Prologue
A dark she-wolf walked across the rubble and sniffed the rocks. A black paw came out of the rubble making rocks tumble. The she-wolf scrambled away in fear. The paw pulled up and revealed a black she-wolf with dark green eyes. She had blood on the right side of her face, and most of her body and some of her legs too. She had an amulet that used to be green, but was corrupted, so it looked black with some glowing crimson spots. She cracked her neck. “Raven will regret ever crossing me.” The female said her voice disordered. Her green eyes turned corrupted by black, and her pupils turned red. Blood dripped from her face as she walked forward. The chirping birds went silent. Animals nearby fled sensing the evil of the she-wolf. Wolves from all around sensed this presence, even ones underground. “Raven you better hope that I can’t find you.” The she-wolf snarled. Animals who heard this shivered, they hoped whoever this Raven was, wasn’t someone they knew, or some gentle and nice ones hoped she would be ok. The animals who were rude hoped this wolf would kill this “Raven”.
Ch. 1: The Amulet
Raven stood by Realm, Spirit, Unlit, and Mystery. A she-wolf approached them with starry fur. She gave a part yellow, part green amulet to Realm, a green one to Raven, a yellow one to Unlit, a purple one for Mystery, and a white with some grey for Spirit. “These amulets will help you conceal your power without it bursting out, it will also act as a magic immune system fighting of evil from taking you over, if it is black that means it has been corrupted, if it is turning black in means you need to seek help.” The celestial she-wolf said and nodded. She disappeared and the black she-wolves rose. Goldenheart, Rose and Dream already got their amulets, Goldenheart had gotten a gold one, Rose a red one, and Dream a light purple one. They turned around on a rock and wolves below cheered. Raven jumped off and headed to Timber, her mate. Raven and Timber headed behind the waterfall and laid down. It was dawn out and the stars were just disappearing. Suddenly she felt something, like an evil power force was at work. She was scared, this evil seemed familiar, she had run into it before, but she just couldn’t think. Raven scooted closer to Timber, he had sensed the evil as well, maybe not as extreme as she did, but he still sensed it probably from Raven being tensed up. Raven looked at her amulet and sighed in relief, it wasn’t turning black. Mystery came in and sat down. “Raven, did you sense that as well?” Mystery asked. “Yes, some evil has been released in the forest.” Raven answered. “Should I get the pups and mothers to take them to the mountains?” Mystery asked. Raven shook her head. “No, that wouln’t be necessary.” Raven said and got up. Realm came in followed by Frozen. “We found a dead elk near our territory, but it’s odd, there is marks that a wolf killed it, but no scent.” Frozen explained. “What were you doing over there?” Raven asked. “We were collecting herbs.” Realm answered. “Did you sense the evil too?” Mystery asked. “Yes, it was extremely strong from where we were.” Realm answered. Frozen looked between them, his eyes confused. “The amulets must help us sense evil as well!” Raven exclaimed her eyes opened wide. Unlit entered the den and looked at Raven. “I’m leaving the ‘Order of the Cave’ needs me, your welcome to visit.” Unlit said and left the den. Raven heard Unlit and Spirit arguing. Spirit entered the den and sighed. “Spirit, are you ok?” Raven asked. “Unlit wants me to join the order, but I wanna stay in Waterfall Pack.” Spirit said her ears low. “You’re allowed to stay here.” Raven said blinking. Spirit nodded and headed out talking to Unlit. Unlit sighed and padded off.
Ch. 2: The Warning
As Raven and Mystery were discussing the amulets with Realm, Buttercup and Juniper from Willow Tree Pack came in rushed. “Hello! Why in a rush?” Realm asked. “Sherlock…. Scar…they are planning to kill you!” Buttercup said out of breath. “Ok…calm down…” Raven said in a calming voice. “Wait their what?!?!?” Mystery exclaimed. “They are planning to kill Raven.” Juniper said looking worriedly at Buttercup. “They are waiting till it’s been a while since Phantom you killed Phantom.” Buttercup said sitting down. “He must be waiting for wolves forgetting I’m the one who destroyed her, what a flea-bitten scoundrel.” Raven growled. “Both of them are.” Mystery said as she looked over at them. “They are stupid moron faces!” Raven growled. “What?” Mystery asked confused. “What?” Raven asked looking at Mystery. “Nothing, that was just totally random.” Mystery said closing her eyes awkwardly. “Well, we must go now, they are probably wondering what happened to us. Take care!” Buttercup said and left, going past the waterfall. “Watch out for those fleabags!” Juniper called out as she left. “I will!” Raven replied. Timber stared at his mate worriedly, if his mate was going to be in danger, he would do everything in his power to keep her safe. Raven sighed and made sure her bow was on nice. Timber helped tighten it as he thought of the moves to use against any attacker. ‘Anyone who messes with her, will mess with me as well.’ Timber thought as he gently helped his mate. Raven licked Timber softly on his left ear and went back to her meeting with Mystery and Realm. Timber went out of the den and looked around; he looked defensively around challenging anyone who had a fault with Raven. As Cardinal passed, Timber growled at him. “What in Dusk Pack is wrong with you?” Cardinal asked, his eyes narrowed. “Why do you wanna pass?” Timber asked as Cardinal rolled his eyes. “If your afraid I’m gonna murder Raven, your wrong, I was just looking for Fawn, I thought she headed this way.” Cardinal answered. “No, I haven’t seen Fawn.” Timber replied, as he looked at Cardinal’s face, he saw worry slip through. “Please call me if you see her.” Cardinal said, his voice cracking. Timber felt nothing but pity on this male, even if he hates Raven, he knew Cardinal met what he said. “Could I warn the ones inside about Fawn?” Cardinal asked. “Sure, but I’ll go with you.” Timber answered. Cardinal’s eyes filled with worry and anger, he wasn’t trusted, but he wanted to be. Timber led Cardinal into the den and sat staring at him as he told Raven, Realm, and Mystery to look out for Fawn. They all agreed to go searching for her. Timber tried to make Raven not go, but she didn’t listen.
