Star shot is absurdly overpowered. Pick up a Great Arbalest (and then later, Screaming Bow/The Great Arc ). Go into melee range. Use Star Shot. Watch as the enemy is hit by 4 high powered bolts, your energy back up to 100, and to top it all off, you didn't have to spend 60+ ticks doing so, because Star Shot is literally faster than normal shooting.
Slam is also good once your strength is high. It can instantly kill things if used correctly. Like sending non-flying enemies into pits, or lightweight but tanky enemies (Scarab) into walls for 300 damage. Sadly not very useful against strong, flying enemies (like spectral knights or great gazers)
Gash is for farming potions. But I didn't really need to brew very many. Just a few oils and cure-alls. Water is by far the most useful thing you can put in a bottle, in my opinion.
All other abilities I tried sucked: slam, trap, star shot, gash (unless devoted to the lady), bloodstone, betrayal, berserk and hallowed grond.
Moon is too radnom and does not deal enough damage.
Constracts are too hard to obtane and does a little damage.
Wolf is tanky and killy.
About DH's summon i did not try it.
I suspect ALL the summons are worth it.
The puppet summon thing is also quite useful, as it distracts enemies and often does lots of damage.
Haven't used much else, but it's obvious they're good.
