Por Jäger
The aim of this guide is to provide helpful tips to players of all skill levels, not just casual.
as a fairly seasoned player of all 3 WoA games, I felt like adding more obscure tips would help out too! (See Advanced Tips)
Please comment any additional tips, exploits or secrets which I could add to the guide!

Basic Tips
For Reference:
SA = Silent Assassin Rating
SO = Suit Only Rating
LP = Lethal Poison
EP = Emetic Poison
SP = Sedative Poison

Before following any other tips. Turn on the SA HUD in the Pause Menu under Options>Gameplay>HUD.
This is a very handy feature that will show you a visible icon to represent if you are eligible for a sexy SA Rating. Pic below:

  • Save often, ESPECIALLY before taking down a target or doing potentially illegal actions. Even if you are unsure if the next room is a trespassing area, save just in case!

  • When playing a map for the first time, be sure to follow the target around, learn their path and what potential hazards they walk past/ under. Do they eat/ drink? Do they walk under a large droppable object? Do they pass by any bathrooms? How many bodyguards do they have? Do they meet with other targets? Try to answer all of these tactical questions while following them. Do not hesitate to save often incase you enter a trespassing zone by mistake while following them!

  • Grab EVERYTHING, 47 has bottomless pockets, so grab everything you can fit in there. However...

  • Some items will be too big to store such as a propane flask or a baseball bat. Use common sense and if you are unsure, just press the holster button and if nothing happens, you cant hide it in your pocket. You can get around this issue by bringing a briefcase along with you.

  • Use subtitles to hear things that might otherwise be muffled or spoken over. This might provide valuable info about the target(s) that you might not have discovered elsewhere.

  • Tech Crew/Event staff/Mechanic Disguises allow you to sabotage electrical equipment (eg. turning off power, puncturing oil drums and creating very unsafe wire circuits lol) without arousing suspicion.

  • The Chef/Cook/Waiter/Bartender disguise allows you to poison food in front of npcs without arousing suspicion.

  • Poisons in Hitman 3 work like this:
    1. LP Vial or Syringe - Kills target once injected or ingested (Poison Kill = Accident Kill)

    2. EP Vial or Syringe - Makes target ill and makes their AI seek out the
      nearest Toilet stall to throw up. If you drown them while their are emptying their guts, it will count as an accident kill.

    3. Sieker-1 Emetic Dart Pistol / EP - Does the same thing from above, but acts as a projectile, so can be fired from a distance at the intended target.
      (Keep in mind that the dart has a large amount of "Bullet drop" to account for)

    4. SP Vial - Sedates target until they are woken up by a guard or killed by you. If a sedated body is found, it will not count against you SA rating. This is more useful against troublesome bodyguards than targets in my experience.

    5. Kalmer 1 Tranq Gun/ SP - Does the same as above, but from range.

  • You can follow guards or other npcs through otherwise locked doors, just keep in mind that the other side of that door is most likely a trespassing area or even worse, a hostile area! (Guards will shoot on sight.) This is a great tactic if you dont have a lockpick or keycard, however be aware of other npcs around you, not just the one you are following..

  • If you knock an npc out and their body is found by another npc, they wil be woken up. If they saw you prior to being knocked out, they will alert the closest guard. If they didnt see you, you will not be pursued BUT you will have lost your SA rating from their body being found.

  • If you get recorded by a camera during a level, you can still retain SA rating by destroying the evidence at a security station. (You will almost always need a guard outfit to enter these.). Alternatively, you can shoot the CCTV Recording Device to erase it from a distance.

  • You can trigger a target lockdown by shooting anyway near the target at least twice to alert them. This will change their AI state and make them path towards their "safe zone" within the map. Once they reach their safe zone, they will stay there for around 30 seconds until guards have finished investigating the nearby area. This can be useful in a few scenarios where you want the target to take a specific path and pass by potential killzones like an oil drum or chandelier.

  • Nearly every map in the game will have a high up vantage point where you can view the majority of the map from. The reason for this is that players can use a sniper effectively to scope out the level and (hopefully) take out their target(s). Even if you dont have access to a sniper, ascending to the map's best viewing area is a good idea. You might see something you hadn't even noticed before!

  • The Wrench, Scewdriver and the crowbar are required to perform certain sabotage actions such a loosening valves and exposing wiring. So if you see any of these 3 items, pick them up!

  • Briefcases have a unique ability in the game. Apart from being a boring non-lethal melee option, you can also store large items inside of them! Snipers, Shotguns, Swords and even a baseball bat will fit inside. They are not illegal to carry around with you so are the best way of getting illegal items across the map without trouble!

  • Mission stories basically are the game's way of showing off the location to you. You will explore the majority of the map itself through following them. This is great for players new to the map as you will learn a large amount while progressing through the mission stories.

  • Smuggled Item Location are incredibly useful and basically let you bring in one additional item or weapon with you. The only downside is that you have to locate its whereabouts on the map before you can use it. However this is a great way to bring Long guns into missions with you WITHOUT the briefcase. There are two types:
    Hidden Stache = Smaller items like pistols, gadgets and explosives.
    Agency Pickup = Basically any item, including Rifles and shotguns. This is the better option of the two, though they are normally in harder to reach locations.
Advanced Tips
  • Shoot enemies in the leg to quickly down them for an easy KO or kill (They have to be facing away from you, otherwise you will lose SA rating)

  • You can use coins to lure npcs to ledges, holes, puddles, under Chandeliers/ Signs/ Speakers/ Crates/ Lights, and Oil drums. You can use other items, but coins are the best for creating "trails" for the NPC to follow.