Ch. 3: Mangled
Raven quickly found Fawn’s scent. “She’s over here!” Raven yelled. She caught Realm’s, Dream’s, Spirit’s, Mystery’s, and Cardinal’s attention, Timber was already there. “You only caught her scent.” Cardinal complained. “And not a good sign, this is hours old! And I smell no fresh nearby!” Dream exclaimed worried for her friend. Cardinal worriedly looks over to where his sister walked. There was mud ahead with some pawprints inside and after the mud puddle had some muddy paws trailed from the puddle. “Oh! I hope she’s alright!” Cardinal exclaimed. They followed the scent and mud trail of Fawn’s paws and wandered far from the den. They spotted claw marks on the ground which told that Fawn started running. Raven smelled an extra scent, an evil one. Cardinal looked more worried as he saw the claw marks in the dirt. They ran, and soon they saw a body on the ground. It was Fawn, A lot of her face was bloody and so was a lot of her body, the tip of her tail had also been cut off. The sight was horrible. Fawn’s left ear had a V shaped hole, and On her shoulder was a carving from claws that said “PH”. They only thought of one thing. “Phantom.” They all said at once, excluding Fawn and Cardinal. Fawn was barely alive. They dragged her cautiously to Frozen’s den. Realm went in quickly and got some marigold and chewed it up and poured the juice into Fawn’s wounds. Frozen spotted the “PH” that was carved into Fawn’s shoulder. “Phantom is back?” Frozen asked. Raven nodded and felt angry, how dare Phantom mess with them! As Frozen and Realm placed cobwebs to help stop the bleeding, and leaves to stay on the wounds, Cardinal felt angry at himself. Frozen carefully put a leaf over the “PH” not carving it, or it would be extremely obvious that Phantom was back. Many asked what happened to Fawn, they answered that it was a bear attack. Fawn fell into a coma; Cardinal was worried she would never wake up. Raven carefully led some patrols to look out for something odd. Timber stayed in the alpha den telling others what to do, he was worried for Raven. Every time Raven came back to the den, she would be exhausted. Timber was so worried when she came in this night because she flopped onto the den floor almost out of breath. “You are obviously over-working yourself! Just stop it!” Timber exclaimed worried and mad. “Timber, I have to make sure Phantom doesn’t suddenly appear and kill one of my packmates.” Raven said tired. Timber adverted his gaze and looked behind him. “Ok.” He whispered.
Ch. 4: Plan of Attack
Sherlock was sitting by Scar in his den, they were planning an attack on waterfall pack. Buttercup franticly ran into the den with Nuke in pursuit. “What’s wrong?” Sherlock asked, quickly getting up. “It’s Ashby, she’s dead!” Buttercup said her voice filled with panic. “What! Who killed her?” Sherlock asked, his eyes filled with anger. “It was Phantom.” Buttercup answered. “Phantom is dead!” Sherlock said shaking his head, “It must have been Raven.” Sherlock growled as he thought of it, he had the whole plan of attack Raven must of done. “There is no scent, but everything points to Phantom, including the ‘PH’ cut into her side.” Buttercup said looking into her alpha’s eyes. “Phantom is not back; Raven is just trying to scare us. If she thinks she has, well she’s mistaken. When Nuke and Buttercup left the den, Sherlock and Scar started talking more about their plan of destroying Raven once and for all, anyone who stands in their way will die. Scar left after sunset and went to his den. Sherlock stayed in his den all alone, not even any of his older pups were able to give him compassion. Everyone said that Phantom was back, not that Raven killed Ashby. Sherlock and Scar were the only ones who thought Raven killed Ashby. When Sherlock fell asleep that night he dreamed.

He saw Raven, although she didn’t look like herself, she looked how Sherlock imagined her. Raven had sharp teeth and devil horns, her eyes were red, and her bow was ripped. Her black fur had scars all over the place and she looked evil, like she had blood in her fur. Raven hid beneath bushes as she looked out she saw Ashby, which looked like an angel to Sherlock. Raven pounced out of the bushes and killed Ashby. The dream faded, but he saw a celestial being in blackness, it walked towards Sherlock. “Who you seek, is innocent, that dream you had was all your imagination.” Is all the celestial being said. Sherlock tried to question the being, but it didn’t answer, it disappeared, and he woke up.
Sherlock deeply thought of the dream he had and threw away the words of the being. He would not let anyone stop him from killing Raven in cold-heart revenge.
Ch. 5: Horror
Raven stood up in her den, Timber was already gone, weird. Raven got up and shook herself. She realized that it seemed gloomier. She went out of the den. As she looked at the water, she noticed it was grey, and it didn’t look as magnificent and magical as it used to. Raven thought it looked dreary. She turned around, she couldn’t see anyone. She started to panic, until she realized she saw Dream, Mystery, and Spirit. “What’s going on?” She asked them as she headed to where they were sitting. She realized that they didn’t look very lifelike at all. Raven put her paw on Mystery’s shoulder. “Mystery?” She asked, and as she put pressure Mystery fell back revealing no face with blood poring out, but the blood was a deep red instead of a bright red. “Ah!” Raven exclaimed. She looked at the others, they were also faceless, their amulets were blackened. As she looked to where they were looking, she gasped. She saw all her packmates lying dead in the field, the pups were lying next to their fallen mom’s who had tried to protect them but failed and had fallen as well as her pups. “This is all your fault.” Realm’s voice said behind her. “No, it’s not.” Raven said desperately. “You can’t trick me anymore; you said you were my friend! Now this has happened! And it’s all your fault!” Realm growled, her eyes bursting with tears. As Raven looked closer at the fallen, she noticed Ori-Kai with her quill still stuck through her ear. “What happened?” Raven begged. “You know very well what happened, you ordered us to escape to the mountains, the Willow Tree forces attacked and all of them died! You were the only one they wanted. But instead, you led everyone to their doom! Why did you do it?” Realm demanded. “I guess I tried to lead them.” Raven said her heart was broken. “No, Timber did, you said you’ll stay behind. Me, Mystery, Dream, and Spirit decided to stay with you, They all died, but me, and you! You deserved to die!” Realm snarled. “I wouldn’t ever do this, please help me Realm!” Raven begged. “Oh, I’ll help alright!” Realm boomed her eyes turned white and called out spirits of the deceased. “I knew I shouldn’t ever have followed you guys and joined!” Cardinal growled. “I should never have joined you, you traitor!” Snarled Mystery. Dream stared blankly at Raven her eyes filled with tears. “I left everything I love, for what? Because I thought you were my friend!” Dream sobbed. “Fawn died first, then we all died under a few minutes.” Cardinal snarled. Raven felt overwhelmed. “You forced us to leave, you signed the deaths of my pups!” A mother said with 3 pups standing by her. “Raven! Raven!” Raven heard someone calling. “Raven wake up!” The voice called again. Raven blinked.

Raven opened her eyes, she was still laying down in her den, Timber leaned over her. “Thank goodness you are alright! That sounded like one nasty dream!” Timber said and carefully rubbed his head on her neck. Raven’s amulet had some black etching in it, but it stopped and went away, but No one noticed it. Realm hurried into the den. “Do not go to the mountains!” Raven exclaimed still under horror from her dream. “What? I’m just here to tell you that Fawn woke up.” Realm said with an important side in her voice.
