Ch. 1: Rescued
Nyome looked above the waves that were trying to push her down, she saw her family going away knowing they can’t do anything, she saw Opal trying to spot her then a big wave pulled her under causing her to hit her head hard on a sharp rock causing a concussion and to nock her unconscious.
A wolf was walking on the border of the river and spotted a brown and white wolf pup floating in the water, her head had a deep cut. He looked around no one had been around recently. He jumped in and scooped the pup up and got out of the water and went home, he lived in Junction Pack. He looked out at the river tracing where its source was, he gasped, this pup was a part of Sky Pack. He crawled into his den and dropped the pup slowly on the ground, water fell out of her fur and some of the blood spilled on the ground. His mate came in and gasped at the sight of the female pup her mate had brought in.
The pup regained consciousness after 2 days. The pup sat up and looked around, she forgot many things, but she remembered some. “What is your name?” The old wolf who rescued her asked. “I am Nyome.” The pup said, she was confused, she remembered she was with her family…. what did they look like? What were their names? “Remember anything?” He asked her. “I remember I was traveling with my family….their names I have forgotten……what they even looked like is out of my mind…..We were crossing the river…..and….I….fell in, I think someone tried to save me with a stick, cause I have a foul stick taste in my mouth, also I remember I was being trained by a Theta.” Nyome said trying to remember things. The wolf nodded. “That seems enough.” He said smiling. “What are your names?” Nyome asked. “I am Artus, and my mate is Nella, we are part of Junction Pack.” He said with a faint smile. “Who is the pup?” Nyome asked her eyes seeing another pup, who was male. “He is Astrophel, he will not be here long, the Death Pack has their mark on him.” He said his smile fading. Nyome looked at Astrophel and smiled, she promised herself to be his best friend until he is taken
Ch. 2: Nightmare
Nyome was twisting and turning she was having a nightmare. She woke up and looked around for a minute she remembered everything then she lost it again, she remembered where she was though. Astrophel got up and went over to Nyome. “My dad said I shouldn’t talk to you, lest I should make a bond, but I have to since you are up.” He said. This was the first time he had ever spoken to Nyome, and she now knew why. “I’m glad.” Was all Nyome could say. “What was wrong though?” Astrophel asked. “Nightmare.” Nyome answered laying down. Astrophel laid down next to Nyome. “I hate nightmares, Ya’know there is something that roams the forest at night, they call him ‘Nightmare’ people say he is made by pure darkness and pure nightmares, I however think he must be mistaken, maybe a nice animal, but I don’t know, people say he steals pups out of bed and eats ‘em, but I think he takes ‘em in and treats ‘em like his own pup.” Astrophel said. Nyome shivered, she hoped this “Nightmare” wasn’t what other wolves thought. Nyome looked at Astrophel. ‘It’s sad to think he’ll be taken; he has such a personality.’ Nyome thought and fell asleep. Astrophel fell asleep near her staring at the entrance.
Nyome was standing in a clearing, another nightmare the same as before. Several wolves, with no faces went around her. “Why have you forgotten us?” One asked low. Another was going around her. “Why have you forgotten our names?” Another asked. “What we look like?” Another had asked, all of them transformed into a huge black and red creature, Nyome thought it must be “Nightmare” but he wasn’t she looked at his chest the chest had a skull with horns, he was a demon. “Who are you?” Nyome demanded bravely. “I am Tazar maker of the curse over Slough Creek, remember, that I am in charge, and your friend will be gone soon!” The demon boomed; he was referring to Astrophel. Tazar disappeared, and Nyome woke up, it was still dark out. Astrophel was gone! Nyome traced his scent out, and next to a rock, were she saw him scared, a giant figure looking bloodthirsty was bent over him. “Watch out!” Astrophel exclaimed. Nyome jumped out of the way as another tried to pounce at her. Nyome slipped to Astrophel’s side. “Who are they?” Nyome asked. “They are Shadow Wolves, they work for ‘Nightmare,’ and they are banned Death Pack Wolves, meaning they can hurt me.” Astrophel said and gulped. Nyome looked around she remembered a little lesson from one of her siblings, it was to use her surroundings in a fight. Nyome looked around and knew what to do. Nyome jumped onto the rock that was behind her and backflipped onto one of the Shadow Wolves. “Show off.” Astrophel muttered under his breath. Nyome ripped into the Shadow wolf’s fur, revealing blood not red, on blue, it was an orange color with a white hue. Nyome looked around; another lesson hit her head. She grabbed a sharp branch and drove it into the Shadow Wolf, making it disapparate, she did the same to the other Shadow wolf, and it also disapparated. Nyome looked around and headed back to Astrophel. “Watch out!” Astrophel warned, making Nyome turn her head, a pitch-black wolf with dark blue eyes. “You have killed my Shadow Wolves, but you were a pup, who killed 2 shadow wolves, not even a grown wolf can kill just 1!” He exclaimed. “I’m guessing your Nightmare?” Nyome presumed; he didn’t look like all Nightmares put into one wolf. “Yes, actually I am.” The wolf growled impatiently. “Now if you excuse us, we must hurry home.” Nyome said motioning Astrophel to her. “You’re not going anywhere.” Nightmare said and smiled wickedly. 2 other Shadow Wolves appeared on either side of Nightmare. “The sun should be up soon.” Astrophel whispered to Nyome. Nyome nodded. ‘We must stall them.’ Nyome thought. Nightmare looked at the to pups and then the sky, he saw the sun slightly. “Attack.” Nightmare said to his Shadow Wolves. The Shadow wolves jumped, there was a fight, Nyome and Astrophel killed the Shadow Wolves with stabbing large branches into their bodies. The sun soon rose, and Nightmare disappeared. Nyome and Astrophel promised to stay inside at night from now on. “Oh, my gosh! Artus, where is our son! Where is Nyome!” They heard Nella say in a scared tone. Nyome and Astrophel looked at each other and grimaced. They had some small cuts, they knew they were going to get into trouble, but they then laughed. They hurried into the den, Nyome had some herbs in her mouth and dropped them inside. “Sorry we went out to get herbs. We were scratched slightly from briars and sticks.” Nyome said, she was particularly lying. Nella and Artus looked completely relieved. “Well, at least you gathered herbs, WOW! I never thought of using this as a medical thing!” Nella said looking at a berry. “It helps kill bacteria and Pathogens.” Nyome said remembering what she was told, but not who she was told to. Nyome sighed, she felt like her family will never be revealed
Ch. 3: Adventure through the Tunnel
Nyome woke up, yesterday caused so much excitement to Nyome and Astrophel. Nyome looked around at the small family that were raising her. All of them knew Astrophel will be taken any day now. Nyome heavily sat down sighing. Astrophel bounded over and smiled. “Mummy will let me take you to the tunnel!” He said excitedly. Nyome looked at his face and smiled. “What’s that?” Nyome asked with a smile. “It’s a long tunnel, (Looks around, starts to whisper) that can get pretty dangerous. Mum doesn’t know how dangerous it can get, I’ve found wolf skulls, and bones in there, I’ve seen things in that I’ve never seen out here. Don’t tell her that.” Astrophel said then whispered. Nyome nodded her head. Astrophel motioned Nyome to follow him. “Have fun!” Nella exclaimed with a smile. “We will!” Astrophel yelled and crawled out the den. Nyome followed him into a large tunnel, she followed him into it and blinked her eyes until she was used to the dark. They went farther, there was water, and some rats scurried on the dry path that the pups were walking on. “This area is were it starts to be dangerous,” Astrophel whispered, “This area is what I call the ‘Quiet Zone’ it’s were you have to be very quiet and careful, lest animals that are sensitive to nose will surface from the water and attack, including Giant worms, with razor sharp teeth, and less dangerous ones with no teeth at all, there are also Acid Spitting fish, there are also Olms, who are blind salamanders, and large eels, some with and some without teeth. That’s all that is in the ‘Quiet Zone’ but there are more creatures.” Nyome looked around and tripped on a rock. The sound of her falling echoed throughout the tunnel. Astrophel flinched at the noise. “Shh.” He whispered when Nyome took a step to his side. There was a loud shriek, and a water splash sound, a giant worm appeared. It opened its toothless mouth and shrieked into Nyome and Astrophel’s faces. “Ok, RUN!” Astrophel yelled taking a right and bolting, Nyome bolted after him. The Worm followed in the water shrieking. “Wouldn’t it call others? Or warn them causing them to go after too?” Nyome asked scared when she caught up with Astrophel. “No, Toothless Worms are loners, it is warning other animals that we are it’s meal, and they aren’t to intervene.” Astrophel said. “And they listen? Aren’t they not very dangerous?” Nyome asked. “Less dangerous than the Toothed worm, yes, but only because they have no teeth, and are loners, but they are still dangerous, they have this stinger on their tail, that they use on larger prey, like eels, then they tear it up with the stinger so it can gulp smaller pieces, don’t worry we aren’t big enough.” Astrophel said. “Well, it will still eat us!” Nyome yelled in fear. “Why are we running……...Giant worms are blind…...Also their stomach isn’t made to digest pups or any wolves, its designed to eat trash, and eels, and some rats. They are too stupid to know that though, Toothless eels have the same problem, except they aren’t usually blind. Ok stop running and hide, I’d rather not live in a worm’s belly.” Astrophel said. He halted next to some crates and hid in one. Nyome hid in another crate. They heard the worm halt, its stinger scraped across the floor. The noise was unbearable. Suddenly the noise stopped, and a large splash was heard. Nyome was about to come out of the crate. “Shhh, it’s a trick.” Astrophel whispered; his voices was muffled since he was in another crate. Nyome quieted again. She looked up out of her crate, and saw slimy pink skin that covered it. She felt her crate moving, it collided with Astrophel’s crate, and made the to pups move in the crates. The worm heard this and tried to find the source of the noise. It unraveled the crates and started to dump out crates into its mouth. “Ok, get out carefully, and quietly.” Astrophel whispered. Nyome stood up, and jumped out very Quietly, Astrophel came out of his without much difficulty. They slowly walked away backwards; the Worm didn’t notice them. Soon they were out of hearing range, and stumbled on an area filled with Wolf skulls, and bones. “This is the ‘Bone Zone’ were most wolves die on there journey through the tunnel, Junction Wolves had to venture the tunnels and survive a whole day in order to become alphas, and some pups had to go in and go far for a few hours and survive to mark adulthood. This area is where we may start to see out of water creatures. We have left the ‘Quiet Zone.’ Worms, and certain eels fear this area.” Astrophel said. Nyome was glad they wouldn’t run into anymore worms. Astrophel led Nyome farther. He stopped and looked around. “Last I was in this place, I had found dangerous animals nesting here, looks like they were scared out, from another dangerous animal.” Astrophel said he refused to say what animal it was, or what animals lived in the “Bone Zone.” Astrophel looked around nervously. His nervousness made Nyome nervous. Nyome almost slipped on a large black and yellow snakeskin. “What is this?” Nyome asked kicking it. “That is a snakeskin.” Astrophel said grossed out. “Do you not like snakes?” Nyome asked. Astrophel shivered. “Their gross, and their skin is hard, their forked tongue is gross, their fangs are Bleck.” He said shivering out of grossness. Nyome giggled, she never would of expected Astrophel to be grossed out by something like snakes. Astrophel glared at Nyome. “It’s not funny.” He complained. “Actually, it is.” Nyome said laughing. “Shh.” Astrophel said looking around. “Why?” Nyome asked teasing. “I heard something.” Astrophel answered. Nyome looked around suddenly afraid. “What did you hear?” Nyome asked. “I heard a clatter over there.” Astrophel said. Nyome’s fear spiked, she remembered something, she had a huge fear of large animals, especially ones she can’t see. Nyome stood close to Astrophel as they walked quietly down the passage of the tunnel. Nyome heard something that clanged onto the ground and looked towards where the sound was heard. She saw a pan twirling around, but there was no sight of what made it move. She got scared, even if it was a rat, she could get a disease. Nyome gulped and continued to follow Astrophel. “Astro, c-can we turn back and go home?” Nyome asked scared. “I-I guess so.” Astrophel said as scared as Nyome. Nyome turned and screamed; a large Garter Snake was in front of her. Nyome backed up. Astrophel looked in terror and started to gag. “Ew, a snake.” He said scared and disgusted. Nyome thought Astrophel had a right to be scared, but disgusted? Nyome shook the thoughts away to get back into reality. ‘Oh, remembering my siblings would be good right about now.’ Nyome thought her eyes widening as the snake was going near her, opening its mouth. Astrophel looked at the snake then Nyome, he looked grossed out knowing what he must do. Astrophel pounced onto the snake making it fall. He bit through the snake’s tough skin; he made it bleed. The snake cowardly slithered away and went into the water. Astrophel gagged and puked a little. Astrophel looked over at Nyome. “Ok, let’s go before its mother arrives.” Astrophel said leading her away. They soon left the “Bone Zone” and entered the “Quiet Zone,” the giant worm was thankfully out of sight. They left the Tunnel and blinked their eyes to see outside which was a bit lighter. Nyome followed Astrophel to the den, took a deep breath, then flopped on her side falling asleep. After their nap they ate some food with Astrophel’s parents., then went to sleep.
