the why
besides saving time, obviously
you can't change difficulties after completing the game, iirc, so I want the ezgun and stealth camo on my preferred difficulty, just to have
hey, its the steam version, now I can have these forever as opposed to my ps3 version where the controller stopped working and a new one costs $80 minimal
the how
guide definitely contains spoilers

note to self: does eating animal while full still count for the food tracker in the cure menu? (only allows 50 entries at a time)
answer: yes it does, eating is a good way to keep track of what you have already collected for markhor, but then so does simply picking something up if you are not sure, the food menu will tell you the taste if you have had it before anyway
the cure menu lets you access a history of both injuries and eaten foods by pressing whatever the view key is, r1 I think(?)
then eat poisonous food, lots of cure menu items neutralize poison

medicines are required? specifically plants that provide medicine
they are all over the place
the first lab has all of them in one room with a scientist
there is an area after the concrete building leading between the dock and the first lab that also has a bunch of medicinal plants

ga-ko camo makes kerotans easier to hear, but they only tend to make the noise one time as soon as you equip the camo, so it is very unreliable and the camo index is bad against almost everything
thermal goggles may or may not reveal kerotans (unconfirmed on hard/ confirmed to indeed not reveal kerotans on hard, possible they do not work at any difficulty)
kerotans are little green frog dolls, they make goofy quacking sounds when shot or when wearing gako camo (are they saying gako?)
for most kerotan entries I will add both descriptions from 2 different guides, one guide printed normally with the second guide's entry will be contained in [brackets like this] and if I feel the need to add a note of my own it will be as a (third entry)

links to other guides I used (every single one so far contains conflicting information automatically making my guide both more accurate and protected by free use):

a few redundant inclusions, will be very hard to sort without playing the game personally, am publishing as a proof of concept (I intend to use my own guide to complete both at once)
will have to try and cut down redundant entries
correction: the first markhor listing per area will indicate a new animal/medicine, the second will try to list every single one in case you missed something
I used 2 different guides for kerotans because they are hard to find with only 1 text description
obviously you shouldnt try to go for markhor in the middle of a run because a lot of early creatures never show up again, and a few only show up in one single map
if there are no new animals, the first entry is just the areas total

if you get anything on the list in an area but end up dying, do not forget to recollect what you need because that progress gets erased on continue

if you are looking for something specific, remember that ctrl-f will bring up the search field even in steam :D

