Overview
Adventurers management is a core part of the game experience yet not very well explained, so in this short guide I'll try to go through some of the mechanics tied to them and how to increase their performance on the field.

Updated 7/1/2024: Add Proficiency section. Added link to fan database for all bloodlines details in Bloodlinesection
Manual
Manuals/Cultivation Method is a collection of Active/Passive Skills that an Adventurer can use. Each Adventurer will always have at least one manual learned when visiting the island.

Manual UI
To access the manual UI, open Adventurer Details (click on the View Status button if you're on the equipment UI) and navigate to 'Manual' tab

In this UI you can see all the manuals an adventurer has learned (not equipped) and the XP pool.
When adventurer gain experience, the XP goes to 2 place: The shared XP pool, and the core skill of all equipped manuals. So only manuals that you have equipped can level up.

Clicking on the learned manual will open up another interface.

Here you can see all the skill of the manual, hovering over a skill will show you the effect, trigger condition (if it's weapon dependent) and learning condition. Clicking on any of the sub-skill will level it up provided you have enough XP in the Pool and level of core skill. You can also click the Auto button and it'll automatically level up all upgradable skills (recommended because XP pool is not a problem in the game)

Equipping Manual and Active Skill
I've mentioned that you need to equip a manual on an adventurer for it to level up. Here's how to do that.
Open an Adventurer Details and navigate to their 'Status' tab. Click on one of the circle and select any learned manual.

Similarly, click on the square icon to equip any active skills you've learned.

This is especially important because adventurer will only use skill if you've equipped them here, and this is only available to Settled Adventurer (Non-settled adventurer can still level up passive skill to gain some stat but won't be able to use any other active skills)

Your adventurer will unlock more equip-able manual slot as they go through reincarnation (which will be explained later)

One final thing to note here is your adventurer's level is the sum of all equipped manual's level. For example if my adventurer have equipped two Level 30 manuals, then their level on Status screen would be 60. Consequently if I swap out one of the manual for a Level 1, then the adventurer's level will be reduced to 31 (their base stat won't change but they'll lose the stat bonus from the unequipped manual)

Bloodline
Bloodline is a set of unique passive effects inherent to all adventurer. Each adventurer will start with a main bloodline and can learn another by using the Mystic Fusion building. The grade of an adventurer is corresponding to the grade of their main bloodline.

The main bloodline of each adventurer is completely randomized except for some starting adventurers you get using Godsent points. So if you're trying to recruit a purple adventurer from an island through their quest line, save and reload before you turn in the final quest will allow you to "reroll" their bloodline.

Each bloodline will have a main permanent effect and 6 unlockable passive effects (which is visible in the Bloodline UI)

Bloodline UI
To access Bloodline UI, open up the Adventurer Details and navigate to 'Bloodline' tab
Here you'll be able to view all the passive effect from the main and sub bloodline, all fusion item that have been used so far as well as a log of when the adventurer used fusion item to strengthened their bloodline.

To check the passive effect of a bloodline, you can hover over it

In this instance, the passive effect is not active. In order to activate the effect, adventurers will have to go through a process call bloodline fusion to add level to it.

Bloodline Fusion
Various activities will reward both player and adventurer with Fusion Items that can be used to strengthened bloodline by adding stat/secondary effect to it.

Here's a short list of activities that can give out these materials:
  • Reward from auto-bounty
  • Killing bosses
  • Perform training using high-grade material at Academy-type building
  • Opening Bloodline material chest (bought from Airship)
  • Buy it directly from adventurer ( They won't sell it on the Trading House so you'll need to click it directly in their inventory)

To give an adventurer a fusion item, click on them and open their inventory UI:

Select the Donate button then the fusion items you want to gift, if you don't want to give them all you can untick the Max checkbox in the corner

When the item is in an adventurer's inventory (either by obtaining it themselves or gifted by the player), they will occasionally try to incorporate it into their bloodline with various degree of success.

By incorporating the same item over and over, they'll raise that particular fusion effect level which can be seen when hovering over the item in the Bloodline UI.