Ch. 4: Nightmare pursues
Nyome woke up in the middle of the night, last night was full of excitement, scared, and disgusted attitudes. “The Tunnel” was certainly a good place to have an adventure, but Nyome hoped she would never go back in. Astrophel suddenly woke up. “Nyome, Nightmare is after us.” He said panicking. Nyome thought deeply. “It was just a dream.” She replied laying her head on her paws. Astrophel laid down and nodded. “Yeah, your probably right.” Astrophel said flopping back down and fell asleep. Nyome looked out the den entrance. Suppose Astrophel was right? Nightmare looking for them……for some unknown reason. Nyome tried to think, maybe it was how they took out some of “The Shadow Wolves,” and he wants to get even, by….killing them. Nyome knew Astrophel wouldn’t be able to help for long, but she hoped while he stays he can help. When he goes Nyome hopes that she’ll be able to hold them off, until possibly after some “Accident” happens to Nightmare. Nyome was sure that “The Death Pack” may hunt them down, or someone anyways. Tazar may do after him, since he wants to be the only one to hurt or make wolves suffer in Slough Creek. Nyome fell asleep deep in thought.
Nightmare was growling at a few of his Shadow Wolves “How come you haven’t found them yet?!?!” He growled. A female shadow wolf approached. “They are clever,” She snapped angerly, “We wouldn’t get them at this rate.” “General Wayfair, you must not disappoint me.” Nightmare said glaring at the female. She nodded. “I will get them.” She said impatiently. She rolled her eyes as she turned. “Don’t give sass to me.” Nightmare growled. The general turned her head. “I can’t promise.” She almost growled. She was mad that he had used her old last name “Wayfair.” The general turned around and left, several Shadow wolves followed. One shadow wolf sat next to Nightmare. “Do you really trust her?” She asked her voice gruff. “I know Nightshade wouldn’t disappoint me.” He said paying no attention to her tone. “General Nightshade Wayfair, has quite a background, you know.” She said in a sharp tone. “So do you, Layhem, as do I.” He said looking at where General Nightshade had left. “I guess anyone here has quite a background, but you have to be careful with her the most.” Layhem said looking over her shoulder at Nightmare’s face. Nightmare got up and padded away into a dark room, with a dim red glow. Layhem sighed, she blew her chance.
Ch. 5: Firelight
Nyome craved to go outside, but there was news of an animal wreaking havoc all over the pack, so Astrophel’s parents kept them inside. Nyome wanted another adventure, expectably with Astrophel who will be taken any day. “Astro, do you wanna sneak out?” Nyome asked rolling over on her back bored. “Yeah, but my ma, and dad are blocking the way out.” Astrophel sighed. “There is a small hole we could fit out over there.” Nyome said pointing her nose to the far corner. “I’m not going over there.” Astrophel replied disgusted. “Why?” Nyome asked tilting her head. “A, because there are snakes, and B, because there are spiders.” He said glaring. Nyome knew he was disgusted with snakes, but she didn’t know how he felt about spiders. “Spiders?” She asked. “Yeah, they are gross, with their hairy legs, so many eyes, hairy body, and it’s pincers, BURRR!” He said grossed out. Nyome giggled. After a while of bothering Astrophel, he finally gave in, and followed Nyome out the hole. Astrophel’s face was priceless. Nyome tried not to laugh at him as they went away. Nyome made Astrophel follow her this time. She insisted on playing tag, Astrophel was it. Astrophel chased after Nyome. Nyome ran into a female wolf, with Orange, Red, white, and yellow fur. She had friendly blue eyes; she was a bit older than Astrophel and Nyome. “I’m sorry.” Nyome apologized. “It’s ok.” She said her voice soothing. Astrophel caught up and looked at the wolf. “Who are you?” He demanded. “I am Firelight, I am probably a few months older than you, me and my parents recently moved here from the Amethyst Mountain segment.” The older pup said smiling. Her name certainly caught what she looked like, and she may also have a fiery temper. “I’m Nyome, and he is Astrophel.” Nyome said smiling. “I’ve heard your name before.” Firelight said rolling her eyes. “The spelling is unique though, it is N-y-o-m-e not N-a-o-m-i.” Nyome said raising her head high. “Ah, that is unique, the Nyome I met was N-a-o-m-I,” Firelight said sitting down, “I’ve never heard the name Astrophel, maybe Astro, and Phel, but not together.” Astrophel beamed in pride at the complement. “Are you an only pup?” Nyome asked. “No, sadly I am not, I have 3 littermate sisters, they are awfully annoying, I came out here to get sanctuary away from them.” Firelight said. “Oh, you don’t want to be an only pup here.” Nyome said plainly. “Well, what do you mean?” Firelight asked tilting your head. “It’s because a ‘Death Pack’ mark would appear on you, because you’ll be their property, it only appears if you are the only pup, if there are more, it’s pretty much random, they may try to take one, but one gets in the way, and they take ‘em instead.” Nyome explained. “Oh,” Firelight stated, “Also you two siblings?” She asked. “No, although his parents are raising me since they rescued me, and I got no memory of where I live, or what my family looks like, or any of their names, Astro here is an only pup, he has the mark.” Nyome said and inhaled a lot of air afterwards. “Ah, Astro? Don’t you mean Astrophel?” Firelight asked. “Yes, I nickname Astrophel, Astro.” Nyome answered. “Oh, well that is stupid, because Astrophel is much better.” Firelight said proudly. “Whatever.” Nyome said rolling her eyes. “Can I see the mark, Astrophel?” Firelight asked in puppy eyes. Her blue eyes were irresistible. “Oh, all right.” He said lifting his paw. On the main paw pad was a wolf skull, with cracks, and a ghostly glow, behind the skull was a fountain like thing, it looked as if the fountain and the skull were separate, the only thing that made them look together was the red sky, blood red. Firelight Ooohed. Nyome had seen the mark before, but not this close. Firelight sat down in between Nyome and Astrophel. Nyome felt lonely since Firelight was talking to Astrophel, they didn’t seem to notice her. Firelight’s ear twitched. “Up, gotta go, bye!” She exclaimed. Firelight’s eyes squinted as she went into Nyome’s face, suddenly her eyes flared up. “Astrophel is mine, don’t even think about it!” She whispered harshly and walked away happily. Nyome froze cold from fear, she did not want to see Firelight again. “See ya’ll tomorrow!” Firelight called out as she was disappearing in the distance. Something in Nyome’s gut told her Firelight wasn’t all good. Nyome trailed after Astrophel as they went back into the den, they crawled back into the hole, with Artus and Nelly in front of them. Nyome and Astrophel gulped. “Where have you been?” Nelly demanded. “We saw absolutely, NO note like thing, we didn’t hear from you, and we got worried.” Artus said less angry. “We just went out, inside was boring.” Astrophel said pawing Nyome trying to get her to talk, Nyome however was white as a sheet. “Why Nyome, are you alright?” Artus asked suddenly. Nyome raised her head and collapsed. “NYOME!” Astrophel yelled putting his front right paw on her. “She went into a coma.” Nelly said turning white. Astrophel tried to remember how she just slipped into a coma, ‘She seemed fine when……...when……Firelight was there…...wait…..Firelight said something to her….could that of affected her? Was Firelight…. evil?’ Astrophel thought and turned white. “I-I think I know what happened.” Astrophel spoke up. Nelly and Artus looked up at him. “There is this female wolf that me and Nyome ran into, I think she bewitched, or something, Nyome.” Astrophel said flattening his ears against his head. Nelly and Artus looked at each other in horror. “Well don’t just stand there, show us!” Nelly exclaimed. Astrophel nodded and led them outside. Astrophel’s parents rushed him, they knew Nyome wouldn’t live long. Astrophel knew it was his duty to save her, since she was his best friend.
Ch. 6: A fiery Temper
They finally arrived at the spot where they met Firelight. Astrophel’s white fur glistened in the moonlight as he sat down heavily, he was very tired. Astrophel’s gray and white paws were soaked in the dew. Artus sat next to his son. Nelly was still up and about trying to figure out what happened with evidence just laying around. Her gray fur was swaying in the wind, the light gray in her fur bounced the moonlight off. Nelly sat heavily next to Artus. After Astrophel felt more power, he got up and led them the way Firelight went. Astrophel followed Firelight’s scent to a dirt mound. Astrophel barked a puppy bark. There was talking inside, they heard arguing, then Firelight’s head popped out. “Oh, Astrophel it’s you.” She sighed in relief. “Me and my parents.” Astrophel said his tone sharp. Firelight looked towards Astrophel’s parents. Nelly’s face was hard not a sign of kindness was in her eyes. Artus’s face was cold and stern. “What’s up with them?” Firelight asked tilting her head a little. “1 word N-y-o-m-e.” Astrophel said his voice stern. “Say what?” Firelight asked confused. “Nyome, I know you did something to her, you b-” Astrophel said, getting cut off by Nelly, “No need to use that language bud.” Nelly’s voice was stern and cold. “Oh, Nyome, what about her?” Firelight asked stalling. “Nyome slipped into a coma a bit after she arrived to the den, we thought you had something to do about it.” Nelly said sternly, Firelight’s face was pale. “That face just tells us we are right.” Nelly said in a winning tone. Firelight’s eyes flared up; her fur grew hot as she crawled out her den. “You know what? The world would do better without you.” Firelight said, her voice a little distorted. Firelight rose dramatically. “Uh-oh.” Astrophel said and dogged a fireball that Firelight sent out. 2 pups were cowering next to their parents in the den. An adult female, looking much like Firelight came out of the den. “Firelight, calm down! Please!” She called out. Firelight turned her head to face her mother. Astrophel pushed her mother out of Firelight’s way as she shot a fireball at her. Nelly snuck over and helped the pups and their father out the den. Nelly snuck them away out of harm. Firelight continued to fly fireballs at her mother, Astrophel, and Artus.
Ch. 7: A fire Extinguished
Nelly sat silently next to Firelight’s family; they were by a creek. “I have a plan.” Nelly said. The female pups looked almost exactly like Firelight, but they had green and blue eyes, flipped on each other, Anala the bright, bouncy, joyful and cheery one had her right eye blue, and her left eye a brilliant emerald, green eye color, Adara the more calm, quiet, dreamy, and shy one had her eye color flipped her green eye being her right eye, and her left eye being blue. Anala and Adara looked at each other after Nelly told the plan, they just hoped it would work, even though they would lose their sister forever. Nelly entered the clearing where they left Firelight, Astrophel, Artus, and Firelight’s mother. “Hey hot head! Over here!” She yelled. Firelight turned her head quickly; her face was completely wicked. Firelight pursued Nelly trying to blast her with fire balls. Nelly reached Firelight’s dad’s spot. He jumped out of bushes. Firelight looked around for Nelly. “Hey Fire throat!” He yelled out. Firelight chased him trying to blast him with fire balls, finally they reached Anala’s spot and hid in a bush. Anala jumped into view. “Hey fire jerk, over here!” Anala yelled. Firelight turned to see her bouncing sister, and chased her to the waters edge, Anala disappeared into the underbrush. Adara suddenly jumped out of bushes and pushed Firelight down into the water. Adara had 1st and 2nd degree burns on her paw, but they quickly healed. Firelight yelled as the water put out the fire. Firelight went with a puff of smoke; her fire had been extinguished. “Thank you for helping us, although we will miss her terribly, now everyone will be at peace…. away from her that is.” The mother said. When they reached their den sight a female pup crawled out. She looked like her sisters, but she had emerald eyes. “What did I miss.” She asked in a left-out tone. “Oh, Aithne.” Anala said shaking her head blissfully. “You might have been left out, but at least you were.” Adara said calmly. Aithne sighed. “You all have all the fun.” She pouted. Their parents rounded them into the den. “Ya’ll welcome to come whenever you want.” The mother said with a tired smile. “Well of course we will, nice meeting you Bedelia, and you too Hagan.” Nelly said softly.
When Nelly, Artus, and Astrophel arrived home, Nyome ran out to meet them. “You were all so brave!” She exclaimed, she looked tired, but she was ok. “What do you mean?” Astrophel asked dumbfounded. Nyome looked at Astrophel with half closed eyes. “I saw you defeat Firelight; it was a vision-like thing.” Nyome said matter-in-factly. “Oh, ok.” Astrophel said climbing on a small mound in the den. Astrophel laid on the soft mound of loose dirt and fell asleep. Nyome went on another mound and fell asleep right there. She wondered what tomorrow would bring.
