The Bug:

Some players experience a bug when a number of their ancient magic bars are emptied every time they start a new session of the game, even if all the bars were full at the end of their previous session:

* Possibly it could happen when the player gets all 5 ancient magic bars too early in the game by going to all ancient magic hotspots. During my 2nd play-through it started to happen even after I got my 1st additional ancient magic bar (3rd one in total), so I don't really know what triggers the bug.

UPDATE:
It seems the developers patched this bug, but if it will ever happen to you, you'll know what to do.

The Workaround:

When you launch the game, it doesn't matter whether you just continue from the last save by clicking on your character on the top left, or choose to load any save from the list by pressing 'F', you will always have some ancient magic bars empty at the start of the new session. And the type of the save you start your session with (auto or manual) doesn't play any role at all.

The solution is very simple:

1. Immediately after you've been loaded into a new game session with some ancient magic bars empty, go to the settings main screen (Hit Esc and click on "Settings", or just press "P") and choose "LOAD GAME":

2. Load your last save from your previous session:

Now all your ancient magic bars are full again:

Possible issues:

For those seconds that you spent in the game after loading into a new session, the game may have time to create a NEW AUTOSAVE, which will now be at the top of the list - you SHOULD NOT load it!
You can always recognize newly created autosave by its timestamp:

To be sure you know exactly what's the timestamp of the last save from your previous session (1:03 PM in my example), when you start a new session, it's better not just to continue the game by clicking on your character on the top left, but to press 'F' (or whatever you have on your controller) to load the game from your saves list:

This way you can memorize the timestamp of the last save from your previous session, which will prevent confusing it with a possible newly created autosave.

Another useful tip - to avoid confusion that can cause you to load a newly created autosave, create a manual save at the end of every session (as in my example). This way you will always have a manual save on top of the list when you start a new session (you can overwrite it later).

Last word

I hope it helps someone.
If it does, please, don't forget to click the thumbs up to keep this guide on the first page, so it will be easier to find for other players. Thanks!

You're welcome, I'm glad it helped.

Thanks. I loaded the last autosave from the main menu, then I loaded my manual save (the most recent save) and now I have full ancient magic bars.