The total level of all incorporated fusion item will be counted toward activating passive effect of the bloodline (for both main and sub bloodline)

Activating sub-bloodline for adventurers

Once you've unlocked the Bloodline Breeding tech (Tier 4 - City Foundation) and build a Mystic Fusion. You can give adventurer a 2nd bloodline in addition to their inherent one:

The Fusion tab allow player to choose a bloodline to give, you can do this repeatedly to an adventurer to change their sub bloodline if you don't like the unlockable passive effects. Main blood line however cannot be changed at all.

The Advance tab allow you to upgrade your bloodline per their path, this is relevant if you invested in Green/Blue adventurers and would like to upgrade them further

These items are obtainable mostly through auction and rarely dropped from bosses. They can also be obtained by opening chest sold by high level airship, or from island completion rewards.

You can go here for full information on all the bloodlines currently in the game and their unlockable passive:

Collection Effect
Perhaps the most under-explained mechanic in the game, collection effect is buff granted to your adventurer when they move from town to field. This buff is unlocked by adding various item, buildings to the collection UI and account for nearly half of your adventurer's power.

If you think your unsettled, green grade adventurers are useless mid-late game then you're probably missing out on the collection buff

Collection UI

To access the collection UI, select your Leviathan Palace and click on the Collection button

Alternatively, you can hit the Function button in bottom right corner and select the Collection button

In the collection UI you'll be able to see all the effect obtainable and the item required to unlock it, with different categories (although the categorization for some effect is not correct imo)

You can also tick on the Star icon and favorite the effect, it'll then show up on the first page of the category and in the Favorite tab.

To submit an item, just click on its icon in the list

Some effects are only unlockable using Godsend points before you start your playthrough.

It's important to note however that this buff is not permanent (except for effects in the Forever tab) and will eventually runs out, adventurer will need to return to town occasionally to refresh the buff (this is relevant if you're giving them lengthy bounties like S-Rank Guard Area).

The buff duration is around 10 minutes from my experience and can be extended with Title (next section)

With the majority of the collection effect unlocked, your green adventurers can easily defend your field resource building for a very long time if you put them near the portal.

Title buff
Title Buff is another obscure mechanic that give various buff to both adventurers and tourist, however its effect is less impactful compared to Collection Effect (with the exception of one Title). Title Buff is unlocked by placing various structure on the island and then enabled by the player.

Title UI

To access Title UI, simply hit shortcut key 'J', or click on the Data button on the bottom right corner.

Here you'll see all the Titles in the game, to view further details about the Title effect and unlock requirement, click on the expand button at the bottom of a Tile. To enable it, click on the toggle button next to its name.

Each Title Details UI will have 2 tabs, Needs which show you which building to place to unlock it in the first place, and Effect which is activated when you enable it.

You'll also see next to the Title's name a text says (2 steps), this is to indicate that the Title can be unlocked even if you've only placed half of the required buildings albeit the effects will be weaker compared to placing all buildings.

The buff given here is mostly stat buff and some niche effect like tourist carrying more money or discount from trading house. However there's one title that's give an extra 2 minutes to your collection buff duration which is very good imo.

There's a limit to how many Title you can enable, this limit is increased as your Leviathan level up. (Currently at Leviathan level 15 I can enable 7 of them).
Reincarnation
Reincarnation is the process in which you reset your adventurer's level to make them even stronger.

Reincarnation can be done at the Reincarnation Array building which is already built when you start your game and does not require any tech research.

You can reincarnate adventurers a total of 9 times, each reincarnation will give them:
  • Progressively increased Base stat

  • More learnable manual slots (up to 12)

  • More equipable manual slots ( at reincarnation 1 and 3, up to 3)

How to reincarnate your adventurer
Select the reincarnation array and hit on 'Add Char' button, then select your Adventurer that you want to reincarnate. They will start walking back to town and to the platform to reincarnate

The requirements for this process are:
  • Gold
  • Various grade and amount of Pill
  • Your adventurer hit level requirement

There's 4 grades of pill in total, they're crafted at the Alchemy building and must be researched beforehand (Manufacturing - T8, T10, T13, T15). They're also used in many collection effect.

For the level requirement, your first reincarnation only require level 50 (since adventurer start with only 1 equipable manual slot and the max manual level is 50). This will get higher as you reincarnate them further (100 and eventually 150).

