Fixing de-sync error and slow loading on Linux
Készítő: MentalButcher
This fixes several issues with running Dawn of War in Linux. The most problematic being, de-sync errors while playing multiplayer. The fixing of loadtimes and other performance issues, is just bonus icing.

Fixing de-sync
In order to get protontricks, you will have to install it from your store or distribution.

Depending on what version of steam you use, you should probably use the protontricks version that corresponds to it.

I am using flatpak, so that is what I will demonstrate here.

First open up your software installer and type in protontricks.

Then once it is installed, you want to start the program and select Dawn of War.

Once the new menu opens up, you have to select default prefix.

Then select install windows DLL or component.

And to finish it off, you have to search for or scroll down to find and install vcrun2005 (this is the vc_redist from 2005).

I think I have heard of a similar issue before, you can try setting down the audio quality in the game. Otherwise it might be hardware/driver issue.

Mh... it is not related to the Steam notifications, but the in-game notifications (build completed, unit under attack, etc.)

Glad to hear it! :D

I think you can turn steam overlay off and that should fix it? It might be an issue with your sound daemon as well?

Thank you, indeed this solution has been helpful in being able to play online on Linux. Unfortunately, however, playing on Linux with Steam Proton, the Sound Bug (the one concerning game notifications) occurs 4 times out of 5; does anyone have a solution for this?