FAQ? I guess
Q: I beat the game and didnt get kerotan, what happened?
A: there are a few reasons why you might have missed some kerotans (afaik the achievement is not bugged, no ones having problems, and I just finished using my own guide successfully to get both kerotans and markhor)
the first big two reasons I can think of are either that you missed one of the optional areas that held one, or you missed one during the motorcycle chase
make sure you are matching up the name of the map in the guide with your current location, the area name is displayed when you enter and also displayed in the map screen
the motorcycle chase is somewhat infamously hard, you will want to use weapons like the rpg, SVD, skorpion/m63/patriot/xm16e/ak47 (aka full automatics, skorpion and xm16e being the best for hitting kerotans while moving) and even the directional mic to confirm a hit (it amplyfies the sound a kerotan makes when struck, and it works from a long distance, the kerotan makes a very specific sound when struck compared to the passive gako camo quacking, listen once in an early area and you will know it)
Q: I didn't get markhor, how did I miss anything?
A: for this and also for kerotans, I would make sure to reiterate that if you die in any part of the game, you lose progress for anything you collected past the last checkpoint at the start of each area you enter (iirc it even goes for camos but I am not 100% on that, it definitely goes for regular items and weapons) so if you do die even once make absolutely sure you redo everything you already did in the map, and that certainly goes for boss fights
in particular, markhor also requires you to get the tsuchinoko, which requires a very specific criteria to find (set down mouse traps in the fear fight area after you beat him, look away from the traps until you hear them snap, crawl to retrieve mousetraps the same way you would collect a claymore mine, kill the other animals in the area such as the poison dart frogs and birds) but at least you do not need to deliver it to the end of the game alive to get markhor (fyi delivering the tsuchinoko thru the entire game alive rewards you with the infinity facepaint which gives you infinite ammo, when you lose all your gear at the specific story point you will find a replacement tsuchinoko in front of the waterfall near eva, again make sure you keep it alive so go get your guns back from her first so you can tranq it safely)
there are a few other animals that only show up once, again make sure you get them and move to the next area alive, otherwise the 3 snakes in the final battle can be very hard to see and again if you get killed or the timer passes 10 minutes you have to redo those as well as the kerotan on top of the tree
the actual markhor itself can be hard to find, theres one if you return to the start of the virtuous mission in the snake eater mission, one sometimes shows up in sokrovenno but it might be random, and then one should show up after the sorrow fight before you meet up with eva and have no weapons yet (I had a grenade, so I fed it one) they are specifically big goats and might take some damage so be careful not to scare it off with a mere wound
Q: I can't find some of these animals at all in the early area
A: thermal goggles help a lot, especially on hard where you can't use radar or sonar
thermal goggles can be found somewhat early in both missions if you know where to look (snake eater its in a closet where sokolov had been found during virtuous mission, during virtuous mission uh I dont remember but it's before you reach sokolov)
otherwise there are some areas where you can find the same animal or plant as other areas, try and check the different sections of the guide, or use ctrl+f to search for what you are having trouble finding to see if it shows up again later in the game where you will have the thermal goggles or at least be able to see things like the tiny tree frogs more easily
if you are having a lot of trouble finding a specific animal but you have a mouse trap, use the mousetrap and remember they can be reused infinitely as long as you recollect the trap
Q: do I need to capture any of the animals alive?
A: no, luckily, all you need to do is pick one up
always try to make sure you have space for 1 more food, dispose of something if you have to (even if you have never eaten it) just make sure you pick up the new food type before leaving
a lot of your worst enemies for these achievements will just involve making sure to remember stuff, you might be tempted to play the game normally but you absolutely should not, use all of your skills and also preferably a previous save file of specialized camos and items to cheese the game (unless you want to do kerotan and markhor first in which case you should cheese the game even more than normal)

Dremuchij South: From the ledge overlooking the tree where your backpack was hanging, look south with FPV to see it sitting on the edge of the hill. You can also use FPV to spot it by looking up and to the east from southwest of the tree, although it's a harder target to hit from here.
[As soon as you start, head right up into a narrow path. Once you're at the top, the Kerotan is to your left on top of a hill.]

Dremuchij East: Under the logs on the western side of the northern clearing. Use FPV to look down at it from the north. Note: You will not be able to return here after you drop down into Dremuchij North. Shortly after that, you'll lose your M1911A1 until you meet up with EVA in Rassvet. If you don't have the Patriot, the Single Action Army, or the EZ Gun, you'll either have to double back to get the other Dremuchij and Dolinovodno kerotans after you get the AK-47 from Rassvet before you trigger the Ocelot Unit fight there, or you'll have to collect grenades and learn how to throw them very accurately in order to hit the kerotans. I recommend waiting, unless you're really confident in your ability to land grenades on small ledges.

Dremuchij North: On a ledge near the middle of the northern half of the map. Climb the one climbable tree and look to the west. Alternately, stand on the northern edge of the patch of grass with birds in it under the golova tree, and look up to the northeast.
[Find the climbable tree in the middle of this area. Climb it, look left. The Kerotan is on top of a hill.
(the next area will lock you out of some kerotans and you will need to head in a different direction to reach those first, iirc it is south)]

Dremuchij Swampland: On the northwestern bank of the swamp, behind the cluster of trees on the northern part of the bank. It looks like it's close enough that you could kick it, but it's not.
[Get on the island in the middle of the swamp. You will find the Kerotan on the right side next to a tree.]
/
'' (see previous entry from virtuous mission)
/

