To my understanding while reading the game manual: due to a traumatic experience during childhood, Daniel developed Nyctophobia, an irrational fear of the dark, so while a lot of stuff would fly with him (human torture and executions of example) the dark caused his brain to shut down uncontrollably.

Lol, oh shit, then it sounds legit because he had hurt people before he became amnesiac on purpose. Maybe it's the old emotions acting up now, mostly the ones when he said "paint the man, cut the lines" in a weird sing-song tone
Daniel does have some screws loose, but not always in the way we think he has lol

Actually, when Daniel took the head, he recovered sanity. He seemed like he enjoyed the process

I'm sure he just swallowed his fear and disgust deep down from us players when he cut Agrippa's head off lol

Daniel is built different, somehow he can just simply cut off someones head off and be unfazed but if he stays in the dark for a bit he starts to go fucking insane
