-Ghost Bear: Located at Keo Pradhana Mine (x: 695 y: 620)
-Tenzin: Located at Kyra Tea Terraces (x: 391 y: 330)
-Black Water Dragon: Located at Kyra Tea Weigh Station (x: 346 y: 381)
-Gulo: Located at Pranijigat School (x: 346 y: 625)
-Thick Skin: Located at Rajgad Gular (x: 808 y: 788)
-Karkandann: Located at Shanath Breeders (x: 381 y: 572)

Need to add a short comment about the SG-90 rifle.
The SG-90 (Sturmgewehr 90) is the Swiss Army assault rifle made by SIG and is also known as SG 550. It is one of the most precise assault rifles and is equipped with a visor up to 400m by default. For further distances SIG also has telescopes in the portfolio next to a mountable grenade launcher. Regarding this the ingame specs do not reflect the real ones unfortunately but regarding the proportions of the rifle ingame, it looks more like the SG 552 which is a shorter version used mainly by special forces. (If you ever played Counterstrike both variants are included, SG-90/550 as the autosniper "Krieg 550" and the short variant SG 552 as "Krieg 552")

I liked the guide but i think its an common misconception but the .700 nitro and the elephant gun are both a break-action rifle firing 50 cal bullets

Just like to point out that the MP18 is a German firearm while the MP34 is Austrian. Otherwise, great guide :gsold:

@Sebine I lean more towards;

M79-sidearm, can be used when driving vehicles, takes out helicopter in one hit.
Auto cross-good for stealth and accurate, plus often one hit kills.
Buzzsaw-incredibly accurate even from long ranges, can destroy any vehicle in a matter of seconds, kills everything with ease.
SA 50-can shoot through walls, all attachments can be applied (extended mag, better scope and silencer)

and if you're less into stealth instead of autocross use 700 nitro, which is an insanely powerful shotgun which one hit kills everything.
Sebine 28 Apr, 2023 @ 9:05am
The perfect setup.
1: Auto Cross
2: M79
3: Any sniper, silenced
4: Rocket launcher

A gun for every situation.

Hi, is it possible to get to the other island without having to do the weird Shangrila missions of the two stoned guys? I mean once you complete "The protector has arrived".