Ch. 8: General Nightshade
Nyome stared into the void of darkness she couldn’t sleep anymore, she could sense something, something dangerous, to her and Astrophel. Astrophel was sound asleep, not seeming to know there was something going on. Nyome got up hearing pawsteps, which was odd, they never got any visitors, and all the pack should be asleep around now. Astrophel stirred quietly in his sleep, he wouldn’t be asleep for long. Astrophel suddenly woke up and bounded over to Nyome after there was an eerie howl. He ran straight into her, making both fell on the ground with a thump, Astrophel was on top of Nyome. “Get off, Astro!” Nyome exclaimed in a hushed voice. “What was that?” Astrophel asked getting up. “It was a ‘Shadow Wolf’ I expect.” Nyome almost growled. “You bet!” A female voice was heard outside. Nyome looked out the den, a female wolf with dark grey fur, and light gray fur on her chest and some on her snout and forehead, she had a black flower with a yellowish/green middle, she had a butterfly with black wings, dark brown body and antennae, a black band kept it on. “I am General Nightshade; I am here to pup nap you.” She said military like. Astrophel and Nyome stared at each other astonished. “Why did you tell us?” Nyome laughed looking at her. “Shoot…...I didn’t mean to.” General Nightshade said sighing. “Are you getting old?” Astrophel asked. “You don’t age much, if you were napped as a pup, you age to, age 2, then stop growing, I was taken when I was 4, a little late, but I knew Tazar, Jezabelle, and Storm personally, we all lived here, Jezabelle followed Storm to Lost River, and killed her there, making Storm the first demon, When Jezabelle was home, she got upset and went to Amethyst Mountain, and committed suicide, Tazar died at age 5, when I was 3, he died here in Slough Creek, after the curse was established some adults were hunted down, including me, I was taken age 4, and I am still technically 4, then they kicked me out, and I joined the shadow wolves, Nightmare made me general since I was a general when I lived.” Nightshade said, she took a deep breath. “What a story.” Nyome said. Astrophel rolled his eyes. “We can easily take you down!” Astrophel growled. “Astro! She has ACTUAL fighting experience!” Nyome growled at him. “She’s right, I’m going to be hard to take down.” Nightshade said lowering her head. “You’re not taking us, still!” Astrophel growled. Nightshade laughed. “Pups, I gotta, you know what happens when you break your orders from Nightmare?” Nightshade asked flattening her ears against her head. “Nope.” Astrophel growled. “He’ll torture you, harshly, then after 2 years of torture, either he kills you, or gives you a second chance.” She said looking towards the mountains in the distance. “Why not run away?” Nyome asked in sympathy. “He can track me down.” Nightshade said a tear appeared. “I’ve been killing, Pup napping, and what not for him for almost 50 years, yet what thanks to I get? I wanna retire! I want to be alive; he has the ability to set me free, he just will not do it!” Nightshade replied. “That sucks, looks like you can skip this one though.” Astrophel said. “I can’t, just 1 will probably make him decide not to release me ever!” Nightshade replied to him. “And you think there is even a sliver of hope, of him doing it?” Nyome asked. “Your right, he will never do it, but what about me? He’ll probably kill me!” She exclaimed. “If he does, you’ll be free.” Nyome pointed out. “Why…yes that is true.” Nightshade replied. Nightshade ran off deciding to miss this mission would be worth it.
She had deep wounds on her from falling a lot. When She reached Nightmare, he thought the pups did the damage. “Where are they?” Nightmare demanded. Layhem lingered nearby hoping to see some punishment. “The sun came up, and they stalled me.” Nightshade said suddenly, she didn’t want to die, she realized, and it was true the sun is out, and her not being in the death pack anymore, can’t make mist. Nightmare let her off easily. “Next time you better get them!” Nightmare exclaimed. Layhem stayed nearby. Nightshade left the room relieved. “The curse is taking you over.” Layhem said worried. “I don’t want them to know, it will weaken me, until it leaves me no choice but to transform.” He said his voice weakening. Layhem’s face was worried as she left the room. Going after these pups wouldn’t help his state, he mustn’t take over.
Ch. 9: Adventure with Anala and Adara
Nyome and Astrophel headed over to Anala and Adara’s den, Astrophel hoped the 2 would go with them on an adventure, especially if Nightmare comes after them. They soon reached the den Anala and Adara answered. “Hello!” Anala said cheerfully. Her eyes reached Nyome. “Ah, you must be Nyome, his friend.” She said with a friendly smile. Adara stayed behind Anala daydreaming, and fantasizing. “Anyone care to go on an adventure?” Nyome asked. “Yes!” Anala exclaimed jumping with joy. Adara agreed quietly. Nyome led them out. They ran a far while and reached the border of Junction Pack and Sky Pack. ‘So that is my pack territory….at least was.’ Nyome thought. Nyome sighed, if only she remembered her family better. Anala called them over to an area. “Look it’s the Alpha and his Beta!” She exclaimed with great joy. They went down to greet them. “Hello!” Anala said ecstatic. The Alpha and Beta jumped with surprise. “Sorry Alpha Ezequias, and Beta Hattie.” Adara said shyly, and pawed Anala. Anala flinched and glared at her sister. “Why who is this?” Ezequias asked pointing his snout towards Nyome. “She is Nyome, my parents are taking care of her.” Astrophel said slowly. Nyome sunk into the ground, she didn’t like the attention of Alphas and Betas. (Even though her own mother is an Alpha, and her sister Artemis is the Beta) Nyome flushed in embarrassment and hung her head in shame. Astrophel looked over at Nyome and tried not to laugh. Hattie looked over Nyome trying to figure her out. “Your definitely not a part of Junction Pack, where are your origins?” Hattie demanded. “I was from Sky Pack, although no one, including me knows my parents.” Nyome said bluntly. Hattie looked her over again. “You remind me of no Sky Pack wolves, I see resemblance to Beaver Pack although.” Hattie said speaking her mind. Astrophel looked at Nyome, then at Hattie. “But she is from Sky Pack, you can ask my parents if you will.” Astrophel said. Nyome groaned; she didn’t want Artus or Nelly to be involved. “No, that wouldn’t be necessary.” Hattie said shaking her head, then smiling. Ezequias wasn’t as kind towards Nyome as Hattie was. He flung his tail into Nyome’s face as he left. He came back and whipped poor Nyome, who did nothing! On her neck. It left a deep scrape, hurting like heck. She cried out. “Why’d you do that!?!” Astrophel said glaring at his Alpha. “All Sky Pack are cowards, including her.” Ezequias growled. “She isn’t a coward! She stood up to Nightmare!” Astrophel snapped. He sighed, he just made a mistake mentioning the fight, now Ezequias will probably tell his parents, and they’ll guess that Nightmare is after them. Anala and Adara’s faces where horrified, from what their alpha had done, and what Astrophel said. “Is that true?” He demanded to Nyome who was blinded by tears. He knew she would tell the truth, since she was in so much pain. “Yes.” She admitted pain in her voice. Hate flashed into her eyes, but it quickly went away. “Also, I am not a coward, you literally hurt me bad! I can barley move my front paws, unless I’d hurt it! Also, I know better then to lash out at an Alpha with my paws, I’m smarter than that!” Nyome said almost snarling. Ezequias’s face was pleased, he had gotten her to speak her mind. “Look, pup! Fighting in this pack, shows you are strong!” Ezequias snarled and flicked his tail at her and left. Anala and Adara were pale at this point. Hattie bade farewell and turned to follow Ezequias. Nyome soon got up; she limped as she followed Astrophel to a place near “The Tunnel.” “Oh, trust me you don’t wanna go in there.” Nyome said a little pain in her voice as Anala pressed some herbs against the cut, Nyome was instructing her, after all Nelly had been teaching her about herbs, and other plants that help with wounds, illnesses, etc... Nyome stayed still as Anala pored the healing mixture into her wound, she flinched at the first drop, because it stung. After they were done Nyome laid nearby on a dirt mound full of loose dirt. “Anyone else here a rumbling sound?” Nyome asked lifting her head to look at the others. Astrophel looked around, as did Anala and Adara. A low rumbling sound came from the tunnel. “It’s coming from the tunnel.” Astrophel whispered. “Yeah, I hear that.” Anala whispered backing up. “It may not come out…….it may just be passing near the hole.” Astrophel whispered. Nyome slowly got up. “I don’t think…. it’s just passing.” She said with fear in her voice. She flinched in a bit of pain as her cut flexed. Astrophel had doubt on his face, he knew it was going to come out. They backed slowly away from the opening. A giant snake mouth was seen coming out of the tunnel, it was too small of an opening, so the snake banged into it breaking it wide enough to go through. It was a giant garter snake, bigger than the one they ran into last time. “There’s the momma.” Nyome whispered to Astrophel as they backed away. “Yup, that’s momma alright.” Astrophel whispered in return. The mother snake sniffed the air looking for a specific scent. “You think she’s looking for us?” Nyome asked. “Yes, at least me, if you look at her eyes, you’ll notice she is blind.” Astrophel answered. “Back away slowly.” Nyome whispered to Anala and Adara. Anala stepped on a stick making a crack sound. The mother snake stopped her head and tried to pinpoint the source of the sound. “Stay absolutely still.” Astrophel whispered. They stopped moving. The mother pinpointed the sound and sniffed the stick, she shook her head, she wasn’t looking for that scent. She found Astrophel’s scent and pinpointed it to where he was. “Run.” Astrophel whispered to the others. They all bolted away. Anala’s blue and emerald eyes scanned for a place to hide. Adara’s blue and emerald eyes were filled with fear as she followed her sister. Nyome’s brown eyes darted corner to corner, she was scanning for her friends, she saw Anala and Adara’s fur disappear into a small ditch only big enough to hold the two. Nyome looked back at Astrophel who was falling behind. “Astro! Hurry! We are almost to shelter!” Nyome yelled his way; she was telling the truth there was another ditch about the same size as Anala and Adara’s. Nyome jumped in and waited to see Astrophel’s white fur to come in. Astrophel’s grey paw was in the ditch then his white paw, then his back legs, he fell flat on his face. The snake tried to put her face into the hole and tried to make it wider. Her face disappeared into the shadows, and they heard fighting. “You can come out now, the snake has gone back into the sewers.” An unfamiliar female voice was heard out the ditch. Nyome hesitated; who was this wolf? “For dog’s sake, I’m not going to harm you.” She said, her accent was British. Astrophel and Nyome crawled out the ditch. There was a cloaked wolf, about a year old. “Hallo.” She said turning around. She was brown with a star symbol with 4 sides almost like a diamond, the inner star was a light brown the outer rim was a dark shade of brown, the star was on her chest, the surroundings was lighter than the rim, then it was lighter out. Her face had a blot of brown around her right eye which was blue, there was a small paw mark below her left eye it was the same color as her chest. She had light brown on her cheek fur, and on her snout. “I’m Evelina, my friends call me Eve or Eva though.” She said smiling. “I like your Australian accent.” Astrophel said. Evelina’s eyes drooped looking sinister. “My accent is not Australian! I have a British accent.” Evelina said sounding superior. “Yeah, sure it is.” Astrophel said sarcastically. Nyome dropped down laughing, it hurt her wound, but she didn’t care. “Why did you help us?” Nyome asked getting up. “You see, I’ve been assigned to protect you 2, well at least until Astrophel is taken, then it’ll just be you, I am to protect you until Nightmare and Layhem is defeated.” Evelina answered. “Oh.” Nyome said and shrugged. “What are sewers?” Astrophel asked remembering what Evelina had said. “
Ch. 10: Last Adventure with Astrophel
Nyome was first to wake, slowly the memory of Evelina hit her in the head. ‘What a cool wolf.’ Nyome thought. Anala and Adara woke up shortly after Nyome. An hour later Astrophel woke up. Astrophel looked over at Nyome and smiled. When they arrived home last night Nelly and Artus were concerned with Nyome’s wound, especially after they told them what happened with the alpha. Artus and Nelly decided to quarantine them to the den, not Anala and Adara of course, and they could visit as much as they liked, but Artus and Nelly wanted to keep Nyome in the den at all costs, since the Alpha didn’t like her, and they didn’t want to give him a reason to kill her. Nelly and Artus woke up soon and went out to hunt, they came back in with 2 dead newborn elk, and dropped them down, 1 was for Astrophel and Nyome, and the other was for Anala and Adara. The pups dug into the carcasses and lay down content. Nelly and Artus sat nearby, they had eaten before they brought the newborn elk over, but their faces were troubled. Nyome turned her head; she knew Astrophel’s time in the den was soon to end. Nyome knew she was about to finish her promise, even if it was to herself. Nyome approached to Nelly and Artus. “Astro wouldn’t be here much longer, will he?” Nyome asked as calm as possible. “We got word that ‘The Death Pack’ is planning to take pups tomorrow.” Nelly said heartbroken, she didn’t want her last pup to be taken, after all after this litter she would retire being a mom and be an elder, same with Artus although he’d retire being a father. Nyome snuggled with Nelly and Artus until they fell asleep. Nyome went to Astrophel. Anala and Adara had left a bit ago saying goodbye. What Anala and Adara didn’t know just yet is that this will be their last time seeing Astrophel. “Hey, Astro, how do you feel about one last adventure?” Nyome asked. “I think that would be brilliant.” Astrophel answered with a twinkle in his eyes, so he knew he would be taken tomorrow too. Nyome and Astrophel snuck out the den and decided to go deep into the forest, maybe there was a surprise there. As they headed to the forest, they saw a cloaked figure in the distance, must be Evelina. Nyome smiled at the thought, she liked Evelina, she was her idol……. idol…...reminds her of something she forgot she sees a face, but it quickly disappears as she enters “The Forbidden Forest” a part of the forest that was dangerous, Astrophel always wanted to go in, now that it will be his last day here with her, they were going in. Nyome caught a glimpse of Evelina’s cloak as they went deeper, Evelina’s presence made Nyome calm. Nyome remembered her other adventures with Astrophel, all of them had life threatening situations, Nyome smirked thinking of them. There weren’t many, but Nyome treasured them. Evelina appeared jumping at them moving them out of the way of something, Nyome and Astrophel didn’t see what it was since they were pushed into bushes, all they knew was that the creature was large, maybe a wild boar or something. “What was that?” Nyome asked. Evelina turned to face them. “That thing works for Nightmare, he is part boar, part unknown things, mostly since no one is able to get a close enough look at it, they call it the ‘Wha….AH’ since that is all they are able to call it until it sucks the life out of them.” Evelina said looking back at the path. Nyome stared at the path. “I’ll call it Boro.” Nyome said with a slight smile. Astrophel smirked and stifled a laugh. Nyome pawed him to shut up because of Evelina’s face. “Call him what you will, but you wouldn’t live long if you cross paths with him.” Evelina snapped, she turned to leave, but Nyome got in her way. “No stay.” Nyome said with a frown, she didn’t wanna be alone with Astrophel. “Alright.” Evelina mumbled and led them into the forest. Nyome followed, she was excited, she hoped she would spend the whole entire day with Evelina. Astrophel who wasn’t paying attention bounded after them. Nyome felt a weird feeling, like they were being watched, Evelina felt it too and looked around squinting her eyes dramatically. “Something evil is lurking.” She said dramatically. “Like that killer Australian accent?” Astrophel asked with a smirk. “No, and how many times do I have to tell you? It is a British accent!” Evelina exclaimed angerly. “At least a million times.” Nyome whispered stifling a laugh. Evelina rolled her eyes, but she agreed. As they continued forward Evelina looked around protectively. Nyome liked how brave and how able to fight Evelina was. As they proceeded a giant eagle like creature that was crowded with shadows came down and almost scooped up Nyome. “An air raid!” Evelina exclaimed as more shadowy eagle creatures swooped down, one aggressively scratched Nyome’s back while trying to scoop her up, but Evelina fought it away. The air raid lasted for until Evelina scared them off. It was getting dark. Evelina was quiet and led them to her camp where she was staying. The camp was an old human tent still set up, with a fireplace nearby and a few old human toys, working tools, and clothes. Nyome saw a bunch of cloaks. ‘Ah that’s where she gets them all.’ Nyome thought with a smile. Evelina started a fire when it got darker, Nyome and Astrophel were at first scared of the flames, but they got used to them. “The fire keeps away the Shadow Wolves, and Nightmare’s other servants, the downside is that it draws the bugs.” Evelina said a few moths came to the flame and were burnt to a crisp. Nyome and Astrophel drifted to sleep. Evelina looked at the sky and sighed, what a night. Eveline got up and picked up Nyome and Astrophel and laid them on her back. She went to Astrophel’s home. “Hello anyone there?” Evelina asked into the den. “Uh…yes, who is it?” Nelly asked. “You don’t know me, but I know your child and Nyome, I’m here to return them.” Evelina said into the den. Nelly gasped and went to the opening. “Well come on in mysterious cloaked figure.” Nelly said. Evelina went in and carefully slid the pups off her back onto the soft ground. “They shouldn’t stray in the night it isn’t save, especially for them.” Evelina said eying Nelly. “I didn’t let them leave they snuck out. And Astrophel will hopefully be safe tomorrow.” Nelly said sighing. Evelina left with a frown, she wished she could save Astrophel from the claws of “The Death Pack,” but her past was making right now difficult.