Ch. 6: The Talk
Raven stared at Realm in confusion. “What?” Raven asked. “Fawn woke up.” Realm answered. Raven thought deeply she had been told she had died, by Cardinal…in her dream. “Is something wrong Raven?” Realm asked. Raven shook her head. “No, nothing at all.” Raven said trying to smile. “She had a nasty nightmare.” Timber whispered. Realm nodded her head and led Raven carefully to the theta den. Raven looked at the waterfall, it still looked magical and majestic. Raven sighed in relief as she saw the entire pack living normally. Raven carefully slipped herself into the theta den and saw Fawn who was looking around. The eye that just escaped getting cut, was puffy. Next to Fawn was a medic pulling a parasite out of a wolf. The wolf was far enough from Fawn to not get the parasite into her. The medic succeeds in taking out the parasite, which was a leech, it had burrowed into the wolf and had only showed its tail. The medic squashed the leech on the ground and poured some cold water into the wound, then put in marigold juice to prevent infection. The medic put leaves on it, since a lot of the blood was sucked by the leech. “How’s Rufus?” Realm asked. “He’s doing better since I took out the leech. “And a good job too.” Frozen said looking over the wolf he was treating. The medic blushed in embarrassment at the praise. She looked carefully at Raven. “You, ok? You look a little pale.” She asked. “I’m alright, Silver.” Raven answered and yawned. Silver nodded and went back to her medic duties. “She is doing well for her leg.” Raven said. “Yes, she is, occasionally it will mess with her, but it doesn’t affect her duties.” Frozen replied as he looked up from his work. “Well let’s not keep Fawn waiting.” Realm said tugging on Raven’s tail. Raven nodded and followed Realm to Fawn. Fawn was looking at Raven carefully, her hurt eye was swollen. “Raven?” Fawn asked. “Yes, how are you feeling?" Raven asked. “Awful, I had to drink foul tasting liquid to help my eye to swell less.” Fawn said her optimism trying to seep its way out. Raven smiled and shook her head, laughter shown brightly in her eyes. Silver came over to give Fawn some water that was in a hallow rock she found outside. Fawn carefully lapped the water then looked at Raven. “I’m sure you’re not here just to look at me, what do you wanna know?” Fawn asked. “Was it really Phantom who attacked you?” Raven whispered. Fawn nodded her head. “She was invisible at first, but she reveled herself to let me know it was her who did this to me, she was about to kill me until she saw you guys, then she ran off. She looked messed up, bloody everywhere, her amulet was corrupted.” Fawn said in a hushed town. Silver came back over and dropped a bunny for Fawn to eat. Fawn ate it as Silver turned to Raven. “I think you should leave your presence is freaking out the patients.” Silver said softly. Raven nodded her head in understanding and went out of the theta den. Mystery met her and Raven told her what Fawn told her. Mystery’s eyes narrowed as she looked at Raven. Raven went back home and was laid by Timber who was glad she was back.
Ch. 7: Attack
It was dark, Raven had woken up and stared into the starry sky. Her ears pricked up as she picked up some distant howling. She loosened; it was far away. Then she heard a closer howl. She tensed up and narrowed her eyes. “Intruders!” The watch wolf exclaimed. Raven growled and looked around; her bow swayed in the wind. She hopped up to her feet and was suddenly pushed down. She felt a paw on her head hold her down, claws drove into her face. As she spotted the other paw, she knew who this wolf was. “Scar! How dare you dishonor the peace between packs!” Raven snarled. “Technically we never included you, and you also would have broken it first after killing Ashby!” Scar growled. “A-Ashby’s dead?” Raven asked, her eyes filling with tears. Raven remembered Ashby’s tenderness; she was one of the only ones who treated her with respect. “How dare you lie to me!” Scar growled and pressed harder. Suddenly Raven heard a growl and saw a flash of fur. The animal pushed Scar off Raven. Raven got up slowly feeling blood trickle from where Scar’s claws were. Raven spotted Everest, her aunt. Everest was completely beating up Scar. Raven met another Willow Tree Wolf in battle, soon the territory was filled with growls, teeth, and claws. Scar soon called off the fight. “I swear we’ll be back! Mark my words you Scoundrel!” Scar growled as he retreated. Raven knew he meant his words. “Fluff! I’m bleeding all over the place!” Dream exclaimed in anger. “Shiitake mushrooms! So am I!” Another called. “This attack was to make us weak.” Raven thought out loud. Timber looked over at his mate and agreed silently. Raven stared at her pack; they were all hurt. The theta, iota, and medics will be overworked. Raven shivered all over, she feared the outcome this would give them. Timber Nudged Raven softly with his nose trying to get her to follow him. When Raven snapped back to reality, she noticed Timber was trying to get her attention. Raven got up and followed him to the den. “We got to get ready.” Timber said and looked into Raven’s eyes. “I know, but they’ve weakened us, with not even half of their warriors.” Raven replied and shook her head. “Do you wish Rose and Goldenheart were still over here?” Timber asked. “Of course, I do, but they are on a mission from Dawn Pack, no one can stop them.” Raven answered. “I don’t get why they didn’t choose you to go as well.” Timber said confused. “Because Phantom is still alive, and I have to take care of my pack.” Raven answered and licked Timber’s ear tenderly. Timber smiled. “I hope it wouln’t take long, since it is fall, and on the brink of winter.” Timber replied with a serious look. “So do I, and in spring we are planning on having our first litter.” Raven said looking into Timber’s brown eyes. Timber nodded; he hopes they would be able to have their first litter in the spring.
Ch. 8: Winter Approaches
After 4 days Winter came, and the first snow fell. Raven had heard about some winter puppies being announced, from some wolves who were holding pups. Raven wished the pups the best of luck, even though they’d be born later. Raven announced some yearlings’ names and what their occupation will be. Raven looked after her pack carefully, after all they were still a little weak from Willow Tree Pack. Raven began training with Timber for any upcoming fight. Every wolf started to train. No matter how cold it was they trained their hardest. Raven set up extra watches and made the gammas and scouts must scout the territory more, since Willow Tree Pack might get Mangrove Swamp Pack into the fight. Raven growled at herself as she was thrown into the snow by Timber yet again. “Raven your getting tired, we should rest.” Timber said worried. “No! I will train all the time I have free!” Raven growled back as she got up. Timber looked at Raven with sadness in his eyes. “You are getting overworked.” Timber said pointing to some bloodstains in the snow from Raven’s paw pads. Raven looked and lifted her sore paws, the paw pads were cracked and oozing out blood, she didn’t feel pain since her paws were numb. “Let’s go to the warm den, rest up a little.” Timber said softly. “Fine.” Raven sighed. Timber carefully led Raven to the den. Raven looked back to where they had trained, blood stained the snow where her pawprints in the snow were. When they arrived back to the den Raven fell asleep almost instantly. Timber stayed up sending out scouts and making sure some of the wolves were training or telling them to take a break. The pack was all excited by the training, that some pups tried to train, their mothers told them no. May a yearling was extremely working her tail off, she made sure everyone was rested up and at the same time making sure they worked hard. “May!” Timber exclaimed. May looked over at him and looked down, she had a yellow flower on her right ear, and she was white with orange and red in her fur. “May go rest, let me the alpha handle this.” Timber said to her. “But I wanna help!” May exclaimed. “Do your job, be a medic, not a warrior.” Timber said staring at her. “C-can I at least hunt?” May asked. “In winter everyone is supposed to hunt.” Timber replied and walked off leaving May to look at her paws feeling useless. Silver the medic with the lame leg went over to May and comforted her.
