The Batter

A cold and uncaring man with a mission to purify the world. The Batter from OFF, an RPG Maker game by Mortis Ghost.

Assisted by his three ring-shaped Add-Ons, the Batter has access to a wide variety of moves and buffs, on top of the range provided by his bat.



The key to the Batter's moveset are his three Add-Ons, Alpha, Omega, and Epsilon. They each have different effects when used.

Fspecial throws out your currently-selected Add-On. While you can't use it again until it returns, inputting Fspecial (or Dspecial) again while it is out will command it to attack! Each one has different properties.

• Alpha has average speed, but boasts high damage and knockback. It attacks with a single strong burst that sends the opponent upwards and can KO them.
  
• Omega is very fast, but weak. It attacks with multiple hits to keep the opponent locked in place.
  
• Epsilon travels very slowly, but is able to hit opponents for longer because of that. Its attack is the slowest, a large blast that launches opponents away.

Nspecial is Homerun, a strong bat swing which gets stronger the longer you hold it. Unique from many charge moves, however, it is actually strongest right before max charge. Indicated by a sound effect and flash, if you release the special button right before he charges fully, the Batter will release a much stronger attack. Time your swing correctly to really knock opponents out of the park. It can also hit Add-Ons thrown out by Fspecial, sending them flying away before returning to you. Aim up or down to angle their trajectory. All 3 have the same effects when hit by this.

Uspecial causes the Batter to rise, assisted by his Add-Ons. It is a simple recovery, and can be steered left or right, and cancelled early by pressing the dodge button. If you make contact with a placed Add-On during this move, it will empower the Batter even further, and cause him to rise much higher. All 3 have the same effects when doing this.

Dspecial does two important things. Tapping it cycles between your three Add-Ons, changing which one you will throw with Fspecial. If you hold Dspecial instead, the Batter will activate whichever Add-On is currently selected, causing it to float behind him and temporarily empower him with a unique buff:

• Alpha increases the damage and knockback of all melee attacks.
  
• Omega increases how fast you move horizontally.
  
• Epsilon increases the size of all bat moves.

Additionally, using Nspecial or Uspecial while a buff is active will consume it to instantly get the Add-On-strengthened version, causing Nspecial to send it flying as a projectile and Uspecial to rise faster with it. However, using any of your specials (including throwing it with Fspecial or switching off with tap Dspecial) will instantly end the buff's duration and put that Add-On on cooldown. It will be unusable for Fspecial and Dspecial for that time.