Ch. 11: Evelina's Backstory, (Pt. 1)
She woke up to the sound of her mother calling her. She ran over to her and sat obediently, her brown fur was shone on by the sun seeping through the den. “Lily, I will be going for a bit, you stay here, its not save outside.” Her mother said in a British accent. “Yes mother.” The pup said raising her head. After her mother left this Lily sighed, she didn’t wanna be couped out, her dad taught her how to fight, and told her about a mission place, where fighters went to get “Quests” that was a while ago, now her dad was missing, no one knew what became of him, it’s been 2 months since he disappeared. Lily curled up into a ball she wanted to forget everything, she was usually obedient to her mother, but she felt like leaving the den going to the mission place getting a “quest” she thought maybe she could get a quest to find her father. Lily looked outside and got up she crawled out. Lily looked back at the den and smiled, she felt free, she felt alive! Lily tried her best to follow her fathers instructions, even though they were 3-4 months old. Lily was about 5 months old. Lily found a giant den like place, she went inside. There were many wolves inside some with scars, others were training, they were about her age. Lily reached a desk like thing (which was really just a rock) a she-wolf was behind it. “Hallo.” Lily said in a British accent. The she-wolf looked around than down. “Why hello, are you in training?” The she-wolf asked pleasantly. “No, but my dad taught me.” Lily said slowly. “Ah, how old are you?” the she-wolf asked. “I’m 5 months old.” Lily said with a smile. “And who was your dad?” The she-wolf asked. Lily thought for a moment. “His name was Clive, he is missing.” Lily said slowly. The she-wolf’s reaction acted as if she knew Clive. Many other wolves stared at Lily. “Why the reaction?” Lily whispered. “You see Clive is our best member, and he has been missing for quite a while, we’ve sent many looking for them, they either came back disappointed or wounded, or never came back, this mystery….is well a puzzling mystery.” The she-wolf said slowly. “What is your name?” Lily asked. “My name is Channa, well my undercover name is, what is yours? Don’t tell me your real name.” The she-wolf whispered. Lily thought for a moment. “I’m Lil, I mean Evelina.” Lily whispered. “Well Evelina, welcome to the U.W.A.M.D.” Channa said with a smile. “What does U.W.A.M.D stand for?” Lily asked. “Undercover Wolf Association Mission Den is what it stands for.” Channa said and smiled. Lily went by Evelina now. Evelina walked down to the mission place where they assign the missions. “Hallo.” Evelina said with a smile to the lead mission assigner. “Hello, you are?” He asked stiff. “I’m Lil- I mean Evelina.” Evelina said with a smile. “What are you here for?” He asked stiff. “My first mission.” Evelina said smiling. “Who’s your partner?” He demanded. Evelina thought and looked at him in the eye. “I don’t have one……yet.” Evelina said her smile disappearing. “Well, I can assign one to you, we have one that may fit you.” He said and thought for a moment. “Arlo! You have a new partner!” He yelled. A male wolf about Evelina’s age came it. He was a grey wolf with brown around his right eye and on his chest and paws, he had a stub for a tail, his right ear was torn, his left eye was gone, the eye he did have a was green, and there was a scar along his back. He was not smiling, but his eyes brightened when he saw Evelina, he acted like she wasn’t there and approached the assigner. “Meet your new partner.” The assigner said. “Who Starchest? She looks as if she could go in a cute pagget with that fur, wouldn’t wanna ruin it in dirt or from a fight.” The wolf who was Arlo said. “Well, ‘Bunnytail’ I would be able to kill before I gain a scratch!” Evelina said aggravated. The look on Arlo’s face made her flush in embarrassment, he was teasing her. “Well, ‘Starchest” what is your name?” Arlo asked. “My name is Evelina.” Evelina said finally getting a hold of saying her undercover name. “Well now that the 2 of you are introduced, I can give your first assignment, Yes Arlo it is your 3rd.” The Assigner said. He told them about their mission.
“Prey is disappearing for no reason, wolves a vanishing, including Clive our best agent, you are to find what in the world is going on, if able to find the missing agents take the opportunity, if not get yourselves out of there the missing agents are:
Clive, Monkey, Chiwawa, Piranha, Withermaid, Locket, Jazz, Rocket, Milo, Opera, Opium, Poppy, Lias, Lupe, Luca, Water, Liam, And many others
It is your job to find out what happened to them, come back to get the rescue squad.” Is what he said.
Ch. 11: Evelina's Backstory, (Pt. 2)
The first mission
Evelina was walking with Arlo down a path. “My real name is Iggy, I didn’t like the name, so I went by Arlo, The Assigner is my father, his undercover name is ‘Joans’ and his real name is, well I don’t know he never told me. My mother didn’t like me getting sucked into this mission stuff, she said it was ‘Too dangerous.’ I guess it is dangerous, after all I lost an eye, most of my tail, my ear, and I have the longest scar in the world on my back, but anyways that’s pretty much it, what about you?” Arlo asked. “Well my real name is Lily, my parents names are, Clive and Mia.” Evelina answered slowly. “Wait, THEE Clive?” Arlo asked surprised stopping in his tracks. “Yes ‘thee Clive.’” Evelina said, she was starting to get annoyed by everyone’s reactions when she mentions her dad is Clive. They continued and saw the first clue. An wolf that looked like he didn’t wanna be followed was walking to a trap like thing with a bunny trapped inside, he picked up it up bunny and all, then walked off. Arlo and Evelina followed him to a giant den like thing that wasn’t there before. The wolf put the trap inside. There were many other traps inside with many different animals including some wolves who are some of the many missing agents. The wolf went out with another trap and dropped it down. He pressed his nose against a plate and the den like thing went down. The wolf walked away with the trap unaware of the two who were hiding in underbrush. When the male was out of sight Evelina and Arlo went to where they saw the den thing disappear. Evelina looked at Arlo and headed to where they saw the spherelike place disappear. There was to sign that there was ever a sphere, but Evelina found a little button on a rock and pressed it with her paw. The Sphere thing again arose. Evelina pressed a panel with her nose, and it opened. Arlo stayed guard to make sure the wolf wouldn’t come back. Prey and Predator alike stared at her inside glasslike cages. A few agents stared at her wonder in their eyes. Evelina sighed in disappointment Clive her father wasn’t among them. “Don’t worry rescue teams will be sent.” Evelina said to the wolves trying to give hope. Evelina turned and left. Arlo greeted her with a smile. Evelina touched a panel and it closed.
Rescue teams went to the sphere and released all of them that were there. One wolf who was an agent knew where all the spheres were and went with Evelina and Arlo and a rescue team to free the captured. To Evelina’s disappointment her father wasn’t among the rescued. The Assigner congratulated Arlo and Evelina for finding all of the missing agents, but Clive. Arlo and Evelina went out, they had finished their mission, or so they thought. An agent that they helped rescued went over to them. “You looking for Clive?” He asked and looked around secretive. Evelina nodded her head. The wolf motioned the 2 to follow him into a room. “So you know about the spheres right?” He asked. “Yes.” Evelina said nodding. “See this map, these are where the spheres were located. In the middle they connect here to an underground base where Clive is, being asked for information.” He said serious. Evelina thanked him and rounded Arlo up and went to where this base was. Evelina spotted a hard to see hole and approached it she and Arlo slipped through.
The underground base was huge, they went through corridors following Evelina’s nose since she remembers her father’s scent. Evelina went into a room and found her father, he was dying he had lots of open wounds. “Lily? My Lily?” He asked weakly he looked up out of to empty eyes he had been blinded. “Yes, it’s Lily.” Evelina said with tears. She licked her father’s matted fur lovingly. They brought Clive to the U.W.M.A.D.A where Clive was brought to the hospital area.
It was months before a nurse went to fetch Evelina. “He is dying, this time he will die.” The nurse said in a hurry with horror in her eyes. The nurse led Evelina to Clive’s room. Clive lifted his empty eyes to the door, some of his eyesight came back he could see blurs now. “Lily?” He asked weakly, “Is that you?” “Yes, It’s me father.” Evelina said crying going to him. “Came to say goodbye?” Clive asked weakly. “Yes.” Evelina said nodding. Clive liked Evelina’s tear ridden face. “Listen to your assigner for me, and always try to protect your partner no matter what happens.” Clive said weaker. “I will father.” Evelina sobbed. “Goodbye.” Clive said his voice fading. “Goodbye my dear father.” Evelina sobbed sitting down heavily watching her father die. She blamed herself she hadn’t saved him in time.
The Second Mission
Evelina and Arlo were called into the Assigner’s room. “I have a mission for you two.” He said with a serious face. Evelina straitened up next to Arlo. “You see we have a mission for you, there is a new group of evildoers, and I want you to sneak this timed bomb inside, when you start it get out fast before the bomb blows up, you have about 6 minutes to get out, be careful.” The Assigner said. Evelina and Arlo nodded in acceptance. They went out with the timed bomb and made way to the evildoers’ base. They snuck in quietly and put the bomb in place, Arlo was on watch as Evelina was setting the bomb, she started the timer and quickly went out and collected Arlo. They rushed away from the room and ran into some evildoers. They got into a fight with them. Arlo was nocked into a wall. Evelina killed one and Arlo struggled to kill another. Evelina helped Arlo defeat the remaining evildoers. As they left the bomb went off and sent out a blast as Arlo was leaving the hole, the rocks above him fell crushing his abdomen, he was dead, but Evelina didn’t know that yet. Evelina hurryingly took the rocks off of him. She saw her crippeled partner, his head was bleeding badly, his belly had a large hole in it blood was coming out and his ribs were showing. Evelina’s promise to her dad flashed in her mind, she had failed. She sobbed all the way to U.W.A.M.D. The assigner was upset that his son had died.
The third mission

After Evelina was a little over 1.Evelina was surprised when she was called to her assigner’s room, she had been refusing every wolf who was to be her partner, and the assigner had given up with trying to assign partners to him. When Evelina went inside, she was even more surprised to see no one other then her assigner. “We have a mission for you, it is a solo mission, so you have no need to have a partner. Your mission is to protect these pups who Nightmare is after, Astrophel is supposed to be taken any day so you won’t protect him long, but there is still Nyome you have to take care of.” The Assigner said. Evelina nodded; she hated Nightmare since he was the reason why her father had died. She was to protect these pups with all her heart.