Ch. 9: Sky
Raven woke up and stared out the den everyone was working hard, some were even making defenses. “Raven.” Dream said making Raven jump. “Yes?” Raven asked. “We found some Willow Tree pack wolves in our territory; they have a message for you.” Dream said looking around. Dream led Raven to their prison, Raven went into the prison den and looked at 3 wolves with a different scent, Raven recognized the oldest wolf, it was Sky she was 2 like Raven, they got names together. The other ones were pups. “Why are you here?” Raven asked. “I’m just scared Raven.” Sky said with tears as the pups scooched in, they were around 3 months. “Why did you come here?” Raven asked. “These pups.” Sky answered nudging them. The smallest was a female and the bigger one was a male. “What is the reason?” Raven asked. “You see they are mine; Una is the female and Blake is the male, but the problem is they had their ceremony yesterday, giving them names, Una became River, and Blake became Blaze, they are trying to get the pups to train to fight, I don’t want them to!” Sky cried. Raven looked at the pups carefully. River was a white she-wolf with bright green eyes, while Blaze had fiery red and orange fur with yellow eyes. “Why did you bring them here? You know the pack is enemies to Willow Tree Pack.” Raven asked. “Well, I am not a part of their darn pack anymore! Sherlock could go to Dusk Pack for all I care!” Sky growled making River and Blaze scared. “You left?” Raven asked. “Of course, I did, the fleabag is making pups 3+ months to fight.” Sky said with her eyes darting around. 3-month year old pups are just able to eat actual food, and they still have their puppy fur. “Pweese hewp us.” Blaze said with puppy eyes. “We don’t want to go back.” River said with tears. “Did you teach your pups to guilt trip?” Raven asked in surprise. “Well, of course, how else would I get us to stay here?” Sky asked. Raven sighed. “Fine, you can stay, but you’ll have to stay here before a new den is made for you, and you have to stay out of the way of the training.” Raven said looking at Sky. “We wouln’t be prisoners, right?” Sky asked alarmed. “No, the bars will be open for you to come out.” Raven answered. Sky sighed in relief. As Raven left, she commanded some wolves to bring soft grass and moss for The pups and Sky. They nodded their heads and went to the storage house, Raven spotted them bring it out and into the prison, Sky directed them where to put the beds at. The pups immediately lay into the beds and slept. Raven went back home sulky.
Ch. 10: Midnight Horror
Raven was just awake; she was trying to sleep. Her ears perked up hearing a howl, the howl was bone chilling. The howl was unlike that of the earth. Raven went out the den and looked around. She looked around with her ears perked, she heard the howl again and saw Phantom. She looked like a mess with tarlike substance spilling out of her blackened eyes, her pupils were red, her fur was mangled, she had blood clotting, and right ear was gone, her amulet had been corrupted, the sight would give anyone a shiver down the bone. Phantom came over to Raven. “Wished you have accepted my offer now huh?” Phantom asked with a smirk. “No.” Raven snarled. “I doubt you think that.” Phantom smiled. “I would never join the likes of you!” Raven cried. “Keep telling yourself that, you have 3 nights till I come again, either join, or you know…die…you along with your pack!” Phantom snarled and disappeared in a puff of smoke. Raven looked bewildered as she looked where Phantom had disappeared. She was scared, she had defeated Phantom before, but how would she defeat her now? Raven quickly ran back to her den, she had 3 nights, for what? To die? To lead her pack to their death? What was she supposed to do? ‘I should accomplish my destiny, that’s what I should do.’ Raven thought as she looked down. She had arrived to her den, the water was still warm from the waterfall, even though everything around it was chilly. Raven looked at it with wonder. What was up with the waterfall? Why is it always warm? Raven shook her head and went into her den and laid down. She fell asleep in a few minutes.
Ch. 11: River's Talk with her Mom
Raven woke up and carefully went out of the den. Her paw pads had healed despite her midnight walk. She had not forgotten what Phantom had said. She went to a nearby tree and growled with rage, sending out her quills which punctured the tree. “Frustrated?” A voice asked, Raven turned around a spirit looked at her. “W-who are you?” Raven asked. “I am Wither, your mother.” The spirit answered. “Mom?” Raven asked squinting. “Yes, I am your mother.” The spirit answered. “Why did you stay away all my life?” Raven asked her eyes looking down. “I was killed by Phantom; surly you knew this.” Wither replied, her face suddenly going serious. Raven then remembered that Ori-Kai had told her that she had found Wither’s dead body a while ago. Raven’s face went stern. “I wish you were there, alive during all of what happened, and all of what will happen.” Raven said and looked down as she talked. Wither looked at Raven with a sober face. “I wished I was too.” Wither replied with a sigh. “How much did you think of us?” Raven asked. “A lot.” Wither answered. “Same, I wished for you every minute when I found out Everest wasn’t really my mom.” Raven said and looked down. Wither looked at her daughter, a wistful look came into her eyes. Raven looked soberly up at her mother. “Your worried about Phantom’s threat, aren’t you?” Wither asked looking softly at Raven. Raven nodded. “You are going to fight to the death, aren’t you?” Wither asked. Raven closed her eyes then nodded. Wither carefully rubbed her nose on Raven’s. “I’m proud of you, keep it up. I can’t wait to see your pups in spring. “Me too.” Raven said and smiled. Raven looked over to her den, she was in a rock flat with a lot of rocks. Sometimes there would be a snake, usually garter snakes, but sometimes Rattlesnakes whose bites are fatal, of course since it is snowy the snakes wouldn’t be out for a while. Raven looked back at Wither but was surprised to see she had disappeared. “Mom?” Raven asked low. There was no answer. Raven sighed and gloomy walked to her den. Her mom had raised her confidence of defeating Phantom. Mystery came into the den along with Dream. “Yes?” Raven asked. “We actually caught Phantom’s scent! Along…with yours…” Dream said and looked down at the floor. “Yes…. she came to see me in the night, she wants me to join her again, I have 3 nights until I have to decide.” Raven said and sighed. “Well, you aren’t deciding to join her, are you?” Mystery questioned. “I’m going to say ‘no,’ but I’ll need you guys to back me up, like in the prophecy.” Raven said and sat looking silently at the two. “Well of course! But we are two wolves short…” Mystery said and looked out the den as expecting Rose and Goldenheart to return. Raven looked at them and sighed. “We could ask Spirit?” Dream suggested. “We could, but that leaves us with one missing, or two if Spirit refuses.” Mystery said thoughtfully. Raven looked at the waterfall as they talked. “Spirit would probably agree.” Raven replied. “How can you be so sure?” Mystery challenged, but not unkindly. “Because a bit ago she said, ‘If there is anything I can do, please tell me.’ I guess I’ll take her up on her offer.” Raven said as she stared at Mystery. Mystery and Dream nodded their heads and went away. Raven sighed as she saw them leave, she had talked to her mother, she felt good…yet bad. Raven smelled Fisher pass the den to go hunt. Raven wished she could connect with her father as she had done to her mother, even though she was only a spirit. She guessed her father figure was more of Hill, or Frozen not Fisher. Timber came into the den and was relieved to see Raven. “I was scared when I woke up, and you weren’t there, I almost called a search party,” Timber said his voice calm but shuddering, “Where were you anyways?” “By the rocks.” Raven answered. “Those are like a death place, they are crawling with rattlers, and black widows and brown recluses.” Timber said with his eyes frightened. “It’s winter we wouln’t see one of those for a while, unless it’s in our own dens.” Raven replied rolling her eyes at her mate’s worry. Timber looked at Raven and turned around and curled up. Raven looked out the den as she saw the moon rising. ‘So marks the 1rst night.’ Raven thought. She curled up and fell asleep after a while.