Once the reincarnation is done, your adventurer is reset to Lv 1. All the previously equipped manual/skill will still be there but you'll need to level the skill again so pay attention to them.
Equipment
Adventurer Equipment is quite self-explanatory.
An Adventurer have 6 equipment slots (Weapon and 5 Armors pieces) that they can equip to increase their stat.

Equipments are divided into 5 grade distinguished by their colors
  • White (not craftable and mostly used for collection)
  • Green
  • Blue
  • Purple
  • Gold (divided again in T1,T2,T3 Gold)

The sub stats of an equipment are completely randomized when you craft/receive/buy them and cannot be changed in anyway at the moment. So you can save/reload before crafting is finished to reroll their stat if your materials are low. Otherwise trash equipment can be dismantled to craft Enhance material or craft higher tier EQs (applicable to gold grade only)

By default, adventurers will upgrade their equipment with drops from monster or buy it from the Weapon/Armor shop run by player, provided they have enough gold of course. This rate is very low however so you can opt to gift the equipment directly to them.

How to gift an adventurer equipment
Your adventurer needs to be in town first before you can gift them equipment. Pause the game and click on your adventurer, then select any of their equipment slots.

This will open up the equipment UI, you can then select the equipment you want to give to them, hit 'Preview' and then 'Apply'.

One important thing to note here is if adventurers do not like the gift (the stat does not fit their preference ie. Magic ATK stat on a Phys ATK manual) they'll switch back to their old equipment after a while.

Gifting equipment will also increase their favorability depending on the grade of the EQs, so if you have an adventurer you like and want to settle them quick, giving them high grades EQ will massively speed up the process.
Mount
Mount are shown in the same screen as equipment, and behave somewhat similarly but have its UI and mechanics.

Mount will give an adventurer a percentage of their stat (depending on the grade) and various randomized passive effect. It also give your adventurer a speed boost which greatly improve their efficiency.

There's also various type of mount ranging from your standard horse to more exotic creatures like polar bear, griffin or even a flying sword (don't ask me how they breed). Each mount type will have one stat that is higher than the other, Griffin for example have the highest Int out of all mounts types.

Adventurer cannot get mount in any normal way they would an equipment so you'll have to gift the mount to them, but first you'll need to obtain a mount through the 'Entrust' system.

How to obtain a mount
Entrust is a system in which you exchange various buildings/materials for a scaling chance to receive a mount.

To unlock the option to entrust merchant, you'll first need to build a Corral (City Foundation - T4).

After building a Corral, click on your Merchant building and select the last tab, then hit on the Mount button

In the UI, you can select various buildings/equipements/materials to be exchanged which will add value to the bottom bar. You can submit a maximum of 18 different items and up to 200,000 total value. You can also select how many items to add per click

Once you're done selecting, hit Submit button and the merchant will bring you mounts the next time the airship comes.

The best items to exchange IMO are buildings, some of them are very cheap to build and worth 2000 value points (blacksmith, armorsmith etc...) so you can just build hundreds of them for submission. Alternatively some high-tier building like Western/Elf type buildings worth a lot (up to 100,000).

When the next merchant arrive (You can time this by looking at the timer, it should says Airship leave after 10:50), you'll receive a batch of mount.

The result is completely randomized, so you can again save/reload to get the desired result, at max value there's a good chance to receive Gold mount which is the highest grade you can get through Entrust.

Rerolling for a good mount becomes relevant if you want to min-max, because the stat of a mounts factor in the next system which is Mount Breeding.

Fantastic mounts and how to breed them
Breeding mounts take 2 mounts of same type, grade and opposite sex and create an offspring that have much higher stat, better chance at passive skill and frequently higher grade.

To breed a mount, you'll first need to research the tech Mounts Breeding (City Foundation - T8). Click on your Corral and select the last tab

Click on the square slot and select a pair of mount, you'll then need to pay the materials cost to start the breeding process (Gold, Sticky Rice, Thatch Bed and Thatched Grass)

Once the timer is up, you can go back to the same UI and claim your new shiny mount. Again the result is randomized so... you know (save/reload before timer is up). Breeding gold grade mounts have a chance to give Orange-grade (Mutation) which is the highest grade a mount can get as far as I'm aware.

