Director's Cut roadmap for achievement hunters who already 100%'ed the original game
By Ccf
This guide is intended at completionists who already perfected the original version of Death Stranding. It can however be of some help for achievement hunters struggling with Master Builder, Trail Blazer and especially the Homо-Faber achievement.

What follows will help you add another perfected game to your list, without spending 100 more hours on the Director's Cut version. In less than 10 hours or so, you will add a new 100% to your profile following that guide.

Yes, you can have both the original and the DC version as perfected games, each will count as a separate game.

Set yourself comfortably for the achievements hunt:
Just follow these steps:
  • Buy the upgrade from the original to the DC version of the game (usually 10€ and can drop to only 5€ during sales).
  • (Re)download and install the original version of the game you already own.
  • Launch the original version and export your last save from the main menu, a save that is obviously tied to your 100% completion.
  • Download, install and then launch the DC version of the game.
  • Once in the main menu of the DC version, choose Import save to have the game fetch that original game save of yours.
  • Click on continue and...
...then you will have that satisfactory moment during which 59 out of the 63 achievements will pop up one after the other!

Great! That's 59/63 achievements cleared, so what's next?

You only need to work on 3 achievements
Since the last achievement is like the Platinum trophy that is acquired on PlayStation as soon as you get all the others, you will actually need to work on 3 achievements out of the 4 that are lacking.

Yes, you did already acquire these achievements on the original game, but since they are related to new structures or items that were added with the Director's Cut version, then there's a little more to do before obtaining them.

.jpg]- Master Builder (build all structures). The achievement tracker in Steam should show 10 out of 13 constructions, meaning you'll have 3 more structures to build before acquiring that achievement.

.jpg]- Trail-Blazer (upgrade all structures to the max level). The tracker will be at 7/10. Again 3 more to go and obviously, that is the 3 new structures you'll have to first build then upgrade to level 3. It only requires materials once the blueprints are in your possession, so pretty straightforward.

.jpg]- Homо-Faber (fabricate all available items). The tracker for that achievement should be at 72 out of 108. That is the last achievement you will earn and the most time consuming one of the lot, as you need to complete some new missions to acquire the blueprints needed to then be able to fabricate said items.

Master Builder and Trail Blazer
These two achievements are obviously related. The three new buildings are the Jump Ramp, the Chiral Bridge and the Cargo Catapult. The Cargo Catapult will be available from a PCC level 2 as soon as you head back into the game. The two others won't unlock right away, they'll become available to you as you complete the new orders added with the Director's Cut version that are story-related, so the "Orders for Sam" ones.

Homо-Faber
That achievement requires you to fabricate all items from the Half-Life and CyberPunk missions of the original game plus, of course, all the new items that the Director's Cut version brings. The Half-Life & CyberPunk related items were not required to unlock the Homо-Faber achievement on the original version of the game. Now they are! Also you now have to fabricate all variants of some items like the Power Skeleton. A comprehensive list of all needed items is provided at the end of the present guide.

Roadmap for the remaining achievements
Did you complete all Valve & Cyberpunk related missions during your first playthrough? If you did, good for you: you can skip what's in the box below. Otherwise, well... on to more reading!

Valve & Cyberpunk items
Valve (Half-Life & Portal) & Cyberpunk missions were added in the original game but were not required for the initial Homо-Faber achievement. In the DC edition, the blueprints you get as rewards for completing some of the missions are needed.

Valve's missions (λ) requires you to look for a cube while Cyberpunk's ones [V] ask you to retrieve some chips. You do not need to complete all series of missions to unlock things you can fabricate. Save yourself some time and have a look at the list of required missions below to complete only those:

Valve missions (Half-Life & Portal):
(λ) Cube #1 is next to the river just North from the Distribution Center West of Capital Knot City. Unlocks Gordon Freeman's glasses.
(λ) Cube #2 is located next to Peter Englert's bunker. No fabricatable item unlocked but unlocks next mission.
(λ) Cube #3 is in a Mule camp northwest of the Distribution Center South of Lake Knot City. Unlocks the Gravity Gloves.
(λ) Cube #4 is situated west-northwest of the Craftsmen's bunker. Unlocks the orange Half-Life Truck.