Ch. 12: Midnight Attack
Raven awoke to the wind rushing and rain falling. Raven got up and shook some loose fur off her pelt. Raven looked at her reflection through the waterfall and saw how crooked her bow was. She laid down and put her right paw on her head and moved the bow to the center of her head. Raven perked up her ears hearing some bushes moving near the forest part of the territory. The rain had stopped, and the moon shone once more. Raven got back up and narrowed her eyes. She moved to the entrance/exit of the den and looked out carefully scanning the other. The watch was oddly quiet. Raven came out of the den and tried her best not to make much sound on the snow. Raven got close to an irregular shaped rock. Suddenly the rock shifted, it was a wolf! “Intruders!” Raven howled in a hurry. Pack wolves came out one at a time hearing this call, when they came out, they spotted Scar and his warriors. “I said I was gonna come back.” Scar growled. The quill stuck in his eye shone in the moonlight. Raven knew this wolf did not care whether she killed Ashby or not, he wanted revenge for his eye. “Attack!” Scar howled, and more wolves hopped out of the bushes. Raven did a tail signal then the territory was filled with fighting. Raven’s dream came back to her. She worriedly looked at her pack then looked intensely at Scar. Her eyes glew up. Her fur ruffled she felt the magic in her rise. Green lightning came out of her striking down some of the warriors from Willow Tree Pack. Scar looked at his fallen comrades and snarled. Scar struck Raven trying to bite her but got zapped instead. He fell on the ground stunned. “Get out of here you-” Raven started but then was shocked by a blow on the head.
Ch. 13: Captured
Raven woke up with a pain in the head, she was in a dark pitch-black room. She cried. “How could Ashby die?” Raven whispered. She sat down and remembered her puphood, how Ashby was one of the only ones who actually were nice to her. “Raven?” Mystery’s voice asked. Raven used her powers to brighten the room with green light. “Yes?” Raven asked. “Phew, I thought I was alone here.” Mystery said. “Guys?” Realm’s weak voice asked behind them. They turned around. Realm was splayed out on the ground, blood clotted near her throat, it just nearly missed the trachea, but made it hard for her to breath. “Oh, my dawn pack.” Mystery gasped. Raven’s eyes filled with tears. She bounded over to Realm and sat down trying to find something in the forsaken cave. “Fluff!” Raven growled. “I don’t see a think that will help!” Mystery snarled. “The drip leaves.” Realm gasped. Raven looked up to see some leaves and some orange berries, with brown vein-like projections, that glew dimly. She took them down. Realm felt them. “Yes, they will help, chew up the berries, do not swallow any of the juice, or skin. Spit out the skin, then put the juice in the wound. After you do that try to find some cobwebs or cotton, that wouln’t get stuck in the wound that is, that will soak the blood, then put the drip leaves on it, it will stick.” Realm said weakly. Raven took one of the berries and chewed in, she spat the skin on the ground and put the juice in Realm’s wound, Realm made a painful noise, making Raven stop. “No don’t stop.” Raven said in pain. Raven continued. Mystery came over with some cobwebs which they put on the wound; it turned red almost immediately. Raven put some drip leaves on the wound and turned to Mystery. “Where are we?” Raven asked. “I don’t know I woke here, after I was nocked unconscious.” Mystery answered. “Same.” Raven replied and looked around. Raven spotted where the entrance was probably. There was a large boulder, that was extremely heavy. Raven would have been able to do it, but her magic was weak, and she needed to rest to get it back, plus she was trying to light up the room. Mystery spotted a bad wound on the back or Raven’s head. She dressed it carefully, while telling Raven what she was doing. Raven sighed as she grew tired. Soon it was overwhelming, she fell asleep.