Dremuchij South: In the area to the southwest that's blocked off by a fallen log, on a ledge on the northwestern "wall". Note: You will have to crawl under the log that you crawled under to get your backpack.
[From where you landed at the beginning of the Virtuous Mission, go left over the log. The Kerotan is sitting on top of the hill there.]
/
''
/

Dolinovodno: In the original NTSC releases (Japan and North America), it's where it was in the Virtuous Mission, but on the north of the bridge instead of the south. In later releases (the PAL/European release, Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, as well as the Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection and Metal Gear Solid: The Leagacy Collection), it's on the "wall" to the east of the northern side of the rope bridge.
[It's on top of the right hill on the other side of the bridge.]
/
''
/

Rassvet: Under the stairs. Use FPV to look under the stairs from the east. You might need to wait until after you meet EVA and fight the Ocelot Unit.
[Under the stairs.]
/
''
/

Chyornyj Prud: Underwater next to a tree between the northeastern exit from the area and the ledge holding the Crocodile Cap. Either throw a grenade at the base of the tree from the shore, or just shoot it while diving underwater. Note: The GA-KO camo is in this area, in the water to the southeast of the northeastern exit. Watch out for the nearby gavial.
[Underwater - You can find it north at the end where you can see a green tree in the middle between the two paths. It's next to the green tree.]

Bolshaya Past South: At the base of several trees immediately next to the eastern portion of the northernmost electric fence.
[Next to the second fence in this area (which is guarded by two soldiers). It's between some trees on the right side of this fence.]
/
  • Tsuchinoko (Tchnko)
Nest/Baltic Hornet's Nest
/

Bolshaya Past Base: Under the table in the bedroom in the main building. Note: Before leaving this area, make sure that you have all kerotans and other items up to this point; you won't be coming back.
[In the middle building, under the desk in the bedroom.]
/
Rat (Rat)
/

Bolshaya Past Crevice: On a ledge to the southeast. You might want to use FPV to look for it while Ocelot is reloading. You'll only be able to hit this kerotan during the fight with Ocelot; once he's beaten, you leave the area automatically.
[Run all the way to the right. Then turn around. The frog is right there.]
(point of no return)
/
  • King Cobra (Snake A)
  • European Rabbit (Rabbit)
/

Chyornaya Peschera Branch: In the hidden room with the Night Vision Goggles (NVG). To get there, go northeast from your starting location into the next part of the cave, go northwest to enter the flooded cave with the waterfall, enter the branch that leads northwest, avoid falling off of the (admittedly short) cliff here, crawl through the small cave to the northeast, crawl through another crawlspace directly in front of you leading to the southeast, then follow the passage into the cave with the kerotan and the NVG. Watch out for the pit between you and your quarry. If you can't see the frog, it's on the wall on the far side of the pit (that is, the south side); you might need to pick up and equip the NVG, light the Torch, or throw down one or more Russian glowcap mushrooms in order to see where it is. Once you have the NVG and the kerotan, it's much quicker to drop down the pit than to go back through the crawlspaces.
[Make your way to the waterfalls. Directly across from the little alcove where you got the torch is a passageway; go through it. Follow it until it dead ends, and then crawl into the crack in the wall. Follow the crack until you get to another open area, where directly across from the opening you just exited is ANOTHER crack in the bottom of the wall. Go through this until you come out in a room with a big hole in the floor. Go into first-person mode. Right across the hole from you is the frog.]

Chyornaya Peschera Cave: In the hole in the cave ceiling over where The Pain appears. You can see it from where you start the fight, or from The Pain's platform once he's beaten; hitting it from the shore before the fight is possible, but difficult, and you'll need to use the Directional Mic to make sure that you did actually hit it. Note: Once you slide down the incline at the start of the next area, you won't be able to come back to either of the first two Chyornaya Peschera areas. Also after defeating the boss you can pick up the Snow suit.
[This is in the same exact area where you fight The Pain. There's a small platform to the south of this area. Swim behind it, and look up. There's a crack in the ceiling right above The Pain, the Kerotan is right there.]