Cyberpunk missions:
[V] Order no. 71 : Head South of the South Knot City Distribution Center. Nothing unlocked except the next [V] order.
[V] Order no. 72 : Head to the Mule Camp South of Lake Knot City. Unlocks the Reverse Trike "Yaiba Kusanagi".
[V] Order no. 73 : Mule Camp North of Mountain Knot City. Unlocks Johnny's Sunglasses.
[V] Order no. 74 : Mule Camp North of Mountain Knot City (again). Unlocks Johnny's Silver Hand.

Complete new orders and missions added by the Director's Cut version
Doing this is going to earn you all new blueprints for structures and items. After you imported your save and clicked on the "Continue" button, you will receive an incoming call by Die-Hardman. He will ask you to head to West Distribution Center for a new story-related order (an "Order for Sam") that is order no. 77. Go ahead and accept that mission.

This will lead you to a new area, the Ruined Factory, really close to West Distribution Center, in which you'll have to take down MULES several times through successive missions all happening in the same area. Simply complete order no.77 and then the ones that will follow and you'll consecutively unlock several items.

Orders you need to complete to unlock new items:
  • No. 77 (given @West Distribution Center) : unlocks the Maser Gun and the Support Skeleton
  • No. 80 (given @Weather Station) : unlocks the Jump Ramp
  • No. 81 (given @Chiral Artist's Studio) : unlocks the Chiral Bridge
  • No. 83 (given @Waystation South of Lake Knot City) : unlocks the Buddy Bot

Complete orders 77, 78 and 79 and then sleep in a Private Room. This triggers a call from Die-Hardman giving you order 80. Complete that order, sleep again and get a new call from the masked man, then head to the Chiral Artist's Studio to receive order no. 81. Do this one, then order no. 82, and sleep once more to receive yet another call from Die-Hardman so that you can unlock order no. 83.

At this point, you can build all new structures required for Master Builder & Trail Blazer achievements!

Master Builder & Trail Blazer unlocked!

Remember you can retrieve large supplies of materials in every Knot City or Distribution Center, should you find yourself short on materials as you are building like a madman.

Complete order no. 35, build the race track and earn S ranks in races
Now that you've did the new stuff and by the way learned more regarding Fragile, head to the Distribution Center South of Lake Knot City to accept order no. 35. This mission asks you to build the race track south of the Timefall Farm, which requires 650 Chiral crystals, 2240 Metals and 1960 Ceramics. Once the track is built, you will want to earn S ranks in the Roadster's races to unlock two blueprints. That may require a bit of practice but nothing too challenging if you're not awful at racing games.

The normal Roadster's blueprint is the first reward you will get as it is awarded for any S rank achieved on any Roadster race. And then, acquiring S ranks on all Roadster races will grant you the Long Range version of the Roadster, which is another vehicule you'll need to fabricate for the achievement.

Let's fabricate and earn the last two achievements
Now that you have completed all new missions and earned S ranks racing all Roadster tracks, you are the happy owner of all required blueprints to earn the Homо-Faber achievement (and then subsequently, the very last achievement for collecting all the others). I've added a list of all the items that must be fabricated at the end of that guide for your convenience.

On top of the new items you've unlocked plus the Valve & CP77 ones, you also want to fabricate several variations of existing items. You should have plenty of resources and so no issue whatsoever building everything (you can always retrieve materials via recycling). Just like with structures fabrication, you can always jump to another Knot City to find tons of materials if needed.

Remember that each and every item you fabricate at least once is then marked via a small checkmark within a box in the bottom left corner of that item. That's a convenient way to know what remains to be fabricated. If that small box has no checkmark, go ahead and fabricate the item!

The only items you cannot bulk fabricate are vehicules since there is a limited number of places in each garage. Vehicules cannot be recycled, so just make some room in the garage by getting rid of the already fabricated vehicules whenever you're ready to build the next one.

Doing so will eventually grant you the last two achievements:

Homо-Faber unlocked!

Greatest of Great Deliverers unlocked!

And with that, that's another perfected game added to your hunter's profile.
Congrats!