Ch. 14: The Cave
Raven woke up, it was dark again, and she felt rested. Raven got up and lit up the cave again, Mystery woke up from the light, but Realm stayed asleep. Raven looked around trying to figure out a way to escape the cave. As she looked farther, she realized the cave was far mor complex and large. Near the back there was a narrow passage, that the wolves who imprisoned them probably overlooked. Raven headed to the narrow passage. Measuring it she calculated that Mystery would just fit through, despite her muscular build. Raven heard rocks moving and hurried back over where Mystery and Realm was and stopped using her powers. They looked where the giant boulder was, it was slowly moving away letting sunlight get in. A male wolf jumped in, Raven recognized him, he was Hemlock, he was a month older than her. She blushed lightly remembering him, then shook her head, what was she thinking she had a mate! “Hemlock?” Raven asked tilting her head. “Raven, and the others, welcome to your prison, I am you’re guard and will give you food, only once or twice a day, here is your food for the day.” Hemlock said and looked tired. A wolf came in dragging a half-eaten elk carcass, they probably didn’t eat it or hunt it. Raven darted over and dragged it towards Realm. Realm woke up smelling the food and ate some of it. Raven and Mystery also ate some. Hemlock and the other wolf left the cave. “I found a passage, you can just fit, and I smelled fresh air over there, meaning there is an exit somewhere.” Raven whispered. “Do you think it connects to the same passages to Unlit’s order?” Mystery asked. Raven nodded in excitement. Realm weakly got up and smiled at the thought of leaving. Raven looked at Realm, Realm was only 10 months and went through so much. Mystery looked carefully at Realm. “We’d have to wait until Realm’s wound heals better, it is making her weak, and she can’t walk.” Raven said sadly. “I agree.” Mystery replied and looked sadly at Realm, she hoped the young iota would heal, and fast. This cave business made them on edge, they wondered how long the pack was planning on holding them inside the cave, until they decide to either kill them or let them free, but will their pack be all right? Raven hoped so. She nibbled the carcass again followed by Mystery then Realm. They tried to save the carcass so they wouldn’t starve that day. Realm fell asleep exhausted. Raven grew impatient, Realm’s amulet was starting to blacken, it was the wound weakening her. “Mystery, we need the theta now!” Raven exclaimed as Realm went into shock. Mystery’s eyes widened and she ran to the giant boulder. “Help! We need the theta, Now!” Mystery cried. The boulder moved, Hemlock looked inside and saw Realm in convulsions and sent his helper to go get Buttercup and Juniper. When Buttercup and Juniper arrived, the convulsions were so bad that it looked like Realm would fly into the ceiling of the den. Buttercup franticly used the herbs and leaves to help her. Juniper kept getting orders of going out to get more herbs, and food for Realm. Realm’s spasms halted, but the corruption of her yellow and green amulet had quickened through the spasms. “We need to change that amulet now Juniper, go get one of the green and yellow amulets in storage.” Buttercup ordered. Juniper nodded and mor franticly went out of the cave. “She will get it in time.” Buttercup kept repeating to them. Juniper came back to the cave with 3 of the amulets. “So, if they corrupt while we aren’t here, they can replace it.” Juniper explained. “Good thinking.” Buttercup said gently. “How do you replace an amulet?” Raven asked. “You have to keep the replacement near Realm and take the old one quickly off then put on the new one.” Buttercup explained. The replacement amulet dangled out of Raven’s mouth as she picked it up by the string. Mystery snapped the string with her teeth, and the amulet thumped on the ground. In an instant later Raven replaced the amulet with the one she held. Buttercup sighed in relief. “Congratulations you successfully changed an amulet.” Buttercup said with a smile. Juniper sighed in relief when she heard her mentor’s calming voice. Realm was soon fast asleep, and no convulsions or shock came back. Buttercup and Juniper left the den. The boulder was put back into place right after. Raven and Mystery sat next to Realm and curled up and fell asleep.
Ch. 15: The Passage
Raven woke up and lit up the room. “Oh! Fluff!” Raven exclaimed. “What?” Mystery asked. Raven looked at Mystery and her face scrunched up. “Phantom…...she visited me…tomorrow is the night she would visit me again and ask me what I chose to do.” Raven answered awkwardly. “Then we should go, now!” Mystery exclaimed. Raven nodded. Raven picked Realm up by making her slide onto her back. Mystery picked up Realm’s extra amulets and accidentally stepped on her old one making in shatter. One of the shards stuck into her pads. Mystery yelped but told herself to wait until she could take it out at home. Raven led Mystery to the passage with her light, which she had dimmed. They went into the passage. Some of the areas scratched Mystery’s broad shoulders raw. As they walked, they reached a small cavern where they rested. When they got back up, they continued to go forward relying on the scent of their territory. Raven soon smelled some mice and realized she was very hungry. Raven dropped Realm lightly on some cave moss and went hunting, she caught three mice. Raven gave one to Mystery, ate one of them and woke Realm up and gave the last one to her. Realm fell asleep again, so Raven picked her up like last time and went forward. They had to go right at one point and then left. Soon there was an entryway to the outside. When they went out Raven Exclaimed, “Hugh!”
Ch. 16: Broken Home
“What happened here?” Mystery asked. Raven looked around at her territory, it was absolutely deserted no one was around. Some branches and leaves were littered all over the place. “I don’t know.” Raven finally answered, her voice cracking. It was still night, but the sun was rising a little bit. When they went to the waterfall it looked fine, but lonely. Raven looked around a lot of the dens were smashed, she spotted dead comrades, only 3 thankfully. Willow Tree Pack hadn’t picked up their deceased yet. Raven sobbed at the look of her pack. “Had she ailed them all? If she looked over the clearing towards the mountains, would she see what she saw in her awful dream? She went over there reluctantly but sighed with relief when she saw no one dead in the clearing. Mystery looked everywhere and found no one dead but the 3 members of the pack that they saw while entering, and the Willow Tree Pack wolves who had been killed by Raven and some by other members of the pack. Raven sighed at the sight of the destruction, she was awfully hurt by how broken it looked, this would take months to rebuild! Mystery slightly yelped as she remembered she had stepped on a broken piece of Realm’s old amulet. When she lifted her paw in horror, she noticed the shard was all black, and some of her paw had blackened. Raven gasped in horror again and quickly took out the shard and didn’t tell Raven about it. Raven quietly went into her den and set Realm softly on her bed. Raven curled up around her and slept. Mystery soon joined in and fell asleep despite the thumping of her wound from the amulet shard.
Ch. 17: The Pack is Safe?
Raven woke up and saw that Mystery was already awake and Realm was still asleep. Raven lightly woke up Realm. Realm woke up and looked around strangely. “Where are we?” Realm asked. “We are at my den.” Raven answered gently. “What? When did we get here? “Realm asked her eyes widen. “Last week.” Mystery answered with a mischievous glint in her eyes. Raven wacked her with her tail. “Quit it, Mystery.” Raven said rolling her eyes. “Fine.” Mystery said rolling her eyes. “Actually, we arrived last night.” Raven said with a smile. Realm looked relieved as Raven glared at Mystery. Mystery suddenly laid down and started to lick the pad of her right paw. Realm recognized the pain in her eyes. “What’s wrong?” Realm asked worried. “Oh, nothing.” Mystery answered, then she coughed. “Something is wrong with you.” Realm pressed. “Allergies.” Mystery replied and quickly went out of the den careful not to limp. “Did you see that?” Realm asked. Raven nodded her head and tilted her head to the side. She then remembered how tonight was the night she would need to face Phantom. “Uh, Raven, Realm?” Mystery said out the den. “Yeah?” Raven asked. “There is someone to see us.” Mystery answered. Raven went out of the den and spotted Irina. “Irina?” Raven asked. “Yes, that is me.” Irina answered in her Russian accent. “Why are you here?” Raven asked. “Because I was sent to see if you had returned, since we are housing your pack right now, they are in the cave.” Irina answered. “So, they are safe?” Raven asked. “Yes, but some are heavy wounded.” Irina answered. “Ok, will we follow you then?” Raven asked. Irina answered and led them to a passage and led them into the hunting cavern then into the living cavern. There was much commotion inside and it had two different pack scents, technically. “Wait we left Realm!” Raven exclaimed and fell on the ground. “Way ahead of you.” A female voice said behind them. Raven recognized the voice it was Aamaya the mother of Blackie, Crow, Talon, Adaj and Aabinus. “Aamaya?” Raven asked as she turned. When she turned, she saw Aamaya holding Realm in her mouth, she gently placed her on the ground. Blackie, Crow, Talon, Adaj, and Aabinus came over. “Hello pups!” Raven exclaimed. “Raven!” Blackie exclaimed and looked over to her sister and brothers. “Raven’s back?” Crow asked. “What’s wrong?” Raven asked Blackie. “Crow went blind, from an illness.” Blackie answered in a whisper. When Raven closely looked at Crow, she saw that his pupils were clouded, and his brown eyes lighter than last time she saw them. Adaj looked protectively at Crow, although she was the smallest of all of them. All the pups were black furred, except Adaj’s left white paw. Raven looked around and spotted some of her pack finally, and they looked happy to see her, all except Cardinal who looked sad to see her. Fawn was also there even though she felt bad since she was still wounded. Sky and her pups were in the nursery. Raven was glad to see that they were all right. Raven was glad when she saw Timber, she licked his ear and sighed, she was glad they were all together again, even though they had lost 3 packmates, and possibly will lose some.