Fish C/Arowana
Snake G/Giant Anaconda
Crab/Kenyan Mangrove Crab
Fish B/Maroon Shark

Chyornaya Peschera Entrance: On a ledge overlooking the alcove with the Claymore mines in the middle of the area. If you shoot the claymores, the explosion might hit the kerotan, but it's not guaranteed. Alternately, pick up the claymores by crawling over them, then shoot the frog from between where the mines were placed.
[Midway through this area, there will be a cave on the left filled with claymore, enter it, and once you're inside, face the cave's entrance and look up. The Kerotan is there.]

Fish A/Bigeye Trevally
Spider/Cobalt Blue Tarantula
Fish B/Maroon Shark
/

Ponizovje Warehouse: On the concrete ceiling rafters on the side where the exit is, but it's not visible from the upper floors. While on the bottom floor, aim up and shoot it from the far hall that leads to the red hinged doors.
[On the rafters, directly above the end of the uppermost floor. The shot is easiest from that floor, but you could shoot it from the far corner in front of the large door if you prefer.]
/
Crab/Kenyan Mangrove Crab
Rat/Rat
/

Graniny Gorki South: On a tree branch immediately southwest of the north exit. Get it before or after the fight with The Fear; it's not worth the bother during the actual fight.
[Run all the way up to the northern exit, look up to your left. It’s on a tree branch.]
(there is a specific rope snare underneath this one that will pick you up off the ground, otherwise harmless but it also puts you directly next to the kerotan so you can easily see it, altho you cannot shoot it while restrained)

  • Japanese Flying Squirrel (Squirrel)
  • Fly Agaric (Mushroom D)
/
Rabbit/European Rabbit
Bird D/Magpie
Frog C/Poison Dart Frog
Snake H/Reticulated Python

Graniny Gorki Lab Exterior: Outside Walls: To the left of the wall. If you crawl back into this area from the Inside Walls area through the opening in the wall, you'll see the kerotan right in front of you.
[Going all the way to the left side, crawling under the fence and then going into the bushes right in front of you. In here there is a hole on the wall that you can crawl into to get inside the walls. The Kerotan however is between the trees right infront of that crawling hole.]
/
  • Red Avadavat (Bird C)

Graniny Gorki Lab Exterior: Inside Walls: Inside the boarded-up building in the southeast. You can see it through the windows on the east and west sides of the building, although the shot is very difficult to pull off through the east window.
/
'' (see lab outside walls)
/

Graniny Gorki Lab 1F: On the first floor, east of the medical room with the scientist inside, on top of the row of lockers.
/
  • Spatsa (Mushroom F)

Graniny Gorki Lab B1 East: In the westernmost cell, on the table next to the cell door. You can punch this one.
/
Spider/Cobalt Blue Tarantula
/

Graniny Gorki Lab B1 West: On the table in the break room between the alarm panel and the lockers. You can punch this one, too.
/

Graniny Gorki South (again):
  • Tsuchinoko (Tchnko)
(use mousetraps over and over until it is captured alive, dispose of other filled traps if they are all filled with other animals, you can reacquire a trap the same way as a claymore, by crawling on it)

Svyatogornyj South: Up on the cliff wall to the south of the entrance from the Ponizovje Warehouse.
[Immediately after entering this area, just run forward until you get into the first patch of high grass. Then turn around and look back at the entrance. At the top, where the concrete meets the dirt, sitting on the very corner is the Kerotan.]