Ch. 12: Astrophel says Goodbye
Astrophel woke up next to Nyome who was already awake. He was wondering how they got back to his home. Nyome, Nelly, and Artus’s eyes were on the den entrance, it was foggy out. Nelly motioned Nyome over to her and hid her with her tail. “When did we get here?” Astrophel asked. “Your friend Evelina had dropped you off.” Nelly said strictly. “Doesn’t she have an awesome Australian accent?” Astrophel asked dreamily. “Yeah.” Artus said with a smile. Nyome stifled a laugh. “I think it’s actually a British accent.” Nelly said in great thought. Artus and Astrophel sighed, they didn’t wanna get in a fight. Nyome lay down in the comfort of Nelly’s tail. Nyome peeked over Nelly’s tail and set her eyes on Astrophel. A figure came in and approached Astrophel. The figure was a white wolf with a ghostly glow. He seemed as if he felt an extra presence and looked at Nelly’s tail. Nyome hid back in the tail. The figure turned back to Astrophel and scooped him up. Nyome peeked back up. Astrophel mouthed goodbye to her, Nelly, and Artus, then the wolf took him outside the den and disappeared in the fog. The fog stayed the rest of the day.
The next day Nyome was allowed to go out of the den to check on Adara and Anala. She slipped into the den, their sister Aithne was taken last night. The three mourned the rest of the day with each other.
Ch. 13: Layhem's defeat
Layhem looked sternly at General Nightshade, she still hadn’t brought the pups. “Well 2 days ago Astrophel was taken by the ‘Death Pack,’ I wanted to let Nyome have a day to mourn before I take her in.” Nightshade explained. Layhem knew Nightmare wouldn’t tolerate for this, since his curse was taking over, he has been more stern, weak, and his temper tolerance had decreased causing him to get mad fast. “Ok then, I’ll just go after her myself!” Layhem said and left the room. Nightshade followed her. “Wait let me help!” Nightshade said catching up. “Fine.” Layhem sighed. They went out the fortress with cloaks on looking mysterious.
Evelina stared down at the path, 2 hooded figures hurried forward bellow. Evelina squinted her eyes and followed among the treetops. The cloaked wolves looked up feeling like they were being watched. Evelina recognized Layhem and Nightshade almost immediately after she saw their faces. Layhem and Nightshade hurried forward. Evelina followed carefully and quietly among the treetops, she followed them to Artus’s and Nelly’s den.
Adara and Anala were over, Nyome was sitting by them. Nelly and Artus were outside sunbathing. 2 cloaked figures appeared. Nyome peaked out. Artus and Nelly were being talked to. “Why do you need Nyome?” Nyome heard Nelly say. A thump was heard on the den roof. A head peaked in the opening it was Evelina, she slipped in. “Evelina!” Nyome exclaimed in a whisper. “Layhem, Nightmare’s assister is here to get you.” Evelina whispered. “Why it’s day isn’t it?” Nyome asked. “Yes.” Evelina said. “Why, your making it seem that they can’t be out at day.” Anala whispered confused. “It’s because they can’t.” Nyome whispered. “They are cloaked, go for the cloaks.” Evelina whispered. The 4 went out of the den. Layhem’s grey/brown eyes flashed red as she saw Nyome, she lunged at her, but Evelina grabbed her tail and pulled her away. Nightshade didn’t know what to do. Nightshade lunged at Evelina and made her drop Layhem. Evelina turned at Nightshade who had a look of surprise. Layhem lunged at Evelina grasping her cloak and ripping the end. Evelina was choking. Nyome pounced on Layhem and ripped the hood off. Layhem let go, her face was burning she ran into the comfort of the woods with Nightshade, Layhem had been defeated. “They may come back some day, unless Nightmare kills them.” Evelina said looking were they had fled. Artus and Nelly were stunned. “What was that?” Nelly demanded. “That was Layhem and Nightshade they were trying to get Nyome, I don’t know what they want her for though.” Evelina said looking at Nelly. Nelly gasped and rounded everyone into the den.
“Do you wish to tell me something?” Nightmare asked the two females who had stumbled inside. Layhem’s face was burned, her cloak was ripped. Nightshade’s cloak was a little ripped and her ear was burned. “You tell him, you’re his assister.” Nightshade whispered to Layhem. “We tried to get Nyome, and we were unsuccessful.” Layhem said at the steps. Nightmare didn’t look like himself, his eyes were slowly turning dark red, and his pupils had some blood red on it. His fur was darker in certain areas with dots that looked like stars, that were red, purple, and white, 2 blood red wings were forming dripping blood behind him. “Again!?!” Nightmare exclaimed. Layhem flinched as did Nightshade. “Do you know what happens to those who fail?” Nightmare asked, the curse made the things expand till it was half taking over him, bellow his eyes had blood red that was like dripping down. “Yes.” Layhem gulped. “Layhem you’ve only failed this once, but you Nightshade, my general, has failed twice, for this you shall die, may this be a lesson for you Layhem!” Nightmare cried. Nightmare rose his right paw and lifted Nightshade; her cloak slipped to the ground as he lifted her. He reached the only window in the fortress. The sunlight streamed in burning Nightshade’s back. Nightshade cried in pain as Nightmare set her a flame. She went out with a puff of smoke. Nightshade was dead. Layhem watched in horror, she still had horror in her eyes as she left the room. Nightmare fell asleep, exhausted. ‘This time I must not fail him.’ Layhem thought as she entered the corridor.
Ch. 14: Captured
Nyome was sitting by Nelly. This was a week after the attack from Layhem and Nightshade. Evelina had no work of Layhem or Nightshade coming, but she kept an eye out. Nyome stood up and stretched, she was hoping Adara, and Anala would come today, but they might not. Artus was out for watch, which wasn’t that normal for him since he wasn’t Gamma or a scout. Nyome sighed and slid down into a laying position; she was yet again not allowed out in case she runs into the alpha again. Nelly’s eyes were blank, she was tired and sad, she was missing Astrophel again. Nyome kept badgering Nelly to let her out, Nelly finally gave in. Nyome bounded out. She looked around, she suddenly missed Astrophel as she thought of memories. She went on her way to Adara and Anala’s den. As she was on her way she suddenly fell to the ground. A cloaked figure appeared; it was a female wolf; Layhem. Nyome’s vision blurred as she tried to slowly etch away. ---Darkness---
Nyome awoke in a cage, it was above Nightmare and Layhem, so she could see and hear them. “Her protector never even showed up.” Layhem said looking up. “You still got her! I am proud of you!” Nightmare exclaimed with a smile. Nyome flattened her ears against her head as she slowly moved around. Layhem had broken Nyome’s right paw, which was in case she escaped and wouldn’t go far. Nyome whimpered in pain as she put pressure to it. Nyome laid down and had her right leg over her left leg so it wouldn’t hurt as much. Layhem left the room in a few minutes. Nightmare looked up. “You’ll be perfect for the ritual.” Nightmare said toothily. Nyome didn’t like the sound of “ritual” she knew it probably involved her life being taken or something. Nyome sunk down, she was obviously scared, her fear scent filled the cage.
Ch. 15: Rescued
Nyome was taken out of the cage at Sunhigh and taken to a place that has this circular like thing with runes inside and out. Nightmare was wearing a cloak that made him look menacing, his curse was still half taken over. Layhem was nearby making sure no one came in nor out. Nightmare’s cold look made Nyome shiver. A few wolves came in with Layhem’s permission, all of them were wearing black cloaks the hoods covered their eyes. Nyome recognized them all as female “Shadow Wolves” some seemed like they didn’t wanna do this, some seemed to wanna really do it. There were 4 they went to four sides of the circle standing on runes. There was an inner circle near Nightmare. Layhem pushed her on it. There was a circular chandelier right above Nightmare, it had a lot of gems hanging off of it, Nyome looked up and gasped quietly as she saw a piece of cloak disappear. Nyome knew it was Evelina. ‘So, she hadn’t forgot me.’ Nyome thought. The Shadow wolves around them started to chant, as they did their hoods came off and revealed white glowing eyes, columns of white light went around all the 4 shadow wolves as they lifted up. Suddenly the chandelier fell on top of Nightmare. Evelina jumped off and was greeted by a hug from Nyome. “Quickly now.” Evelina said leading her out carefully. Nyome’s leg was still broken, and it was still a little stiff from her sleep. Evelina and Nyome soon reached outside. Adara and Anala were there waiting for them, their eyes brightened up when they saw Nyome and Evelina. There was a loud, long, eerie roar heard from the fortress. Nyome’s spine tingled. Evelina looked toward the fortress shock on her face. Nyome looked at her protector with horror in her eyes. A blood dripping wing came out of the entrance followed by another; Nightmare had transformed. Nightmare propelled his body out, his grey fur was much darker, with starlike spots all over his fur. His eyes were a dark red with blood red pupils, there was blood red spots under his eyes that looked like blood flowing slowly. His blood red wings looked as if some of his blood was taken out and shaped like blood, it dripped occasionally. Where his wings touched made a blood smear. His eyes befell on Nyome and squinted. He was towering over all the others much bigger than what he had been. Nightmare lunged at Nyome. Evelina grabbed onto Nyome’s neck scruff and pulled her out the way, there was a large empty chop where Nyome use to be. Nightmare roared in anger. “Get back here you b-” Nightmare was saying until a large flame hit him. Firelight appeared behind him her fur was back to flames although some of her looked like coal. “She’s mine!” Firelight snarled. Nightmare turned to look at the newcomer. “And you are?” Nightmare asked looking her over. “I am Firelight,” Firelight growled, “And I hate Nyome with a passion!” “That’s one thing we agree on.” Nightmare growled looking at Nyome with pure hatred. Nyome returned the hard glare. Nightmare persuaded Firelight to help him kill Nyome and they both turned around to look at Nyome strain in the eyes. Adara and Anala went in front of Nyome and growled, their blue and green eyes lit up like a flame in hostility. “You wanna get me?” Firelight asked growling, “Come get me.” Anala and Adara looked at their friend Nyome and saw pain, she was still not over Astrophel being taken by “The Death Pack.” Anala nodded at Adara, there eyes still flared up. Anala and Adara’s eyes narrowed, and they nodded at each other and sprinted off. The sisters jumped and landed on Firelight who was floating it unbalanced her for a few seconds, but she was able to throw them off. The sisters banged into a nearby tree, knocking the breath out of them for a little bit. Nyome looked over at her friends than looked at her enemies. Her brown eyes were brimming with tears. Evelina Went in front of Nyome to protect her. Layhem and a bunch of Shadow Wolves came out, they were still loyal to Nightmare even if some had an uneasy look on their faces. Soon the place they were in was filed with a battle. Layhem was fighting Evelina. Anala and Adara faced a lot of the Shadow wolves. Nyome hesitated when some came to attack her. Evelina raised her tail up, almost immediately a lot of wolves appeared some with battle scars, some with slick matted fur, some even had mud in their fur. “Where did you get the re-enforcements?” Nyome called over as she did a backflip to jump over a Shadow Wolf, her back legs hit him and made his breath shortened for a few seconds. “They are a part of that place I work for, you know the place where I got the assignment to protect you?” Evelina explained bowling Layhem over. “Oh.” Nyome said charging into a shadow wolf. She opened her mouth and shut her powerful jaws on The Shadow Wolf’s leg, causing it to yelp in pain. Nyome came face-to-face with Nightmare, her fur bristled with fear, he certainly looked more like a nightmare after his curse took over. Nyome looked over her shoulder releasing eye-contacted with Nightmare, she saw Layhem locked on Evelina’s leg. Nyome remembered her own paw, which was still broken and hurt, Nyome seemed to forget about it, where her bone snapped was puffy and inflamed. Nyome rushed forward limping slightly and threw Layhem off Evelina. Evelina nodded grateful; her eyes fell on her paw. “You gotta get of that before the bone punctures through your skin causing a Open Fracture, that can be easily infected.” Evelina said concerned. “And leave you guys fighting for me? No way, I’ll rest After We win.” Nyome said with an emphasis on “After.” Evelina nodded in understanding, but Nyome could still see she was still extremely concerned. Nyome yelped as a Shadow Wolf darted past her it’s tail flicking Nyome’s broken paw. “We gotta retreat Evelina! There is to many! We must regroup!” A wolf called out, she was apart of the organization with Evelina, and they were close friends. Evelina looked around and nodded. “Retreat!” Evelina yelled. Evelina darted into the forest followed by the others; Nyome followed limping. Adara and Anala walked on both sides of her keeping her balanced. They made it to the woods. Firelight growled in frustration and anger; her eyes burned as she turned to look at Nightmare. “Are we just gonna let her get away?” She snarled. Nightmare’s face was calm. “For now, I want her fully healed before we defeat her.” Nightmare said staring into the forest at the bush where Nyome disappeared.
