Bonny Sailor don't ye venture on no British man-o'-war."

"Oh, Susan, lovely Susan, the truth to you I'll tell:
The British flag insulted is; Old England knows it well.
It may be hell and a stormy ride, but like a jolly tar
I'll face the Frogs and Spaniards on that British man-o'-war.”

The King decreed a bounty, bag-fulls of shillings bright
I'd make less bread here at home than I'd earn in this fight
With wealth I'd return to you my love, funds for your new store,
I'd claim my cut from the captured prize, on that British man-o'-war.

Young sailor took his handkerchief and cut it clean in two,
Said he, “One half you keep for me; the same I'll do for you.
Though the bullets may surround me love, and cannon loudly roar,
I'll fight for fame and Susan on that British man-o'-war.”

“Oh, Susan, lovely Susan, the time will quickly pass,
Let's go down to the ferry house and share a parting glass.
For my shipmates they are waiting for me, to row me from the shore."
