Lures and baits
By Rune and 1 collaborators
On version 1.0.3 lure and jighead type is irelevant, all that matter is hook size and to use proper fishing style, so I am moving that info from each fish into fishing style. If you are feeling like some lure doesn't work well like others, double check if you are using correct fishing style and if yes, you are just unlucky. Float fishing bait matter though, so that is kept for each fish and will be tested too, but it sometimes take over 5 mins to get a single catch, so those will take some time.
If you are on active fishing challenge even the hook size doesn't matter for the challenge fish and rank. You can get diamond on hook size which won't catch gold at all and silver rarely. Or it was 1 in 1000 cast, which is irelevant information anyway.
Previous data - catches as text are corupted because of that. So new data based on testing after finishing all those challenges.
So new data after finishing all chalenges are recorded in table to also show the chances of catching the described rank. As saying you can catch gold, while the gold was 1 in 30 is not correct way to show the information too.

Fishing styles
Introduction to fishing styles
When you are using Lure spinning rig or Jighead spiinning rig, you will be using fishing styles. To be able to effectively use those fishing styles you need to understand what are the cycles and how do they work for each fishing style.

What is cycle
In bottom right corner you have 4 icons of fishing style and above them, there is a yellow bar that keeps on filling itself no matter what you do.
Start of the cycle
End of the cycle
The time between the bar gets from 0% to 100% is a cycle.

Applying cycles to fishing styles
There are 5 fishing styles. And 2 cycle set. A single cycle fishing style, which means that the current cycle has no connection to the other cycles. And a paired cycle fishing style, which means there is connection between first and second cycle out of two cycles.
Constant
Is a single cycle.
All you have to do is just keep reeling in the line.
Do not move the rod at all.
Stop and Go
Is a paired cycle.
In a first cycle you have to reel in. In a second cycle you have to stop reeling in.
Do not move the rod at all.
Twitching
Is a single cycle.
Constantly reel in the line.
In one cycle either move quickly the rod left and right or just in one direction.
Jigging with reeling
Is paired cycle.
Constantly reel in the line in both cycles.
In a first cycle move the rod up or down. In second cycle move in the oposit direction to first cycle.
Jigging without reeling
Is paired cycle.
Do not reel in the line neighter in the first cycle or in the second cycle.
In a first cycle move the rod up or down. In second cycle move in the oposit direction to first cycle.

Float Fishing Rig
If the fish has trait Bottom Lurker, set hook depth to lowest 1.4 m, otherwise keep it on default value.

Lure Spinning Rig
Lure: Spinnerbait, Spinner, Popper, Frog, Spoon, Swimbait, Jerkbait
Cast at location specified at the specific fish and reel in using Constant with speed 1x, keep the lure near surface.
If the fish has trait Bottom lurker let the lure sink to the bottom and reel in ocassionally stopping to let it sink again.
Lure: Crankbait
Cast at location specified at the specific fish and reel in using Stop and Go with speed 1x, keep the lure near surface.
If the fish has trait Bottom lurker this lure cannot be used efficiently.

Jigghead Spinning Rig
Soft plastic lure: Worm, Shad, Grub, Tube
Cast at location specified at the specific fish and use Jigging with reeling at speed 1x, keep the lure near surface.
If the fish has trait Bottom lurker let the lure sink to the bottom and do not reel in.

General tips and tricks regarding baits and lures
Floaters
If you want to catch a certain type of fish (regardless of size) pick the correct floater bait and try to actually find the fish by looking into the water. Then cast the floater bait on top of the fish and adjust by reeling. This is a fastest catch you can get but the size usually won't be spectacular.
If you want to catch a specific sized fish, you have to be more attentive to the fish's "bio". Set up correct depth of your bait according to the fish's behaviour and select the right size of the hook. Do pay attention to the time of the day, as some types of fish are absolutely uncatchable during the night (eg. Yellow perch [damn you stupid fish...]).

This guide mentions "version 1.0.3". How accurate it is now that the current version is 1.3.1?

Thanks for the guide, most of it helps to understand the game
Smallmouth bass was caught for me more often on eggs, hook No. 6, silver and gold. The channel catfish pecked at the leech much more often..

Let me add just a short cast off side of boat, let it sink, go from there, good luck.
liv2drv 17 Feb, 2023 @ 8:13pm
I caught Mt. White fish middle of the night, DEEP water jigging with a spinner 10 to 20 ft. off bottom, stock yellow tail

I've nailed a diamond golden on a #4 spinner at the lake right next to the watch tower.. took me about 4 casts..
VictoriaHuntress 30 Dec, 2022 @ 10:40am
ah, that explains the reel-in differences. I was looking for some sort of control to select a mode. I tried playing around with the rod and reel, and sometimes the mode would switch. I think the spinning tutorial should have explained the mechanism in more detail