Ch. 16: The Pack Helps
Nyome yelped in pain as the pack Theta and his Iota set the bone in place, The Iota put a strait branch along the broken bone and wrapped some tall grass around it keeping it in place. “Make sure to stay of your paw as much as possible.” The Iota said her eyes shining. “Thank you Starshine.” The Theta said his eyes shone with pride. “Your welcome Shrub.” Starshine said her eyes shining even more. Shrub and Starshine went out the den and nodded at some one who passed by. Nyome was surprised to see Hattie the Beta coming in. “Hello.” She said in greetings. “H-hello.” Nyome said with fear in her voice as she looked behind Hattie expecting Ezequias. “Don’t worry Ezequias, hasn’t come with me.” Hattie said calm. Nyome sighed relieved. “I have decided to help you with your fight with Nightmare, after all he is the biggest problem in the forest, other than Tazar, that is.” Hattie said with a serious face. “Really?” Nyome said her eyes brightening. Hattie nodded. “I’m rounding all my warriors and my Zeta.” Hattie said her face still serious. “Are you…...Alpha now?” Nyome asked awkwardly. “Uh, yeah, Ezequias is now 9 years old, and is moved to an Elder, moving into a den with a few elders, and younger wolves to take care of them.” Hattie said nodding. Nyome looked out the den. A warrior at least 7 years old came into the clearing, he had a scar-ridden-pelt, with almost black fur, and white specks, his eyes where a dark grey. “This is Patton, the Zeta. He has been in many fights and became Zeta when he was 3 almost 4, succeeding Rainier.” Hattie said flicking her tail at the warrior. Patton bowed his head. “It is an honor to meet you.” He said with a rough voice strained from battle. Nyome bowed her head slightly. “Nice to meet you too.” Nyome said fear was slightly shown. Patton looked at Nyome’s broken paw. “What happened?” Patton asked his voice as gentle as it can be. “Layhem broke it, she captured me a bit ago. She broke my paw to try to make sure I couldn’t escape, then I was rescued by some wolves.” Nyome explained. “Ah.” Patton said he was clearly interested. A young wolf about 2 or 3 came in, she was a white and black wolf with soft crystal blue eyes. “Akiva.” Patton said bowing his head in greeting. “Hello, I am Akiva, the youngest of the warriors, but also next in line to be Zeta, you see, Patton is my father.” The young wolf said smiling her blue eyes brightened. “She was the most recent pup me and my mate had, my mate sadly died of an illness this year.” Patton said frowning. Akiva affectionately pressed against her dad trying to comfort him. “Im so sorry.” Nyome said after a long pause after trying to remember her family, failing. “Why what is wrong?” Akiva asked staring at Nyome. Nyome told the story how she was taken away from her family after falling into the river, how she lost much of her memory including, specific things about her family, how she was rescued by Artus, and taken in, made friends with their pup Astrophel, about her adventures with him (Checking to make sure Nelly and Artus weren’t in earshot) about how he was taken by the Alpha pack, and how she was taken by Nightmare’s servant Layhem, how she broke her leg when she was unconscious, how she was in the room were Nightmare was explaining what it looked like, and how Evelina came and rescued her, and finally their escape. After her explanation she took a deep breath in and a deep long breath out. “You got quite a story.” Patton remarked. “I know.” Nyome replied still trying to catch her breath. A wolf with a serious gaze came inside and approached Patton whispering something into Patton’s ear. Patton turned to Akiva and whispered something in her ear, both eyes turned serious. “We gotta go, see you at the battle, in about 2 months.” Akiva said and turned to leave followed by her father. Nyome was glad the pack was going to help. Hattie bowed her head slightly and left. Nyome felt alone and laid on a pile of loose dirt.
Ch. 17: The Start of the Battle
It took about 2 months for Nyome to be fully healed, occasionally Starshine and Shrub would come to check on her, some times Hattie would come. Nyome’s friends Adara and Anala visited almost every day. As Starshine took the things off, she wrapped some grass around it. “You can fight in the battle, but be careful, and make sure the wrap doesn’t fall off.” Starshine said seriously. Shrub eyes shone with pride. The Theta and Iota left the den.
Hattie came in. “We are all ready.” Hattie said beckoning Nyome out. Nyome came out of the den and stood next to her. “Let’s go.” Hattie said beckoning Nyome to follow with her tail. Nyome followed Hattie as they bolted to the forest were the warriors, and the Zeta was. Akiva bowed her head slightly greeting Nyome. Nyome looked into the forest and saw a familiar cloaked figure approaching. Nyome sighed in relieved seeing it was Evelina. The same wolves who were in the first battle following, some were bright eyes in confidence, others had brave faces, some were nervous. Adara and Anala took their places by Nyome. Evelina bowed her head slightly and turned next to the Zeta. They nodded at each other and turned to face their warriors. “Ready? Attack!” They both said turning around and running into the clearing were Nightmare, Layhem, Firelight, and his Shadow Wolf Warriors were waiting. In about a minute all were clashed in battle, The shadow wolves seemed to avoid Nyome. Nyome wondered if Nightmare had something to do about it. Nyome saw Nightmare, he was glaring at her, Firelight was shooting fire at her sisters. Nyome hid in a nearby bush trying to think up attack moves. A Shadow Wolf darted towards a wolf and pounced. The wolf turned around and scratched down its side. Nyome looked around, many Shadow Wolves were dead, some of the warriors were dead too, but not as many. She looked in a direction where 2 wolves were attacking a Shadow Wolf. She realized there where less Shadow Wolves than when they arrived, when they arrived there were about 80, but now it was 20. Nyome turned around face-to-face with Nightmare.
Ch. 18: Fight with Nightmare
Nightmare glared at Nyome and pounced at her; Nyome jumped out of the way. Nyome jumped scratching Nightmare’s side. Nightmare knocked her away with his blood wing. Nyome was forced into a thorn bush. Nyome struggled to get out with scratches from the thorns, some thorns were still stuck in her skin. Nyome’s back paw pad had a deep thorn inside, blood welled around it. Nyome didn’t care about the pain of the thorns, all she cared about was defeating Nightmare. Leaves started to twirl around Nyome, they went up and went separate ways. Nyome’s brown eyes turned golden-brown and glowed. Nyome’s white and brown fur glowed and ruffled, as she rose into the air white wing unfolding. Nyome rushed into Nightmare fast blasting him back and leaving a blood stain. Nyome looked as if she was under water, except there was no water, and she was glowing. Nyome’s ears ruffled as she heard gasps below from her friends. Evelina smiled. Nyome rushed at Nightmare, again and again. Nightmare suddenly burst a wave of energy blasting Nyome away her eyes flickered to normal, and her eyes stopped glowing, Nyome ran into a tree and the white wings turned into separate feathers and disappeared. Nyome weakly got back up. She looked at her recently healed paw, the grass bandage was ripped in some places, and it was fixing to fall off. Nyome whimpered in pain as a Shadow Wolf was flung at her, it running into her paw. Her paw was hurting again being aggravated by fighting. Nyome picked a long grass piece and wrapped it around her paw and made sure it wouldn’t fall off, and it wasn’t to loose yet not too tight either. Nyome’s eyes had a glint of anger and pure hatred at Nightmare. Leaves circled around her again although more than last time. Red, Orange, Brown, purplish, yellow, golden, and some green leaves from the ground went around her making leaf wings, Leaves were enforcing her hurt paw. The thorns in her skin turned colors to red, golden, and yellow. Leaflets formed hornlike 2 figures on her head, Leaves were on her chest to prevent punctures, and wounds on important organs and the heart. She approached Nightmare and rushed into him like last time. Nightmare Was bowled over since he was unexpecting the attack from being confused by Nyome’s partial transformation. Nyome kept on lunging towards him hurting him as much as possible. Adara and Anala turned their heads from their fight with their sister Firelight, just to look at the commotion they gasped in awe when they saw her. Firelight looked where they were staring at and saw Nyome. “Leaves? I can burn them!” Firelight exclaimed and lunged out at Nyome sending flames at her. Nyome dogged them all and lunged at Nightmare. Nightmare winced in pain. Nyome weakened Nightmare immensely. “One more strike and he’ll be dead!” A wolf called to her; he was a warrior who followed Evelina to the fight. Nyome looked at Nightmare and closed her eyes leaves gathered around her, pointed and jagged. Nyome opened her eyes and pointed her tail at Nightmare. The leaves lunged at Nightmare immediately and went into his skin striking his heart, killing him slowly. Nyome approached him. “You will never hurt anyone ever again.” Nyome said then slashed her claw at Nightmare finishing him off. The Shadow Wolves who followed Nightmare looked at his dead body then at each other and knew they were back to exile. Layhem looked at Nightmare and sobbed softly. Nyome rolled her eyes. “He never loved you Layhem, he would never even care for you.” Nyome said looking at her seriously. “How do you know?” Layhem asked pain in her voice. “Curses like that will not let them love, he himself was incapable of love even without the curse.” Nyome said staring at Nightmare’s body. The blood wings disappeared, and his fur slowly turned to normal. Layhem turned her head to the Shadow Wolves, she was in charge of them now, exile or not. “You 2 dig a grave for him and put him inside.” Layhem demanded. Two Shadow wolves looked at her like she was crazy. “Us?” They asked. Layhem looked around. “No, Them,” Layhem answered flinging her tail pointedly at 2 dead Shadow Wolves, “Oh, my gosh, yes you!” Layhem finished and rolled her eyes as the two shadow wolved got up to follow their order. “What will you do know?” Nyome asked changing to normal. “I have no clue, of course I’ll try not to rule the forest, in blood and fear, like he had, I may not rule at all, but we are not leaving this place.” Layhem said looking at the blood smeared entrance of the fortress. Nyome nodded slightly. She just barley dogged a blast of fire that hit were she was a second before. This was far from over she still had to deal with Firelight. “Forgot about me while chattering? You seem do that well.” Firelight sneered. Nyome glared at her.
Ch. 19: The Final Fight
“Of course I haven’t forgotten about you! You are pretty hart to forget about.” Nyome snapped. Adara and Anala took their places by Nyome on either side, their green and blue eyes blazed. Adara was far from being dreamy and distant, she was full into reality. Firelight lunged at Nyome biting her leg. Nyome yelped as Firelight’s teeth found it’s way into the wrap. Adara and Anala pulled Firelight back getting burned a little bit. Evelina jumped to Nyome’s side; her cloak was ripped revealing all of her face even the part that is usually hidden, above her purple eye scarlet blood welled up, on one of her sides she had a long scratch scarlet blood poured out, her cloak was soaked in blood, around her scratch was hers, but others were from Shadow Wolves who came across her, luckily none of her wounds would scar. Firelight turned on her sisters trying to bite them, but Evelina pulled her away by her tail. Firelight barked in anger. Firelight tried to bite Evelina, but Evelina had let go of Firelight’s tail and dashed to Nyome’s side. Firelight snarled again and lunged at Nyome, Nyome jumped out of the way and stifled a laugh as Firelight ran headfirst into a tree. Blind by rage Firelight flung a lot of fire balls towards Nyome most missed, but 1 scorched her side as it passed. Nyome howled in anger, her eyes turned Aqua and glowed. Nyome’s fur turned light blue, and a brown color drowned in blue. Watery wings sprouted out, two watery horns also appeared on the top of her head. Everyone gasped in awe, she was filled with leaves earlier, now she was all watery. Firelight smirked and crouched ready to pounce. Nyome’s aqua eyes were slowly turning bluer, until it was Sky Blue. Nyome looked calm her burn had been healed when she changed form. Firelight pounced at Nyome, but before she landed on her, Nyome turned to a puddle. Firelight landed on the puddle confused. Nyome formed again next to the puddle. The puddle was forming a dome around Firelight. Firelight tried to burst out, but it closed before she could. Firelight made a dome of flame around herself. The water was forced onto it burning it out, then the water evaporated. Firelight glared at Nyome. Adara and Anala came to their friend’s side. “Sisters, why have you betrayed me? And for what? Her.” Firelight growled at her sisters. “Who betrayed who? Firelight, you betrayed us, you tried to kill us, you tried to control our lives, and you think we betrayed you?” Adara demanded. Anala nodded at Adara and glared at her sister Firelight. “We never betrayed you, you chose your side, and you chose wrong!” Anala said eyes flashing. Nyome backed up calmly to let the sisters exchange glances. The 2 looked back at Nyome gratefully. Nyome nodded her welcome. Adara’s and Anala’s fur bristled as they changed their fur seemed like fire flickering, their eyes flared up and lunged at Firelight. Nyome looked at them, she didn’t change back to normal, she would have the finishing blow. A cloud of Smoke, Fire, tooth, and claw appeared in front of Nyome. Nyome crouched ready for her strike. Adara and Anala dragged themselves off Firelight, clumps of her fur was missing, her ear was torn, and her muzzle scratched, her nose was bleeding heavily, but she stayed in fighting stance. Adara was slightly limping, Anala helped her over to Evelina, they were back to normal, their fur no longer bristled like fire, and their eyes were less flared up. “Surrender, or say goodbye, Firelight.” Nyome called over to her enemy. “NEVER!” Firelight snarled and pounced onto Nyome. Nyome stayed that time, when Firelight landed on her she summoned a lot of water and dropped it onto Firelight, holding her in place, the water put Firelight out for good. The ash left over blew away in the wind, never to be seen again. Nyome ran over to Evelina who was licking her side were a deep scratch was. Nyome licked above one of Evelina’s eyes clean. “Thank you.” Evelina muttered tiredly. “Don’t mention it.” Nyome replied. She controlled some water to clean Evelina’s wounds, and the blood of her fur and cloak. Nyome then turned to normal soaked. The water that soaked her reminded her of the time she was in the river, and lost her memories there, she just barely grasped a memory of a blur of brown holding a stick and it braking. Nyome shook the memory away.