Svyatogornyj West: On the hillock in the southwest, next to the fallen hollow log and the pit trap.
[Head forward and bit until you come to a hollowed-out log laying on the ground. On the hill directly in front of this log is a frog.]
/
  • Ural Luminescent (Mushroom B)
/
Mushroom G/Baikal Scaly Tooth
Nest/Baltic Hornet's Nest
Snake F/Green Tree Python
Bird D/Magpie

Svyatogornyj East: In the bedroom in the barracks building, near the window. You can easily shoot it through the window, and with the sniper rifle, you can even hit it from above the food store building to the west.
/
Rat/Rat
/

Sokrovenno South: On the ledge immediately northeast of the ammo shed. Your best angle to hit it without drawing attention to yourself is by getting close to the cliff face to the northeast of the shed. If you're trying to get the kerotans during the fight with The End, always use a suppressor unless you want him to know where you are, especially if you know that he's on the same part of the map as you - and he starts out on this part of the map on every difficulty setting.
[If you keep going forward, you'll need to jump down from a hill. After you below, go left and you'll see a small building. The Kerotan is behind this building.]

Sokrovenno North: On the ground next to the base of a tree on the southern part of the map. If you follow the cliff wall between the two exits to Sokrovenno South, you'll walk right past it, the first tree you pass is where the Kerotan will be.
[Start out at the middle-south exit. Now hug the left wall and run, following it as it curves around. Pretty soon, you’ll come to a hollowed-out log. Now, keep following the wall, and look behind the VERY NEXT tree that is growing right up against the wall.]

Krasnogorje Tunnel: Hidden behind one of the support pillars on the west of the lower level of the tunnel. Face away from the north wall and you'll see it. Note: Once you drop down the short cliff at the start of the next area, you won't be able to come back to any previous areas. You might want to save your game here or at the start of the next area if you think you might have missed anything.
/
Spider/Cobalt Blue Tarantula
Frog A/Otton Frog
Rat/Rat
/

Krasnogorje Mountain Base: West of the exit to the next area, looking out over the cliff. You'll need to get close to the edge to get a good shot.
[All the way to the northern exit. The Kerotan is up the hill on top of the exit.]
/
  • Emperor Scorpion (Scorption)
  • White-Rumped Vulture (Bird B)
Thai Cobra (Snake C)
/

Krasnogorje Mountainside: On top of the food supply shed. Either shoot it from near the nearby machine gun emplacement, or use a sniper rifle to shoot it from the uppermost cliff path. Blowing up the supply shed with TNT won't effect the kerotan.
[On top of one of the small buildings at the end of this area.]
/
Scorpion/Emperor Scorpion
/

Krasnogorje Mountaintop: On the cliff wall in the far southeast. Shoot it from the south side of the southeasternmost building.
[When you enter this area, you'll see an AA turret a bit forward. On it's right there is a small Snowy area. The Kerotan is there.]
/
Rat/Rat
/

Krasnogorje Mountaintop: Behind Ruins: In the tall red communications tower in the Groznyj Grad facility. A sniper rifle is all but necessary to hit it. (base of the closest tower to you fron the cliff top)
[This is the area where the whole Groznyj Grad is in front of you. Use a Sniper, the Kerotan is in the middle of the radio tower.]
/
Spider/Cobalt Blue Tarantula
Scorpion/Emperor Scorpion
/

Krasnogorje Mountaintop: Ruins: On the top shelf next to the door leading back to the Krasnogorje Mountaintop.
(make sure not to forget this area, it does count as a separate area)
/

Groznyj Grad Underground Tunnel: On the red pipes in front of the door leading to the north. You can hit it with a sniper rifle before the fight with The Fury, or hit it with any firearm during the fight. Note: You won't be able to go back up the ladder and exit this area once you drop down the ladder and start the fight with The Fury. Once you beat him, you lose access to the main part of this area, including the kerotan, and won't be able to go back.
[After going down the stares and moving a bit forward, you'll end up in a dark open area where there is a huge hole in front of you and barrels on your right. The Kerotan is on a red pipe in the middle of the open area.]
(point of no return)
(this kerotan is best hit either before you climb down the ladder for the boss fight, or during the boss fight by standing at the far door at the very end of the area and looking back towards the pit and above
preferably, before reaching the boss fight, use the SVD and look across the length of the central hallway while prone at the railings in front of the pit, the kerotan will be shrouded in some fog, but its otherwise just on top of some large red pipes about halfway up above the floor)

Groznyj Grad Southwest: In the door of a vehicle shed. The shed in question is the middle one in the western column of sheds.
[On the left side of this area, there are tank hangers that are closed except for one which is a little open. Look for and because the Kerotan of sitting on top of the tank's cannon.]
(you gotta be looking straight into the hangar doors because they are nearly shut)

Groznyj Grad Southeast: On the southeast corner of the prison building. Get up on the roof and you'll have a clear shot.