Ch. 18: Confrontation with Phantom
Raven woke up in the night and collected her friends including Spirit, Mystery, Realm who felt better, Dream who was in good shape, and Unlit had also agreed to go. Raven led them to her den and went in until midnight. “Ok wait until you see the signal.” Raven whispered and ran towards the eerie howl. Raven spotted Phantom. “So, what did you decide?” Phantom asked with an evil smile. “I decided, I will not join you!” Raven snarled. “Preposterous!” Phantom snarled. “You are nothing but a tyrant who chases your own tail!” Raven snarled. “Oh yeah? Well, your nothing but an absent-minded cockroach!” Phantom growled back; Raven stared at her blankly. “What?” Raven asked absently. “I do not know.” Phantom laughed. Raven moved her tail up to “Challenge” Phantom, but really it was a sign for the others. Back at the den Mystery came in to talk to them, “The signals up it’s time to go.” Mystery told them, and they ran out to join Raven. “You took others with you?” Phantom snarled angerly. Raven stared at her with a silent ‘Seriously.’ “And you didn’t?” Raven asked. “I lost all my followers after I ‘died.’” Phantom said, rolling her eyes. “And didn’t I tell you specifically not to bring anyone with you?” Phantom asked. “No, you did not actually.” Raven said rolling her eyes. “Wait I didn’t? Remind me to do it next time.” Phantom said. “There wouln’t be a next time!” Raven growled. “Oh right, you’ll be too busy being dead!” Phantom growled. “Yeah right.” Mystery said rolling her eyes. “I will kill all of you!” Phantom snarled. “Not if we kill you first, mother.” Unlit growled. Spirit nodded her head in agreement. Phantom’s eyes darted from each of her daughters. Her eyes went uncorrupted for a second and showed fear, love, and guilt. Spirit gasped and looked away at Unlit. They were both surprised, they thought their mother was incapable of feelings except for hate, and destruction. Phantom snapped back to what she was before. “I’m not your mother anymore.” Phantom growled with a mangled voice. A tear went down her face though. Raven bolted forward and pounced on her; Phantom instead teleported away making Raven fall flat on her face. Phantom was suddenly behind her and was about to strike when Spirit pulled her away with her tail. Phantom turned around and viciously, but Spirit’s leg broke in an instant. Spirit howled in pain. Mystery looked over and was haunted by the memory of the elk breaking her leg. Unlit came over and pounced on her mother making her let go of Spirit. Realm carefully took Spirit away and treated the bad brake, it was definitely a Compound Fracture. Spirit heaved with pain as she got it put back into place. “Mom you’re a savage!” Unlit snarled at Phantom. “I don’t care!” Phantom snarled back and bit into Unlit’s neck and flung her off into a tree. When Unlit hit the tree, her breath was knocked out of her. Raven and Mystery pounced onto Phantom, but she teleported again. Raven and Mystery looked around. They realized that she was invisible. Raven felt a paw hit her nose causing it to bleed, which reminded her of the time Sherlock hurt her nose when she earned her name. Raven snarled; she had snapped. She sent out her quills all around her with great force, they punctured trees, just missing her friends, and just hit Phantom’s tail it went through, causing it to bleed. Phantom getting hurt caused her to become visible again. Raven pounced on Phantom, but Phantom pulled her off her. Mystery came over and slashed Phantom’s snout. Phantom slashed Mystery’s chest. Unlit finally regained consciousness. Unlit spotted a branch and heard a voice say, “Use it to kill her!” Unlit looked around she didn’t see anyone who was talking to her. Unlit grabbed the sharp branch and used it to puncture Phantom’s heart. Phantom died almost immediately after that. (Which was a total Opal move) Raven and Mystery looked surprised at Phantom’s limp body. They pushed it farther to make sure Phantom never came back. Unlit took Phantom’s corrupted amulet and dropped it down a cliff making it shatter. Suddenly Mystery groaned in pain, her right leg was all black, and it was spreading. “Help me!” Mystery exclaimed.
