Welcome to the Workshop!

This guide will cover the basics you need to start downloading or creating your own custom skins for Metal Unit.

First of all, open the in-game Workshop and select Item Skins.
This screen shows all the mods that are available to you currently.
If you want to get a mod from the Steam Workshop, simply subscribe to it and it will appear on the list.
To make your own mod, click on create.

Here you have to specify the base item you want to replace, enter a name and a description, and finally select the image you want to use as your new skin.

The images you want to use to create mods must be placed in the proper folder beforehand. You can click [Show Folder] to locate said folder.

Now that you have mods in your list, you can click on them to get more details and options.
If you want a mod to appear in-game, you must click on [Enable].
If you are happy with a mod you created and you want to share it with the community, you can click on [Submit], but make sure to follow the rules!
To remove a mod from the list, either delete it if it's a local mod, or unsubscribe from it if it's from the Steam Workshop.
Important tips and tricks to create your own item mods
  • Supported format is PNG.
  • Please stick to the in-game editor to create and manage your mods. Modifying files by yourself is likely to cause unwanted behavior.
  • Some item skins will only affect the icon displayed in-game.

  • Ideal resolution for an item skin is 32x32 pixels.
You can use a higher resolution if you desire, but keep the same pixel ratio! Otherwise your skin will appear squished.
  • When creating an item skin, keep in mind the orientation of the original art, otherwise your skin might be facing the wrong direction!
Important tips and tricks to create your own Falcon mods
  • Ideal resolution for a Falcon skin is 130x52 pixels.
You can use a higher resolution if you desire, but keep the same pixel ratio! Otherwise your Falcon will appear squished.
  • The sprite sheet is divided in 5x2 equal parts (each 26x26 originally).
Refer to the example sheet provided to see how the Falcon sprite sheet is split.
  • Keep in mind the way Falcon is facing on the example sheet!
