Introduction

*DISCLAIMER*

**PATTERN BASED GUIDE - ONLY EXISTING PATTERNS**

This guide is entirely OUR OPINION and was written by us. We created the way in which we classify Glaciers, how we rank them, and any terminologies. Me and my collaborators are proud owners of some Glaciers on this list and we can confidently backup their given tiers.

At the end of the day, Glaciers are ultimately a matter of personal preference. Everyone has their own opinions and preferences. Therefore, this guide should be acknowledged with objectivity and a grain of salt.

Please note that all if not most of the in-game screenshots in this guide have been post-processed by increasing the saturation/vibrance to accentuate the visibility of the Glacial blue regions.

Why I created this guide:
There are multiple reasons as to why this guide was created.
  1. Mainly, we hope to shed more light onto Black Pearl knives in general. The Black Pearl finish is easily our favorite and we hope more and more people can appreciate the beauty of these knives.

  2. There is no definitive list that distinguishes the best "Glacier" patterns. This frequently results in sellers stating that their Black Pearl is a Glacier pattern and/or that they have the best pattern. This can make it tough to determine what you are buying without a reliable tier list.

  3. Through this guide, we hope that it is made clear how to actually differentiate a Glacier from a Black Pearl Knife so there will be less confusion on these patterns.

Feedback/Concerns

Please leave your remarks in the comment section below if there are missing patterns, concerns, or feedback about the guide. I will do my best to respond to every comment. However, if comments get out of hand, they will be disabled, and you will be required to add me personally.

Updates
27/5/2023 - Flip Knife (P588) added as the new no.3 Flip Knife Glacier pattern | Ursus Knife (P994) added as the new no.4 Ursus Knife Glacier pattern | M9 Bayonet (P467) removed from the guide's tierlist

11/7/2023 - Minor changes to the guide's overall tierlist | Karambit (P600) added as a new pattern

Glacier Pattern Explained
The characteristics of the Glacier pattern are their unique arctic blue coloring (We call this color "Glacial Blue"). A Glacier BP should contain as much of this "Glacial Blue" as possible WITH as little to no other colors on the blade. The more "Glacial Blue" on the knife's playside, the higher the rank/tier. Inspecting the knife in shadowy regions is the best way to tell how much blue is present as they "glow" in the dark. To make it more obvious, you can also take a screenshot of the knife under normal sunlight and turn the color saturation/vibrance all the way up. Though, this method is not necessary as the blue is very much visible under normal settings.

Here is a comparison between a Glacier M9, a colorful Black Pearl M9 and a clean Black Pearl M9. The "Glacier Blue" is circled on the knives so there is a clear indication of what you're actually looking for in a Glacier BP.

Nothing circled here as there's no Glacial blue

Tier List
Rankings on this list will be a lot more strict and harsh. The list is more unforgiving on knives that contain other colors (green and purple). Therefore, some really nice pieces such as the M9 (923) and Ursus (366) will not make this list. The judging criteria on some knives may slightly differ from the rest, so please pay some mind to every individual section. Also, please do inspect these knives in-game as they may deviate slightly from the images shown.

Gut Knife
These patterns are ordered from BEST (top) to WORST (bottom).

After going through the entirety of floatdb, there are no Gut Knife Glaciers that lack exposed green. This is because of the Gut Knife's unusually wide blade which makes it extremely unlikely for it to exhibit Glacial blue and only Glacial blue. There are gut knives that are really clean (no other colors), but only expose a tiny bit of Glacial blue. However, these knives will not make the list as they can't really be called Glaciers.

These patterns are ordered from BEST (top) to WORST (bottom).

Although the handle of the knife also exhibits the black pearl finish, we will neglect the handle as you will not be able to see it most of the time while using it in-game. You can only see the handle while you're in rare inspect.

Butterfly Knife
*DISCLAIMER*

For both the Butterfly Knife and the Shadow Daggers, we do not acknowledge any Glacier patterns due to the strange(bugged?) doppler texture filtering on specifically the black pearl finish. It can be seen that the primary color of these two knives are rather red-shifted/crimson when compared to other black pearl knives. However, in this guide we will still cover bluer than average patterns (with as little to no other colors possible) as the Glacial blue portions of the underlying texture are still prominent.

The creator of this article, micλael, queues with cheaters to get boosted. He's dogshit at game and relies on cheaters to boost him

I think you guys should take a look at the pattern 809 for talon BP. It has the blue on the handle ring and along the knife as well

Was looking through some of the #1 patterns on floatdb and it seems like some of the creators of this guide own some of the #1 patterns. Obviously, if you're interested in owning glacier black pearls, you would also be interested in making a guide about them, but kinda sussy. I wonder how much owning a certain pattern sways the decision making in choosing the highest-tier patterns.