Ch. 19: Saving Mystery
Raven looked at Mystery with fear in her eyes, while they were fighting Phantom, Mystery’s amulet had been half corrupted. Realm finished Spirit up and went to Mystery, the blackness was up her neck, it even was on her eye a little bit. “What happened!?” Raven asked. “I-I stepped on a piece of Realm’s corrupted amulet, it stabbed my paw pad and started to corrupt it, I took it out, but it’s still spreading!” Mystery exclaimed in pain. “You idiot! Why didn’t you tell us!” Unlit snarled. “Stepping on those things can get you pretty messed up, to some it’s fatal. We need a replacement amulet, and a special herb.” Realm said calmly. Raven wondered how Realm kept her voice so calm. Spirit looked at them with her eyes tired and her scared. Realm ran to the theta den and came out with a purple amulet and a weird magenta colored herb. Realm went over to Mystery and put petals around her. Realm laid Mystery in the middle of the petals. Realm coaxed the others to sides of the circle. Realm started chanting something in an ancient language, only thetas and iotas are taught, some medics as well. Realm moved her tail to signal the others to join in, they look at each other and try. “Ori kori. Rah kah. Ori taki de co rut isu ete. Ori maki ete fele berre, ade nevre gir co eree agi.” Realm said and coaxed them to repeat it, they oddly completed it without miss saying any words. They repeated it more then ones, their eyes turn white, their amulets grow brightly. Mystery arises, out of her paw came some black specks that fly into the sky and dissolve. The corruptness of Mystery’s amulet dissolved away. The black in Mystery’s fur turns lighter but still lays dark against her fur, the skin under it was still black and some of her eyes were still blackened and her iris was a dark blue and her pupil was dark red. Mystery falls on the ground, her shoulders where still raw from walking in the passage, and where the shard went in had not healed yet, and still hurt. Raven, delighted, ran to Mystery, and hugged her with tears. Mystery hugs her friend back with a smile, soon there is a group hug. A Willow Tree Pack Wolf saw all these events and went to tell his pack, the news spread to the other pack like a wildfire, the gathering that month was where this was told. (Waterfall Pack doesn’t join these often)
Epilogue
Rose and Goldenheart were walking along a winding path of grass. The mountains were high, and the valleys low. Rose flops onto the ground, the sun was high in the sky, and they were trying to get home. Goldenheart picked Rose up carefully and they continued moving forward. They had finished their mission and were ready to get home, no matter what happened they would get there they just had too. Rose felt that Raven was in trouble. Spring was coming, and trouble along with it. “Do you think she’ll have her pups by the time we get there?” Goldenheart asked. “Probably, since we will arrive sometime in the spring.” Rose replied and yawned. “We’ve not had much sleep the past almost 4 almost 6 months.” Goldenheart said and tried to get Rose to rest. “No! I want to get home as soon as possible! We must warn her!” Rose exclaimed. “She’s not the only one, we have to warn the cave and Mystery and Realm.” Goldenheart said and sighed, this was going to be a long 2 months, they were going to arrive in April when Raven and Timber are planning on having their puppies. They may arrive later, maybe even May or June, possibly even July! They quickened their pace as they travelled in the mountains, they would go through the cavern system, but they’d heard of savage wolves, and odd raccoon-like animals, that were dangerous. Rose spotted an elk. “Quick hunt?” Rose asked. Goldenheart sometimes didn’t get Rose sometimes. She doesn’t wanna rest she wants to stay on her paws and work, she wants to do something. “Come on!” Rose yelled, she was already halfway to the elk, they started calling it a lost mountain elk, since it was the breed you wouldn’t find in the mountains, at least not these mountains. Goldenheart ran faster after Rose, but he didn’t catch up until he reached the elk. The elk was already injured and confused. They sort of felt bad for it. Rose lunged at it first full of energy. Goldenheart never understood how she had so much energy all the time. He stood panting there waiting for feeling in his cracked paws. Soon he got his hunt on and lunged for the throat where they took it down. “Show off.” Rose said and rolled her eyes and munched on the prey. “You know you love me dear.” Goldenheart said charmingly. Rose blushed. “Not bad flirting…. for a wolf.” Rose said and winked. “Not bad hunting…. for a fox.” Goldenheart smiled. “Oh, for dog’s sake!” Rose exclaimed. Goldenheart, but then frowned after he realized it wasn’t him. “What?” Goldenheart asked. “They were hunting that elk…. what do you think they’ll do to us if they find out strangers, complete strangers came back into their territory and killed their food and ate some, they were hunting it!” Rose exclaimed. “Of all the things Dawn Pack sends us! They send us a ‘friendly’ batch of wolves!” Goldenheart exclaimed frustrated. He had a pure heart but he had feelings, especially since he has been away from home for a while.
THE END
For this book, don't forget to read Ch. 1 of the next book.
Ch. 1: Naming Ceremony
Raven was woken up by her two pups, since they are Alpha pups, they get their real names when they reach 2 months. “I wonder what my name will be!” Rivet the female exclaimed. “I bet you’ll keep your name.” Ribbit answered with a laugh, he was her brother, older than her by a minute. “Ribbit don’t mess with your sister.” Timber said softly. “Yeah, stop it!” Rivet exclaimed. Ribbit stuck his tongue out at his sister. Rivet rolled her eyes and slapped her mother with her tail, because Raven had fallen asleep again. “I’m up! I’m up!” Raven exclaimed. She got up and led her pups out of the den with Timber walking behind them. A fallen tree with a thick trunk. Raven hopped onto a rock and then up on the fallen tree. Rivet and Ribbit followed. They stood next to yearlings who were getting their names since they were turning 1 that day, or week. Rivet and Ribbit went at the end of the line. “Lit sit down.” Winter-rose whispered to one of her pups. Lit her daughter sat down with a sigh. Raven looked at the yearling, she had light brown fur with darker fur on her back, down her tail, and on her head and ears. “Your name is Xiamara, which means deer, since you look fawn.” Raven said and nodded. Xiamara smiled and licked Raven’s shoulder and jumped off the fallen tree and got congratulated by everyone. She sat down a little embarrassed. Raven went to the next one which was Xiamara’s brother. “Hoot, what did you see last night?” Raven asked. “I saw a praying mantis; it was just going into its home when I saw it although.” He answered. “Then you’ll be Mantis!” Raven exclaimed. Mantis was a brown wolf with a lone white spot on his chest. Mantis licked Raven’s chest respectively and went off the fallen tree and went next to Xiamara. The next wolf Raven went to the next who was a female, she had cream fur with brown on her tail, on her front left paw, her right ear, and on her snout, she also had a brown nose and light brown eyes. “Kip, what did you dream of last night?” Raven asked. “I dreamed of a sweet Melody washing over me and soothing me.” Kip answered. “Then you are melody.” Raven said with a smile. Melody licked Raven’s chest respectfully and jumped on the fallen tree and sat by her friend Xiamara. Raven went to the next one. He had black fur with white paws. “Pit, what did you hear yesterday?" Raven asked. “I heard crickets chirping.” Pit answered. “Would you rather be named Chirp? Or Cricket?” Raven whispered. “You pick.” Pit answered. Raven shrugged. “You are Chirp.” Raven replied. Chirp licked Raven’s shoulder then jumped off the fallen tree and sat down. “Oda you are next.” Raven said to a nervous looking gold and cream Fox-wolf hybrid. She looked at Raven with worry in her eyes. “Oda, to fit your fur color you will be named Goldenflower, since you are one flower in a million.” Raven said with a smile. “Thank you.” Goldenflower whispered and licked Raven’s chest then jumped down the fallen tree and sat by her mom, who congratulated her with a proud face. “Ribbit, by son you are next.” Raven said looking at Ribbit. Ribbit and Rivet were very excited. “You will be Aodhan, which means ‘little fire’ since you are my little fire, very energetic.” Raven said looking at her son with love. Aodhan followed the yearlings’ example and licked Raven on her chest then jumped off the fallen tree, falling flat on his face. He got up and shook himself and sat by his father. Rivet looked at her mother with so much joy, her brother got a good name, she hoped she would as well. “You’ll be Afton, which means River.” Raven said with a bright smile. Afton smiled she was proud of her new name. Aodhan just rolled his eyes next to his father. Afton went to her mom and licked her chest then carefully climbed down the fallen tree. Raven suddenly smelled a familiar scent, it was Juniper, the Iota of Willow Tree Pack.
