I'll try to keep this as short as possible and give you all the solutions I found that could lead to fixing your issues with either black screens, crashes, errors, whatever.

For me, currently the game is running fine with latest Windows 10 X64 (19043.1466 build)

1.st step
- After the initial download, go to (D:\Program Files\Steam) and copy Steam and Steam2.dll files to (D:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty 2)
2.nd step
- Put compatibility mode on both CoD2SP_s.exe and CoD2MP_s.exe to Windows XP SP3 and check the "Run as Admin" box
3.rd step
- RUN the SP version first, make profile there and exit it, you don't have to change any settings in there, unless you want to play SP
4.th step
- Go to Sound Settings -> Sound Control Panel -> Recording -> Right click on empty white space and click "Show Disabled/Disconnected devices" -> There should be a "Stereo Mix" device there, right click on it, and click Enable.

If you don't have Stereo mixer in those settings download the latest RealtekHD Audio driver, install it, and restart PC to take effect, then you should have it there in options. Here is a link: https://filehippo.com/download_realtek-hd-audio-drivers-x64/

5.th and probablly last step that you'll need
- Update DirectX via next link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
- Update your graphics card driver

Bonus fix, but I think it's not needed
- Manualy update and overwrite to version 1.3 (link:https://www.lonebullet.com/patches/download-13-manual-upgrade-kit-call-of-duty-2-patch-free-6032.htm) -> I think this is not needed, even though I did it myself, so you can try it also.
- Download the file and extract it whevere you want
- Copy and Paste all the files from the extracted folder to (D:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty 2)
- Be sure if you made this manual update, check if the .exe files are still on Windows XP SP3 and Run as Admin modes

Thats it. Now you can try to enter CoD2MP_s.exe file and it should work.
IMPORTANT note: When changing graphics settings, be sure to do it piece by piece. Change resolution, then click apply, change render method, then click apply. It's the best way, cause if you try to do it all at once, game very often crashes.

PS. If nothing above helps, try: disconnecting and connecting your headset/mic from front of your PC to back or vice-versa


- Download RInput from next link: https://fearless-assassins.com/files/file/1656-rinput/
- Put it wherever you wish and first install vcredist_x86 included in the folder
- Afterwards, start CoD2MP_s.exe, after it loads into the menu, minimize the game and run RInput as Admin
- The console should pop out and just write in it: CoD2MP_s.exe and click enter, it should say something like "injection completed" console will shut down in 8...7...6...

If it doesn't say "the operation completed" something didn't work out and exit and enter the program again.

This should fix all the problems that happen with the mouse in this game, including weird acceleration, slowdowns, lags, stutters.

You NEED TO do this every time after starting the game... I know, but at least it fixes the issues, nothing else will work.
