This guide is spoiler-heavy and reveals secrets regarding collectible items.
I made it relatively safe to scroll through by hiding vital information behind spoiler masks. However, these spoiler masks are revealed on mouse-over, so I advise to scroll carefully and only reveal them if you're really stuck on this matter.

The very first big hurdle for most Players appears right in the beginning.
In order to find your first Cassette and get the whole hunt started, you have to discover a secret.
I will tell you this much right away: The secret ist neither something super time-consuming nor something super challenging - you just have to perform a simple task.

In this section you'll find several hints to guide you step by step towards unveiling the secret.
If you still can't manage to find it after trying everything, the last segment will reveal the explicit solution.


• Hint 1:
Think logically. Where in this game could you find a music cassette?

• Hint 2:
The secret is connected to one of the Cassette Players.

• Hint 3:
You need to perform a creative action with one of the Cassette Players. Something you would not do normally.

• Hint 4:
You need to be in a Scrapyard.

• Hint 5:
I wonder if there's a Cassette Player MK2. You know, an upgraded version of it.


♦ Explicit solution:
When arriving at the Scrapyard, pick up the nearby Cassette Player and drop it on the Anvil. Then push the button. Instead of being reforged, this object will be smashed. You receive 2 cassettes and 1 key-item.
Tip: To avoid throwing (and destroying) the held item accidentally, just perform a dash and the held item will be dropped safely.

After solving the initial secret, finding the rest of the collection is pretty straight forward.
You need to use the item, that you've discorved in Part 1, in order to extract the remaining 19 cassettes. The locations are as follows:

7 in the Main Levels:
• 1 in Ant Hill Entrance
• 1 in Hatching Chambers
• 1 in Overgrown Outpost
• 1 in Flooded Wilds
• 1 in Ant City
• 1 in Sewers
• 1 in Lab

4 after Bosses:
• 1 in the Save Room after Ant Queen
• 1 in the Save Room after Toxic Toad
• 1 in the Save Room after Mato
• 1 in the Save Room after Dr. Antstrong

3 from Minibosses:
• 1 in the Chamber of Mamoth
• 1 in the Chamber of Great Wisp
• 1 in the Chamber of Fly Twins

2 in Shrines:
• 1 in any Blood Shrine (except level 1)
• 1 in any Mantis Shrine

2 at the Elevator:
• 1 outside of the Elevator
• 1 inside of the Elevator

1 in a secret room:
• After defeating any Main Boss, don't go to the next level yet, but instead "save & quit". Upon continuing this run, you'll find yourself in a secreet room with yet another cassette.
