Por Lizard
I will show you how to play this game using a controller . I'm sure any controller will work, but for this guide i will be using the Logitech f710 wireless ( which is basically the xbox 360 controller )

In order for your controller to work with this game you will need to download a simple free program called "Xpadder" This program basically makes your controller work with any game you want :p

Here is a free download link
http://www.techspot.com/downloads/5869-xpadder.html

This Next download is optional but makes mapping your buttons easier
You find an image of your controller and copy it, then paste it in the image section of the xpadder menu ... i will show this later on

Here is a link to a hub where you can find images for every controller
http://xpadder.com/gcdb.php?command=promptforsearch

and if you have the same controller model as me or any controller , you can just download this and click on it and you will have everything ready for you untimately making the rest of this guide useless. ( i dont know if this will work tho)

Making your controller work with this game !
1st Make sure your controller is turned on or plugged in and open up xpadder

Once it is open you will see this. Click This button showed in the picture and select "new"

Now if you copied your controller image from the website i linked you to, this is the time to paste it in . Just click the paste button

Now it's time to map the buttons, sticks, triggers etc.
Click each thing and press the buttons it tells you to press .
Do this for every button, trigger, stick etc

Now that you've told the program which buttons etc you have, your screen should look like mine ( with your own controller image of course)

Now just hit save and start telling the program which keys you want the certain button to do
Here is how i mapped mine ( which is exactly how the console keys are )

If all that was rocket science to you, just use this

now just minimize the program and open up cod and enjoy . NOTE - your left stick will act as your mouse and LB as left mouse click. so use those 2 buttons to navigate the menu.

Don’t know why this post appears on the home page again, but i need to remind some people: this is a post from 2014, before Controller Input and Big Picture Mode were available on Steam.
For this game, it is better to use K&M, but there are always people who prefer to play the game with gamepad, maybe out of habit, maybe out of novelty. So please put up your arrogance and give others some basic respect: stop bully.

you don't need a controller for this game

the keyboard and mouse is more accurate

and the way the game was designed to be played
as this was a pc exclusive game

Interesting, in my day we called this a gamepad.

Lol, @DontBodyYaSelf imagine thinking that everyone should just always use KB & M for everything. People have preferences. I for example grew up playing consoles and prefer to play with a controller. I'm also not in a good setup to play with KB & M currently and a controller is just far more convenient and always me to just sit back and play.

Mapping button presses to analog sticks is incredibly stupid and incredibly jarring. Good job.