Groznyj Grad Northwest: Up the stairs in the fenced-in area containing the western guard tower. Getting a clear shot through the fence can be difficult; you might need to get up close to hit it. A better idea might be to use the boxes to the east of the fence. Climb on top of them and face west. You should have a clear shot at the Kerotan.
[On some stairs in the midwest of the map. You have to jump on the crates.]
(no you dont, you just have to be facing the correct stairs at the correct angle, and yes you can shoot thru the fence but it will make some noise)

Groznyj Grad Northeast: On the other side of some bars in the underground ditch. There is an entrance to this ditch next to the food supply shed to the northeast, and another entrance in Groznyj Grad Southeast to the north of the prison building.
[In the vent shaft area you can crawl through. Behind some bars.]
(this can also be found easily when you are escaping after a certain story element, altho you will not have any silenced weapons, but there is SAA ammo right in front of it during then)

(best to get this first here and now before you end up in this room against your will if you know what I mean, this building is iirc south east if we assume the main building of groznyj grad is north)
(not to spoil too much but yes you will end up here at a certain point in the story with none of your weapons, there is a loaded m63 in a storage shed on the far other side of the base if you really need this one and forgot to get it, ocelot also gives you a SAA pistol with no ammo)
/

Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: East Wing: On top of the shelf in the northwest corner of the second floor. Raikov's patrol route will eventually take him through here. Note: Getting Raikov's uniform here makes getting through Groznyj Grad much easier; you might want to do so before you go after the kerotans and any other items in the area. Although Raikov's uniform will let you into the south corridor of Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: Main Wing, the part of that area containing the kerotan will not be accessible until later in the game.
[2nd floor Northwest side on top of a shelf.]
(DO NOT MISS THE SNEAKING SUIT IF YOU DIDN'T GET IT BEFORE, it's in one of the lockers in the same area where you stuff raikov, it cuts all damage taken by half which makes it perfect for boss fights and the upcoming motorcycle ride)
/

Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: West Wing (Corridor): On the guard tower to the south of the entrance to this area. You'll need to use a sniper rifle to hit it, meaning that you'll need to change out of Raikov's uniform and probably take out the guards first. Once you've hit the kerotan, kick any unconscious guards to wake them up; if they're dead, leave the area and return, and they'll be replaced. Note: You do not have to get this Kerotan on your first trip to Groznyj Grad. You can get it on your second trip back, if you happened to miss it. Simply get inside the facility and equip your scientist uniform. Run up into the locker room, where you hide Raikov, and progress to the hallway right before the sequence where Snake got caught by Volgin. Pull out your SVD and the Kerotan will be on a light post outside. Shoot it through the window.
[Look out the window to the left. It is sitting up top there]
(lol yea it sure is sitting up top, like they all do)
(point of no return, well not for a little while, do not miss the kerotans here even if you can get them on returning)
/

Tikhogornyj: Immediately in front of the dam to the south. If you don't have the ammo to shoot it or blow it up, you'll need to double back and hit it after you've picked up your Equipment with EVA in the next area behind the waterfall.
[As soon as you start in this area. He is at the end of the river.]
/
  • If you previously captured the Tsuchinoko and did not eat it, then it should be in this area after the Behind Waterfall cutscene(s).