  • Remote Breaching Charges, Fire extinguishers and Propane tanks can open key locked doors (NOT keycard doors).
    They are also extremely useful for setting up accident kills. Fire extinguishers will merely knock out npcs and are useless, but Propane tanks will blow up from 1-2 pistol shots and any targets killed by this explosion will not lose you your SA rating!

  • Bump into any bodyguards a target might have, to increase the distance between them. This is useful for setting up kills and/or isolating targets.

  • Panicking NPCs changes their AI state, so they will not care if you are trespassing and/ or holding illegal items.

  • Peekaboo Technique is a very useful trick that lets you lure a guard or npc to you without using any items. You will need to be in a Trespassing or hostile area first and then let yourself almost be seen by your intended npc/ target. When the detection bar (Yellow arrow thing) is filled to around 90%, the npc will investigate where they last saw you. This is a great way to isolate guards out of a certain area in order to take their disguise.

  • If an NPC is about to find a targets body and you dont have enough time to hide the body, you can bump the npc or lure them away with coins. They have to be looking away from you in order for the coin distraction to work though. This can buy you valuable time to hide the target's body or lure the npc somewhere where you can safely knock them out!

  • If a target spots you and doesnt tell anyone nearby, you can still kill them and retain your SA rating

  • Using coins will lure npcs from one coin to the next if you string them apart. placing them about 2 metres apart on the ground, just make sure that only the intended NPC will find them first. Otherwise random npcs will start picking them up too.

  • You can seperate a bodyguard from a target by leaving an illegal items like a gun or explosive device on the ground in their path. The bodygurd will then take it to the nearest security area. This can buy you time to eliminate the target. Note that this will only work if the target has ONE bodyguard.

  • To smuggle illegal items through frisk zones, insert them into a briefcase and then place the briefcase on the ground prior to getting frisked, then once you have been frisked you can just pick up the briefcase again! Amazing logic lol.

  • You can blow open locked door with any guns that are not semi-auto silenced pistols. A great gun to use for opening key locked doors is the Dax X2 Covert (Looks like an silenced UZI)
  • If an NPC is Tranquilised and then found by another NPC, your SA rating will NOT be affected. This is great for disposing of problems npcs non-lethally. (Especially Bodyguards and npc that do not leave certain areas)

  • EP gas and SP Gas will affect through walls and doors. However the radius isnt very large so keep that in mind.

  • You can skip the briefcase unpacking animation by first dropping the briefcase, then crouching and retrieving the item at the same time. Then uncrouch and Voila!

  • You can safely incapacitate NPCs and/or Targets without ruining your silent assassin rating by using the following methods:
    - Placing a Banana on the ground and having someone walk onto it (You can place Items with CAPSLOCK)
    - Kalmer 1 Tranquiliser (Projectile SP)
    - Sedative Syringe (Injected SP)
    - Sedative Vial (Ingested SP)
    - Exploding Fire Extinguisher
    - Medium proximity to an environmental explosion such as a propane tank. (Being too close will kill them obviously). A good example of this is dropping a propane tank down the chimney shaft in Sapienza to kill Silvio or Francesca whilst also knocking out any guards that are behind them. (I am not sure on the exact lethal to non-lethal radius of environmental explosions.)

  • If an NPC is carrying an item you need like a key, Mission Intel or a weapon. You can bypass the lengthy subdue animation and simply shoot them with a Tranquiliser Dart, they will instantly drop whatever Items they have while they are doing their collapsing animation! This saves time and also wont ruin your SA rating if their body is found.

  • You can change which bathroom a sick NPC/ Target will path to by poisoning a different NPC before them (EP Syringe, EP Gas or Sieker1). This NPC will path to the closest bathroom, leaving your target to travel to the next closest bathroom. This is extremely useful if the closest bathroom is in a bad area or is frequently entered by random npcs.
    (The Censor/ Serial Killer Elusive Target is made very simple by using this trick!)

  • You can safely kill Targets with loud weapons if you are separated from NPCs via 2 CLOSED DOORS. If only one closed door stands between you and npcs, they will very likely hear you shooting and investigate the noise. This is extremely useful for escalation or freelancer objective which require you to kill targets with a loud gun.
Best Disguise(s) for each map
A general rule for finding the "best" outfit in a mission. It is most likely the Security guard's disguise or that level's equivalent. Always beware of enforcers!
(NPCs with white dots above their heads, they can see through your disguise)

No outfit is invisible, no tactic is ensured.
Always plan for the unexpected!

Blunt items (crowbars, wrenches, etc) have helped me take down targets basically back to back from each other (like the two scientists across from the bathroom near the helipad in Hokkaido). Choking someone out makes a surprising amount of noise compared to a solid "KUNK!" from a pipe.
Also, thrown items will always seek their target - so as long as you have the target lock, it's a confirmed KO/kill.

@Lady Neravin I have changed the guide with your correction. I added a new section in advanced Tips that mentions "safe" knockout methods. :MKIII:

"Bonus tip: The Tranq Gun is the only way to knock someone out without the risk of your SA rating being affected!" Isn't any accident knockout good for this? Like fire extinguisher explosions and placed bananas and stuff?

I saved this for future use!!

Its also worth noting that the inside of the Bank vault itself is a Hostile/ Trespassing area for ANY disguise.

The best disguise for New York isn't the Security Guard, it's the High Security Guard, since they have access to the targets room and the vault
