I wanted them to be helpful in exploration, and I wanted them to survive for a long time in most expeditions. so I set high HP. But when they start attacking players by tracking them with high HP, it becomes a disaster. So I reduced their aggression, reduced aggro range. If the aggro is too high, they leave the player alone during the expedition and start fighting in the distance with out-sight monster.
Now that I've found another way to survival rate in adventure, I've reduced their HP. Still have more HP than other monsters, but at least not as tanky as before.
They also don't seem to get aggroed by getting hit (too small aggro distance I guess) so it's just stand and shoot at them from distance for 10-20 seconds... Also when using sniper rifles - their hitbox is very unexpected (I guess around head, but all the body below is invulnerable).
And if they get pushed by explosion into a wall they get stuck there (and that's not bad :D).
As they are quite numerous sometimes - it can slow the movement very significantly, especially on higher tier planets where they need >10 shots to take down.
stuck? is that mean they can't follow you? can you tell me detail?
As far as I know, monsters in Starbound are spawn regardless of time. Spawn by location. Spawn in a place with no light, walled (not installed by the player). So run around the surface of the planet Sometimes they come out. My recommendation is to look around the oasis, they are especially popular in desert oasis. Or look for another planet. In my experience, monsters come out more often when exploring new maps.
If the nornil spawn rate is higher than now, then planet exploration becomes difficult. They have annoying knock back and burnning projectile, and they have high hp.
I don't want them to be annoying monsters
I plan that When people explored one planet, they would be see one or two of Nornil.