Tikhogornyj: Behind Waterfall: On the pipe to the southwest of the ladder leading back into Groznyj Grad. Note: You won't be able to return to Tikhogornyj once you climb the ladder.
(point of no return)
/
Mushroom D/Fly Agaric
Rat/Rat
Mushroom E/Russian Glow Cap
/

Groznyj Grad:Shagohod Hangar: Behind a pipe between two mainframes on the west side of the Shagohod, opposite one of the fuel tanks. Note: After planting the fourth C3 charge, you'll automatically leave this area, and will not be able to return to this or any previous areas, so make sure that you've picked up everything that you need in Groznyj Grad. In addition, all subsequent areas are one-time areas; after this, there is no going back.
[Near the bottom-left (on a higher platform, not the one near the trucks) fuel thing you need to put C3 on, Look right at the Shagohod and you should see it at your feet.]
(iirc the fuel tanks are in different locations depending on difficulty, otherwise also keep in mind this is a point of no return as soon as you plant the 4th c3 bomb on the fuel tanks)
/

Groznyj Grad: During The Fight Against Volgin: On the southwest rim of the pit. Make sure to shoot it before Volgin is defeated. Be aware that Volgin's electric bolts can and will home in on you as long as you have any metallic weapon equipped, such as a firearm or grenade.
[As soon as the battle start. look to the upper left, it's there.]
snake eater 5 phantom pain
alert: all kerotans during the bike chase have an element of unpredictability because you will be moving almost non stop
make sure to save on entering each area, and do not save again until you know you have hit the kerotan AND moved to the next area
the directional mic is very useful here for listening for the sound of a struck kerotan, to assure confirmation that you have hit it
preferable weapons are the RPG, SVD, or any high capacity high rate of fire accurate fully automatic like the skorpion or xm16e (or patriot, if you have already beaten the game once)
the RPG experiences some projectile drift if you are moving which can be a big problem to correct for while aiming towards the sides, in which case the SVD is a good option when you are being driven straight or are stationary while aiming in any direction, full autos are good in an emergency or while eva drives more erratically but otherwise less preferable, basic pistols are unnecessary because you have infinite ammo while riding in the sidecar and they just don't pull their weight

Groznyj Grad (Bike Chase Part 1 - Pursued By Shagohod): On the eastern guard tower near the end, in what was once Groznyj Grad Northwest. You might be able to hit it with a sniper rifle or RPG the first time that you stop in what was Groznyj Grad Northeast, but don't bet on it. The best spot to hit it is from Groznyj Grad Northwest, where Eva will stop (the area where Snake climbs from out of the sewer after meeting Eva behind the waterfall).
[At the first stop where there are few soldiers, the Kerotan is on the Tower in front of you.]
(you should remember this guard tower the last 2 times you were here, altho this kerotan was not there before)

Groznyj Grad (Bike Chase Part 2 - After Encounter With Ocelot): The Kerotan will be on the seat of a forklift, to your left, when facing the soldiers. When EVA stops the bike, you'll have a clear shot at it with FPV. You might need a sniper rifle to hit it. When EVA stops the bike in this part of the chase, shooting all (or most) of the incoming soldiers will usually prompt EVA to get moving again, so don't do this if you don't want her to drive away just yet.
[The Kerotan is sitting on one of the forklifts in this area.]
(eva will stop directly within a perfect line of sight of this one at some point, just be patient)

Groznyj Grad Runway (Bike Chase Part 3 - Motorcycles): The Kerotan will be on top of a sign on the western side of the runway, about halfway through this section. No, you can't make EVA stop or slow down. Good luck. Eva will be swerving all over the runway. It's probably going to take you at least a few tries to get this, so make sure you save right after entering Runway South. There will be a moment where Eva will swerve to the left, and then slowing down to swerve back to the right. At this moment, the Kerotan will be to your left front, giving you the perfect opportunity. I found this to be the easiest attempt, with an RPG-7. I also recommend equipping your Directional Mic so you can quickly equip it and check to see if you have hit the Kerotan.
[After EVA makes a turn. The Kerotan is on top of one of the boxes on the left side of the runway.]
(the SVD is about perfect here if eva would just keep the bike steady for a second and the enemies would stop shooting at you, consider taking a pentazamin or using the animals camo to steady your scope, if you even see the kerotan move while shooting at it you definitely hit it, but still confirm with the directional mic to be absolutely sure, if you hit it then grats this is one of the 4 hardest to hit in the game)

