Barry's fate is sealed because there is no hole made by a snake and we don't wait for him to rescue us, but perhaps there may be a more obvious decision in this game where we can choose his fate than simply whether you trust him enough to wait for his rope, or as was my case you were too young to realise waiting in games was a thing and you could wait for him to drop the rope and that influences his decisions.
