Intro
This mod allows Need For Speed Rivals to run at a higher framerate while keeping gameplay intact, unlike the old method of using launch commands which causes major gameplay issues.
How To Install
  • Download the mod on NFSMods [nfsmods.xyz] or on GitHub [github.com].
  • Copy and paste the contents of the archive to NFS Rivals' root directory.
  • Download Frosty Mod Manager from here [github.com].
  • Add NFS Rivals as a game. Make sure to select NFS14.exe and NOT NFS14_x86.exe.

  • Go to File > Pack > Import and select the RivalsUnlocked.fbpack file from the Scripts folder on the game's directory. Click Apply Mod(s) and from there you should be able to launch the game through Frosty Mod Manager.

Note
You have to ALWAYS launch the game through Frosty Mod Manager otherwise it won't work.
Adjustments
  • If you want to change the max framerate, open commands.txt in your NFS Rivals directory and change the value of -GameTime.MaxVariableFps 200 to whatever value you'd like.

  • If you prefer to have VSync enabled you can also remove -RenderDevice.VsyncEnable 0 from commands.txt or set its value to 1.

Outro
Now you can finally enjoy the game at a higher framerate without having your gameplay messed up. Have fun!

Special thanks to Brawltendo for creating this mod so long after the game was released!

For some reason the driver model as well as the steering wheel are clipping out of the car while driving

Followed all instructions, mod installed and worked properly. Followed AdamsApple advice down below V, and that helped the first 5ish hours go by smoothly. After that however, i'm getting a crash roughly every 30-45 minutes and it kills all speedpoint gains and chains.

Tried loweing the -GameTime.MaxVariableFps factor to 60, hoping maybe that would make it easier for the game to keep up. Nope, still crashes roughly every 45mins.

Either mod needs more work or this game just cannot handle this fps.

Here are the settings I used and it seems to crash less often,
-Client.VisualFrameInterpolation 1 -GameTime.MaxVariableFps 90 -RenderDevice.VsyncEnable 1 -Ant.InterpolatePoses 0

I remember the old method sometimes making the game "stop" in time when set to 60 fps because the game simply couldn't render everything and every npc car. Is this still a thing?

Seems to be randomly crashing on me while I try to complete the racer tutorial

There is no need to create it. Look at my second message. Download the mod from GitHub, there is a crooked version without this file on NFSMods

Filred, i dont have command txt, need to create it yourself?

For some reason, 200 fps cannot be reduced using commands.txt (for example, I need 60). You can limit the frame rate using the Nvidia Control Panel.

Download the mod from GitHub, not from NFSMods. NFSMods does not have a commands.txt file, and if you manually create one, the mod will not work. And the mod from Github runs the first time!