Nyome was asleep next to Nelly and Artus, they were concerned when she came back soaked, her paw that had been healed from being broken had been strained in the battle. Nelly had put a small wrap around it to help it from moving. Nelly and Artus were troubled since they were unable to join the fight, and when Nyome turns 1, they would move to the closest elder den. Nyome wondered what her future held and fell asleep.
Ch. 20: Family Reunion
Nyome crawled out the den followed by Nelly and Artus. “Remember go to Sky Pack territory to find your family!” Nelly called over to her as she walked deeper into the woods with Artus. Nyome nodded slightly and looked one more time at her well-known den, it wasn’t exactly hers, but she felt entitled to it. Nyome Bounded over near the boundary. She will miss Adara and Anala, but she had to find her actual family. Nyome felt determined and rushed into Sky Pack Territory. Nyome followed the territory to a small meadow and laid down. A scent oddly familiar reached her nostrils. Nyome jumped up when she sighted a brown wolf strongly scented of Sky Pack. The wolf looked happy with tears in her eyes. When the she-wolf reached her, she looked surprised and happy at the same time. “Nyome!” The wolf exclaimed making Nyome jump. “Who are you?” Nyome asked suddenly frightened looking at the wolf. “It’s me Opal!” The she-wolf answered wagging her tail. “O…. Opal.” Nyome said trying to surge up memories. “I’m your sister, we had another sister, Butterfly, and 4 brothers, Birch, Bear, Beach, and Daniel." Opal said lowering her head. "I'm sorry I forgot certain things after I was swept away," Nyome said Skewing her ears to the side,"2 Old wolves took me in and raised me, and asked if I remembered anything, she said maybe I could find something that would help me remember, can you take me to the den we were raised in?" “Uh, sure.” Opal said, she looked a little disappointed. Nyome followed Opal carefully. When they reached the den Nyome touched it lightly flinching slightly as if expecting the den to collapse. Nyome crawled through with Opal following a little later. Nyome’s eyes fell on an engravement that said N + S BSF (Best Sisters Forever) Nyome touched it and a memory flashed before her.
Opal was out playing with her siblings, while Sylvie and Nyome were out collecting herbs. "We should put an engravement in the den!" Nyome suggested while they were going back. Sylvie nodded and trotted off. Nyome picked up her herbs and followed her older sister. Sylvie put the herbs in the herb pile followed by Nyome. Then they went to the little corner they hung out, they put the engravement on the wall.
Opal looked into Nyome’s eyes, her gaze was unreadable. "I-is Sylvie still alive?" Nyome asked worriedly looking at Opal with fear. Opal nodded. Nyome sighed in relief. As they went out Nyome remembered everything, and some of Opal's memories were recalled. There were several, "Do you remember?" questions as Opal led Nyome to Artemis's den. Nyome was worried. 'What if Sylvie is sick.........or worse DEAD!' Nyome thought with fear. "Ok hide here it has to be a surprise." Opal said helping Nyome hide in some underbrush. Nyome nodded nervously. Nyome heard a chatter in the den, recognizing Opal’s and a few others, although not knowing which was Sylvie’s and which was Artemis’s, Thor’s was easily recognizable. She heard Opal say something but didn’t catch the words. She heard paw steps right behind the bush, Nyome hoped they didn’t hear her heart beating. She heard a female voice laugh, “Yeah, I’ve seen that a million times, Opal.” “No, the thing is inside the bushes.” Nyome heard Opal say. “Ready?” Opal asked through the bush, Nyome just hearing her. The bushes were slid slightly revealing her siblings. Nyome looked at them starry eyes. A sliver and white wolf cried with joy; Nyome knew she was Sylvie. A black wolf with some white was standing next to Opal, Nyome recognized her as Artemis, Nyome spotted a Black wolf with whiteish fur on him on some places, she recognized him as Thor. Sylvie bounded to Nyome and snuggled her. Nyome felt warm with joy of her reunion. They laughed and cried. Nyome thought deeply about were to live. “I’ve decided to live here with you guys.” Nyome said with a smile, although she knew Opal would visit, she would still miss her. Opal waved goodbye with her tail and went into the distance. Nyome crawled into the den and curled up next to Sylvie.
Ch. 21: Mist and Sadness
Nyome woke up and looked out the den, in fear she saw mist, she remembered how Astrophel was taken almost a year ago. Nyome sighed with grief, she still felt bad to this day about what had happened, she wished she could help. Artemis rounded her pups into her tail, Nyome recognized Aspen and Macaroni, she hadn’t gotten very close to the other just yet. Nyome reminded herself that the only female was Haley. Haley slipped out of her mother’s grasp and barked. Nyome hushed her lightly. Haley whimpered as she saw a ghostly figure appear. The white ghostly figure came into the den and headed for Haley. Haley yelped as the ghostly wolf picked her up then turned around and went out the den. Artemis howled in pain. Aspen and Macaroni joined their mom. Nyome whimpered remembering the pain of Astrophel being taken by the Death Pack. Nyome sighed heavily and curled up next to Sylvie. Everyone was sad at Haley being taken, she was a sweet pup, although much like her father, and looked much like her mother. Nyome wondered what her mother Stardust would be doing if she were still alive. Nyome drifted to sleep and dreamed.
Ch. 22: Tornado
Nyome woke and looked at the dark clouds. Sylvie looked worried. “The clouds were just a creamy white, with blue skies and the sun.” Sylvie explained. Nyome was worried from the atmosphere of the others; they were all worried. Nyome looked back out the den he saw a wall cloud and knew something that she wishes it wasn’t. Rain pattered against the den heavily. The wall cloud extended revealing a large funnel reaching to the ground. Nyome heard thunder and jumped in fear. The last storm she had been in was when she was swept away from her family. Nyome wished her mother was here, even though she had Artemis, Thor, Artemis’s mate Clay, Aspen, Macaroni, and Sylvie. Nyome went closer to Sylvie pressing against her after a Thunder bolt was nearby. The whirling of the funnel grew closer, but not close enough to concern them. Sylvie led them to the furthest corner in case the tornado got closer, luckily it didn’t, and it soon dissipated. Sylvie sighed relieved when the rain pattered softer. Thunder was still heard, although further away now. Nyome looked back out the den and knew it would rain the rest of the day. Thor slipped out the den to scout. Aspen and Macaroni sat next to Nyome. “Had any storms like that? In Junction Pack?” Macaroni asked curiously. Nyome closed her eyes and shook her head. She wondered if he was either asking if it was better, or this was a competition for live in the pack, but Macaroni didn’t ask for competitions, only questions, some with no answers, Aspen was another story he did everything, and asked everything in competition, Like Aspen boasts to Macaroni that he weighs more, and he’s little more than a runt. Nyome shook the thought away. She licked her paws which were a little dirty. One of her paws looked grey with dust which reminded her of Astrophel, her heart struck with grief. Nyome wistfully looked out the den half expecting Astrophel to come it, half expecting him not to. Nyome sighed heavily and turned to look at Sylvie. Sylvie was having a conversation with Artemis. Clay Artemis’s mate went out of the den to join Thor on his scouting. Clay just hoped Thor was still close by. Nyome curled up and fell asleep listening to the soft pattering of rain.
Ch. 23: The Magic Box
Nyome woke up to the sun shining through. The sky was blue with creamy cirrus clouds in the sky. Nyome yawned and stretched shaking her head as she got up. Nyome scrambled out the den and laid down sunbathing. Nyome narrowed her eyes against the brightness of the sun, it was very early. A few minutes later Sylvie scrambled out the den her heart thumping, it started going normally when she saw Nyome. “Thank goodness.” Sylvie sighed. Nyome stood up to look at her sister. “We are running out of some medicinal herbs; would you like to come with me to get more?” Sylvie asked her ear twitching slightly. Nyome nodded and went to her side. Sylvie and Nyome padded through the forest looking for herbs. Nyome spotted some Lupine and picked it; the juice of the leaves was good for Nausea and inflammation. Nyome looked at her paw that had been broken a while ago, Nelly had used Lupine to treat it. Nyome flooded her mouth with the leaves. Sylvie spotted some Juniper berries and collected them. They bounded back to the den and but the berries and leaves in separate places. Sylvie went out to see if she could find some rosemary and basil. Nyome went to go help Sylvie after she put them all in neat piles out of reach from Aspen and Macaroni. Nyome spotted some tall grass, good for holding wounds together, and it was close to the den, so she could come to it any time. Nyome followed Sylvie’s scent and spotted a clump of rosemary. Nyome collected the rosemary and went to find Sylvie who had a clump of basil in her mouth. Sylvie nodded and they headed back to the den and put the rosemary and basil in separate piles. Nyome started licking her chest fur to clean herb dust off. Sylvie licked her paws clean from some dirt and herb dust. A while later Opal appeared in the den. Sylvie looked over her shoulder worriedly looking at Opal. Macaroni’s eyes sparkled as he saw Opal. They settled down and started to talk about news. “I found this magical box, but it broke.” Opal said pawing the “Magical Box” over at Nyome. Nyome gasped looking at it, it still scented strongly of humans, it also had the scent of Opal since she had been caring it around. As Opal got up Artemis got in her way. Opal, after Haley was taken, Macaroni wasn't the same, and when he saw you, he cheered up, if you don't mind will you take him with you for a bit, or visit regularly?" Artemis asked concerned. "I will try to visit regularly.” Opal promised as she was leaving. Opal crawled out the den. Nyome listened to Opal’s paw steps receding into the distance. Nyome looked at the “Magic Box” with great interest. She put it next to the herbs that were out of reach from the pups. Clay and Thor came back from their scouting carrying two dead newborn elk. “We had already eaten some of an adult elk that we had killed, these were her calves.” Clay explained. Nyome ate one of the elk with Aspen and Macaroni till they finished it, all that was left was bony cartilage. Artemis and Sylvie dug into the other elk and let Aspen, Macaroni, and Nyome have a few bites, then the remains were just bloody cartilage. Nyome burped a little bit. “Excuse me.” Nyome said flushing in embarrassment.
Ch. 24: Unexpected Visitor, and Illness (Pt. 1)
Nyome woke up the sky was pretty clear only a few creamy cirrus clouds. Nyome yawned and stretched then shook her head flailing her ears around. Nyome looked at the full herb piled filled with herbs they’ll need if a fight came along, or sickness. Nyome pawed the ground in boredom as Thor and Clay went out to scout and hunt. Macaroni and Aspen play fight. “You’ll never take over Sky Pack Territory, Ezequias.” Macaroni said in a defiant tone. Aspen growled playfully. “I will take it over, and you’ll be the first to die.” Aspen growled. ‘He’s got Ezequias’s personality perfectly.’ Nyome thought and shivered. “You know Ezequias is no longer Alpha right?” Nyome asked in a soft tone. “Really? He was such a strong leader.” Aspen said getting off of Macaroni. “Well, who is the new Alpha?” Macaroni asked getting up. “Hattie, who was Beta, her mate who was male Beta was Alaric, he is now male Alpha.” Nyome answered. “All right then I’m Alaric, and I’m going to take over Sky Pack territory.” Aspen said pouncing on his brother. Nyome shook her head and smiled. Nyome scented 3 wolves approaching, she sighed relieved recognizing Sky Pack Scent, and Opal’s scent. Nyome went out the den to greet her. Nyome looked at a wolf she didn’t recognize, she was a brown wolf, who looked much like Maple. The pup had green eyes. Macaroni met Opal with stary eyes. “Hazel, nice to meet you.” Nyome whispered to the other wolf that was with Opal, her right ear was flapped, and she scratches scared on her face. Macaroni looked worriedly at her. “We had a little fight with Oxbow.” Nyome heard Hazel whisper to Macaroni. “I wanna hear the story!” Macaroni whispered in a hushed tone. “Brownie could tell you all about it.” Hazel said softly. “Ok.” Macaroni whispered and scrambled into the den. Opal, Hazel, Brownie, and Nyome scrambled in after him inside. “What’s up?” Artemis asked tilting her head after she spotted Opal. The sat down. “Maple, Tree, and Mage are sick, Me, Hazel, and Brownie, are the only ones who are healthy, and Maple was hoping you could watch Brownie, since me and Hazel will be busy trying to heal the sick.” Opal said concern slipping into her voice. “Of course, we’ll help you by watching Brownie.” Artemis said nodding. “And if you need any help, me and Nyome will help you.” Sylvie offered. Nyome nodded her head agreeing to Sylvie’s offer. “Ok.” Opal said nodding her head. “Ok come on we have to go, we left the sick alone, Maple could be very weak right now.” Hazel said and bounded to the entrance to the den and scrambled out. Opal bounded over to the entrance. “Goodbye, see you later.” Opal said softly and disappeared out the den. Aspen had a smug smile as he looked at Brownie with his eyes narrowed. “Hey, Brownie.” Aspen called to her. “Yes?” Brownie asked her eyes narrowed in suspicion. “I’m 3 months older than you!” Aspen teased and stuck out his tongue. “That only makes you dumber.” Brownie said holding her head high in pride. “Aspen, suck it up.” Macaroni said whacking Aspen with his tail. Aspen gasped in surprise. Brownie looked at Macaroni. “Macaroni, you where in my den before I was born, correct?” Brownie asked curiosity flooding her eyes. “Uh, yes, almost exactly 3 months ago, I had to go back here when you were born, when Ginger…. when Caleb….” Macaroni said pain in his eyes. Aspen pressed against his brother and licked his ear affectionately and comfortably his eyes covered with a thick sheet of pain. “I understand the pain of losing siblings, I lost Shrub to ‘The Death Pack.’” Brownie said a veil of fresh grief filled her eyes as she recalled the memory. Nyome looked the pups over then approached them. “It is painful to lose family….” Nyome begun, “or friends.” She finished after a long pause grief struck her eyes suddenly, unbearable. Brownie came over and cuddled her to comfort her. ‘So much like her mother, yet not so much, or is she?’ Nyome thought to herself. Nyome had seen Maple once when she visited there shortly after she arrived to see if there was any herbs to get, all the pups were somewhere else with Opal and Hazel, she had gotten some herbs but not a lot, since they couldn’t spare a lot of herbs. Nyome curled up besides Brownie. Macaroni laid next to Brownie, Aspen laid by his father Clay, Clay laid by his mate Artemis, and Artemis laid by her brother Thor. They all fell asleep from the long day.