Now that you have your mount, time to gift them to an adventurers

How to gift an Adventurer a mount
Select your favorite adventurers, click on View details and go to Mount tab

Select Gift mount and choose the one you want to give them, then hit Gift

Your adventurer will now get a big stat boost and ride around the field in their mount

You can also gift them a replacement mount but keep in mind that the old one will disappear completely unlike equipments which is re-sold on the Trading House.

Proficiency / Equipment Enhance
Proficiency/Enhance is a mid-late game mechanic mostly served as a gold sink for player to further min-max their favorite adventurers. The boost to adventurers is very substantial at max level, however it'll take some micromanagement, quite a big of time and a lot of gold.

If you've played a mobile MMORPG in recent years, you might be familiar with the system. Here instead of enhancing a piece of equipment directly, you enhance the 'slot' instead, providing you the flexibility to change your gear without losing your upgrade progress.

There are 2 ways for adventurers to enhance these slots. The first is to set up a Refining Shop then list Reinforcement Books that you crafted there.

The books comes in various grade and are mostly crafted at a Crafting Table and needs to be researched (Manufacturing - T7 to T10). They also frequently appears as reward for auto-bounties (which they'll sell on Trading House so make sure to buy it back)

The second method is to use your gold directly to help them enhance.

How to enhance your adventurers equipment slot directly
Click on your adventurer and view their details, then go to the last tab 'Enhance'

Here you'll see a list of purchasable book with specific slot in their name, buying them will add XP directly to the slot. The books refresh every quarter or you can pay a gold cost to refresh them (up to 5 times, cost doubled every use)

Game seems to give higher grade books for purchase as your world rank increase and after every refresh so refreshing 1-2 times and buy all books per quarters once you've reached mid-game with a stable income is a good way to prepare your favorite adventurer for late-game.
Closing Thought
I've covered pretty much all the mechanics in the game that had me struggle to learn when I first start and while I intend for this to be quite short, it ends up being longer than I originally planned.

Hope this is helpful to new players to learn the game and let me know if you have trouble understanding any section.
Feedback is also welcome. :)

This guide is super helpful. The only time I have ever felt the need to comment on a guide. Well done and thank you!

Some information about mounts - I don't recommend breeding them until you get the Senior Building Accessories technology (leviathan level 8), because with it you can produce Chaos Log, Chaos Stone and Chaos Iron Ore. What it is? Architecture item that doesn't consume wood, iron ore or stone after placing in bulding :)

You need adventurer to reach level requirement and pill to reincarnate them. You can check that section in my guide, with images it should be easy to figure out.

Oh yeah i remember getting a fire of civ in the start, maybe thats why i never had issues until now. Thanks for that idea.

Thats another thing I never have these scrolls and cannot reincarnate people. Maybe i have not made it to that level yet.
kidnapdoor  [author] 15 Jan @ 12:32am
@Tom: You should definitely upgrade your airship then they'll very often sell Fire of Civilization for dirt cheap. Just plop them down near the entrance and let your green adventurers defend it, repeat for each island and you'll be swimming in Chaos energy

And save your chaos energy for more important stuffs like legendary scrolls and reincarnation pills. Once you've setup auto-buy for materials you should not be starving for most ingredients, if you do run out just switch production to a different items for a while, remember that your building still make profit even while selling no items as long as there are visitors.

I might make another guide to explain some other mechanics/resources in the game once I have a general idea of which needs to be explained more.
Tom Trustworthy 14 Jan @ 1:27pm
Thank you for this, im struggling on this game soooo hard right now just because it seems like almost nothing is explained. Even tho... they do explain some things.

I came on here looking for a sort of key that can show each item, how you get more of it and where it is typically used. I never have chaos energy even when switching islands but EVERYTHING needs it. So i'm typically screwed.

A lot of the bloodlines are just not good right now IMO (minimal effect or duplicate passive).
The strongest right now seems to be God (big stat boost), Golden Fairy (a lot of damage effect if maxed).
For bow users you can also go Heroes + Ancestral Spirit since they both have bow-related passives.
Tank just take Grandmaster or Superman for another big stat boost + more HP
Support can also consider Hanba for an AOE debuff aura.
Otkin 9 Jan @ 8:29pm
Great guide!
Could you add a bit about bloodline combinations? (like Vampire + Sirius for mitigating negative effects)
Bai 6 Jan @ 9:30pm
This is great. Detailed yet concise.