Groznyj Grad Runway South (Bike Chase Part 4 - Shagohod Attacks): The Kerotan is on top of another sign, this one to the east near the beginning of the area, while the bikes are still chasing you. This one is much easier to hit, since it's closer to the road and EVA isn't weaving around as much. Pull out your SVD right away, and line up a shot. Try to hit it as fast as possible, Eva will be going deceivingly fast and it is easy to miss the shot if not quick enough.
[On the right side, it's again on top of one of the boxes.]

Groznyj Grad Rail Bridge (C3 Sniping): On a closer part of the bridge's lower support structure. Stand up and pan down and to the left to see it. Make sure that you still have the time and ammo to hit however many C3 charges EVA has planted. (Directional Mic recommended).
[First stand up, the Kerotan in under the bridge on the left side.]

Groznyj Grad Rail Bridge (Shagohod Battle): On the nearest corner of the roof of the nearby building. It's best to hit it with a sniper rifle once you're on foot, but masochists may want to do things differently.
[It is in the tower on your left when you begin.]

Groznyj Grad Rail Bridge North (Bike Chase Resumes - Motorcycles and Guards) Between two barricades in front of the parked vehicle near the very end of this area. If you're trying to get no kills for some reason, it's easy to hit the nearest guard, as he likes to walk towards the kerotan (but won't actually walk in front of it, thankfully). The RPG-7 is best for this. (Directional Mic recommended).
[It is between the first barricades near the end.]
(this is by far the hardest to hit, an RPG shell can fly off track as eva does sick drifts and spins donuts, this also makes hitting it with anything else very hard because it is surrounded by barricades and vehicles and you get a tiny window to hit it before eva takes off at full speed, good luck, my personal suggestion is the RPG but you also have to know exactly when its coming up so you can shoot while heading directly towards it so otherwise remember to save at the start of each section, and yes you will have to basically end your game and reload your last save if you miss, it sucks this entire achievement sucks)

Lazorevo South (Bike Chase - Flying Platforms Attack): On the ground to the east near the beginning of the area, at the base of a large tree stump. Use an RPG-7.
[In front of a rock on the ground, on the RIGHT. Near the beginning.]
(literally ground level, and its not too hard to hit as long as you are watching forward and ready for it, if you pass the rock without hitting it you miss your shot but again directional mic will pick up the kerotan sound even thru solid rock)

Lazorevo North (Bike Chase, Final Section - Motorcycles): On a rock directly in front of you and slightly to the left, near the beginning of the area. Again, use an RPG-7. (Directional Mic recommended).
[On top of rock on LEFT. Over the first hill at the beginning.]
(slightly elevated, the last hard to hit kerotan, good job)

Zaozyorje West: On a small ledge below the ravine that you cross with the log bridge. Look down from the middle of the log bridge to see it. It helps to take out or distract your pursuers beforehand.

Snake H/Reticulated Python
Fruit B/Russian False Mango

Cold Medicine Plant
Disinfectant Plant
Fruit C/Golova
Bird D/Magpie
Frog A/Otton Frog
Snake H/Reticulated Python

Rokovoj Bereg: On top of a tree near the middle of the area. Use thermal goggles and the sniper rifle if you have trouble finding or hitting it. Make sure that The Boss isn't too close when you start looking for it; her Patriot and her CQC can and will interrupt you. Defeating The Boss starts the final sequence of cutscenes, so make sure that you've hit the kerotan before beating her.
/
  • Snake Solid (Snake J)
  • Snake Liquid (Snake I)
  • Snake Solidus (Snake K)
(these 3 found on or near the logs at the edges of the zone, they are white and can be hard to see even with thermal, so try and look for movement
also remember that if you lose this fight either by running out of time or getting killed, you need to get these snakes again, same for any other area in the game)
