My widescreen classic HUD plugin is available at Simplici7y, a website that hosts mods for the Marathon trilogy. These mods are compatible with the Steam releases of Marathon.

• Download the plugin .zip from the above link
  
• Open Classic Marathon's installation folder
  
  • Right click Classic Marathon in your Steam library
    
  • Click "Properties"
    
  • Select "Installed Files" on the left of the Properties window
    
  • Click the "Browse" button on the top right of the Properties window
• Open the "Plugins" folder inside the Classic Marathon installation folder
  
• Move the "Default M1 HUD - Widescreen" folder from the downloaded .plugin zip into this plugins folder

Now you must select the HUD in the ingame settings.

• Launch Classic Marathon
  
• Go to Preferences
  
• Go to Graphics
  
• Click the "HUD Plugin" setting to change it to "Default M1 HUD - Widescreen"

I also recommend the following other graphics settings:

Limit Vertical View: OFF
Override FOV: 86 (for 16:9 monitor) 80 (for 16:10 monitor) 107 (for 21:9 monitor)
HUD Size: Largest

Now go and save the Marathon as Bungie would have intended if widescreen monitors existed in 1994!

If you would prefer a HUD that is more compact, I have also made a HUD that adapts Marathon 1's HUD graphics to Marathon 2's more condensed layout. It is included in my Widescreen Marathon 2 HUD plugin[simplici7y.com].

Simply extract the "Classic M2 HUD - Widescreen Enhanced" folder into Classic Marathon's Plugins folder and activate it just like in the above instructions in this guide.

Even though it is the Marathon 2 HUD, it will automatically detect that it is running with Marathon 1 and will apply the correct graphics.