Ch. 24: Unexpected Visitor, and Illness (Pt. 2)
About two days after Brownie had arrived Opal came to get Nyome and Sylvie. Sylvie and Nyome rushed after Opal to Maple’s den, where Hazel was treating a grey/silver wolf with pale blue eyes. Nyome learned that he was Tree. There was a silvery-grey wolf with dark brown round his eyes and splotches on his coat, Nyome learned that he was Mage. Maple lay with her legs splayed out. When Nyome went close to any of the 3 a burst of heat hit her, they were burning up with a fever. ‘If only we had some feverfew.’ Nyome thought. Nyome sighed and used some basil instead of Feverfew, basil helps fever as well, but not as well as feverfew. Nyome got a basil leaf and gave it to Mage who felt the worse. “Chew it.” Nyome said nudging it over to him. Mage grabbed it with his mouth, he chewed it. “Now swallow the juice, not the leaf, the leaf wouldn’t do any harm, but swallowing a whole leaf can give a bellyache. “I had one already.” Mage said spitting out the leftover leaves from the pulp, swallowing the juice. Nyome picked the basil leaves lightly and dug it outside. Nyome gave some poppy seeds to Mage to help him sleep. Mage licked 3 of them up, curled up and fell asleep. Nyome gave basil to Tree; he heard what she had said to Mage. Nyome gave some poppy seeds to him as well to help him sleep. Nyome gave a basil leaf to Maple as well and put some poppy seeds near her. Maple had a coughing fit, then chewed the basil leaf spitting out the leaves after swallowing the juice. Maple then licked up the poppy seeds and fell asleep. Nyome, Hazel, and Sylvie sat near each other exhausted and curled up falling asleep.
Day 2 of their stay Tree’s health fell drastically Hazel gave him as much medical attention she could. Nyome and Sylvie were out looking for feverfew. Nyome and Sylvie came back in with basil leaves and saw Hazel sobbing. “We couldn’t find any feverfew, but we have more basil leaves.” Sylvie said placing them down. “It’s too late, I did all I could, he’s gonna die in an hour.” Hazel sobbed. Nyome looked at the poor bundle. The den had a stench of fever. Nyome laid next to Tree licking between his ears. “Am I gonna die?” He asked hoarsely and weakly. “Yes, I’m sorry we did all we could, but without feverfew you will all die.” Nyome said her voice shaking. Opal slipped into the den and licked Tree’s ear. Tree started to wheeze and went limp, the heat that flowed from him stopped abruptly. Nyome sobbed slightly and leaned to his ear. “You were so young, we are so sorry.” Nyome whispered as calm as possible. Opal, Nyome, Sylvie, and Hazel sat around him in a vigil, Sky Pack does this when a member of the den has died, and they want to see the spirit, so they know that they left their body and know where to go.
Ch. 24: Unexpected Visitor, and Illness (Pt. 3)
The 3rd day of their visit they dug Tree’s body and sat around it for a little bit, they came back in when Mage Howled in pain, his illness had gotten worse. They gave him basil, all day, but he still died. They were worried that Maple will also die, and gave her the rest of their attention. Nyome curled up near the others and dreamed.
Butterfly her sister, a White wolf with black swirls and orange and red spots and almost black eyes sat in front of her. “Nyome.” She said turning around. “Yes?” Nyome asked. “Feverfew…..you must remember where this is or Maple will die….remember this sight, the old human den a little thing called a garden was made near a few which grows feverfew and Catnip, good for bad coughs, you must collect both to save Maple’s live.” Butterfly said her eyes looked clouded with thought and kindness. Nyome looked around, she recognized where she was, she was in Junction pack territory were about 4 or 5 old rotting human dens were, she saw the garden she was talking about. “Of course! This is where I saw it.” Nyome said and turned to thank Butterfly who was fading, and so was the vision. “Remember.” Nyome heard Butterfly say as she was left in darkness.
Nyome woke on her 4th day and slipped out of the den without telling the others where she was heading. Nyome bounded over to the Junction border, jumping over fallen trees, stumbled over rocks. She ran past 5 Bison. The Bison didn’t seem to care, as long as she left them alone, they’d be fine. Nyome Followed the boundary to the old human dens. Nyome crossed and was careful to keep quiet to go over to the dens. Nyome carefully picked up Feverfew leaves as well and Catnip. She heard wolves nearby. Nyome stuffed her mouths with the herbs, the Catnip tastes delicious on her tongue. Nyome swiftly left the territory before the wolves reached her. Nyome bounded over to the den careful not to drop any leaves, from either plant. Nyome finally stumbled in the den and dropped the leaves. “Where did you find these!” Sylvie exclaimed glancing at the catnip and Feverfew. “Never mind where I found it!” Nyome snapped. “Just what we need to save Maple!” Hazel exclaimed mixing Feverfew and Catnip into a Polyjuice and fed it to Maple. Maple drank it obediently and laid down. Opal came into the den after scouting the area. “You found some?” Opal asked tiredly but excited. Nyome nodded as she was giving Maple some poppy seeds to go asleep. “Brownie may come back now, Opal will you bring her back tomorrow? Tell her nothing about the deaths.” Hazel said as she was curling up. Opal nodded and curled up nearby. Nyome lay down near Maple and fell asleep her last thought was, ‘Thank you Butterfly.’ She pictured Butterfly nodding her welcome and drifted off to sleep.
Nyome got up and crawled out the den waiting for Sylvie and Opal to come out. Opal was going to go to Artemis’s den to fetch Brownie, and Sylvie was going to the den to stay with Nyome and help Artemis raise her pups. Opal soon scrambled out of the den grooming her fur that was matted from lack of sleep and worry, she didn’t want anyone at Artemis’s den to see her like that. Opal tried to shake the gloom out of her eyes but didn’t succeed. Opal looked over at where they had dug Mage and Tree and sighed heavily. Sylvie soon came out carrying some catnip and feverfew for in case Aspen, Macaroni, or any others get sick. They went on their way going to Artemis’s house. Nyome stumbled over rocks tiredly and yawned. Nyome just then noticed how matted her fur was, and started to groom it stopping. Sylvie had already groomed her fur and stayed near Nyome waiting for her to finish before they carried on. After she was done, Nyome bounded over to Opal to catch up. Sylvie bounded beside them, then they finally arrived at Artemis’s den. “Thank dog we are back.” Sylvie breathed and crawled into the den after Nyome and Opal. “Opal!” Brownie and Macaroni exclaimed and bounded over to them. Aspen greeted Opal less enthusiastically. Nyome rolled her eyes; Aspen never had a spot for anyone. ‘How would he ever get a mate? He is far to unaffectionate unlike Macaroni who is such a affectionate little furball.’ Nyome thought and looked at Brownie than Macaroni, these two had some kind of bond, affection was clearly seen in both their eyes. “Bye Macaroni.” She said a little sadness crept into her eyes. “Bye Brownie.” Macaroni said affectionately. “Bye Aspen.” Brownie scoffed. “Bye Brownie.” Aspen said something flashed in his eyes, could it be love? Affection? Hatred? Aspen was so hard to figure out. Brownie left the den with Opal. Nyome listened as the paw steps receded. “Thank goodness that’s over.” Aspen said, but Nyome knew he didn’t mean it. Macaroni glared at Aspen. Aspen glared back at him jealousy flooded his eyes. ‘So, he does love Brownie, but Brownie likes Macaroni.’ Nyome thought. Aspen laid down in the corner. Nyome reluctantly patted over to him. “Hey Aspen?” Nyome asked sitting by him. “What?” He huffed. “Do you like Brownie?” Nyome asked quietly. “Is it that obvious?” Aspen asked embarrassed. “No, I am just a good observer. You don’t have to be embarrassed; it is normal to feel for others.” Nyome said trying to cheer him up, but all she was doing was bringing herself down. “But Macaroni likes her too! And she likes him back…….and she despises me.” Aspen said sadness flooded her eyes. “Maybe it’s because you are never affectionate!” Nyome snapped surprising Aspen. “What do you mean?” Aspen asked surprise still in his eyes. “You only ever teased her! You never acted kind to her, you never told her how you feel!” Nyome choaked out. Aspen started to think she wasn’t just talking about him. “What’s wrong?” Aspen asked flattening her ears. “Never mind what’s wrong! As long as you find out this problem there will be problems!” Nyome snapped. “But Brownie will never love me!” Aspen said looking at his brother who was asleep. “Well, there will always be another one to love.” A soft voice was heard behind Nyome. “Mom?” Aspen asked flushing in embarrassed. “Aspen, this has happened to me, before Clay was in my live I ment a male, I loved him, but he didn’t love me, luckily I moved on, and you should too, when you are 2 you may leave and find a mate of your own.” Artemis said softly. Aspen nodded and fell asleep.
Months left and after winter Brownie came to live with them, Artemis had 4 pups, 2 male 2 female, the males were Juno and Claw, and the females where Martha and Alasa. Opal soon came to visit then left on a journey with Maple and Hazel to lift the curse of “The Death Pack.”
Ch. 25: Reunion
Opal had arrived a few weeks ago and was staying with Maple and Hazel in Maple’s old den they would stay until the end of the month then they shall leave to go to Amethyst Mountain, then to Lost River then they would be back to stay.. Brownie and Macaroni continued to stay affectionate, and Aspen tried to stay away from her, trying to hide his feelings from her. Nyome felt bad for him, after all it had been a few weeks since Opal, Hazel, and Maple had rose the curse, and she saw no sign of Astrophel. Nyome sighed frustrated and laid down. Aspen awkwardly approached her and sighed. “Uh, I don’t know how to do this……. but you’re ok……um….” Aspen said trying to cheer her up. “Aspen, I know what you’re trying to do, but no one can stop how I feel.” Nyome said grief clouding her eyes. “Well, what in dog’s name is wrong?” Aspen asked. “Oh…. nothing.” Nyome sighed looking out the den. “Something is wrong, tell me please.” Aspen said sitting down with his ears flat. “Oh, all right.” Nyome said getting comfortable. “You see when I was missing I was raised by the wolves I told you about…..but I never mentioned their son Astrophel, we grew close, I started to love him, but I knew I should just hide it, after all he was to be taken by ‘The Death Pack,’ I was hoping to see him now that Opal had risen the curse….but I’ve seen no sign of him.” Nyome sighed. “Oh….that’s deep.” Aspen said awkwardly. Nyome sighed again. “Well like mom told me their will be o-” Aspen was saying until he heard his farther. “Who are you?” They heard Clay demand at the opening of the den. Nyome heard a murmured answered, sort of familiar. A familiar scent hit her nostrils; one she hadn’t smelled for a while. Clay came over to Nyome with a muddy and dusty figure following. “Nyome!” He exclaimed his green eyes widen in happiness, and something else. Nyome squinted her eyes trying to look beneath the mud. “I’m sorry he insisted on seeing you.” Clay almost growled glaring at the muddy wolf. “Well, I was hoping my old friend was going to be glad to see me!” The muddy wolf growled at him. “Wait!” Aspen said slipping next to Nyome suddenly. Nyome took the muddy figure’s scent in, the scent was familiar, the eyes were familiar, and so was his voice. “Could you be Astrophel? The one Nyome had been waiting for?” Aspen demanded touching his tail to Nyome to help her feel alright. Nyome blinked her eyes, ‘Of course! He’s Astrophel!’ Nyome thought eyes brimming with tears. “I don’t know, you tell me.” The muddy figure replied to Aspen but looking at Nyome. “Oh! You are Astrophel! But why are you so muddy!” Nyome asked looking at Astrophel’s muddy fur. “I kept falling in mud.” Astrophel murmured embarrassed. “As long as you’re here.” Nyome said lovingly and rubbed her face lovingly on Astrophel getting mud on her fur. “First thing is first; you must clean your fur.” Nyome said with laughing in her eyes. Astrophel smiled.
