Age of Empires was a game that set the stage for many great games in the RTS genre. Fantastic music, responsive controls, but even more so, a huge roster of varied factions based on historical civilizations.

Starcraft, Civilization, and Warcraft are all great games with good sequels. But Age of Empires 2 truly exceeded its predecessor by expanding its number of campaigns and faction roster. It was a game Ensemble Studios could be proud of. And it influenced me as a child to love history and explore the deeds of those long gone in the past.

You can find the HD Edition or the Definitive Edition on Steam. I can't speak for the quality of The Definitive Edition just yet, so I recommend the HD version the most. (Which was originally published with the help of the Modding Community. But that's some info for the next video!)
