How to disable Slow Machine Mode
By Retrotude
If you're playing the UK dub of the game (available in the betas menu), the game will run in slow machine mode, disabling many of the game's graphical effects. This guide will help you re-enable the animations.

Disabling Slow Machine Mode in UK dub
Note: This is for players using the UK dub available under the beta version options. If you are playing the US dub, there is no need to disable slow machine mode, as it's already normal by default.

Slow Machine Mode was meant for computers in the mid 90s that didn't have good enough specs to handle the full animation that this game has. This disables many visual effects, especially noticeable during the opening cutscene in the available UK dubbed version. Luckily, this can be fixed with a simple edit to the configuration settings.

Step 1: Right click on the game's title in your Steam library list and choose "Properties"

Step 2: Go to the "Local Files" tab and click the "Browse Local Files" button.

Step 3: Open the folder titled "ScummVM_Windows" and open "scummvm-spyfox1.ini" using
either WordPad or the advanced text editor of your choice. The basic Notepad on Windows will not work.

Step 4: Navigate to the bottom of the settings list, under [spyfox] and enter "ForceMachineSpeed=Fast" without quote marks into the file.

The game should now run in it's full animated glory. Enjoy!

Took a listen to the UK voices after first hearing the original... my ears hate me now. :fsad:

@knb736 As far as I know, most of Humongous' adventures don't output anything more than 30 FPS. That statistic isn't very important, however, as slow machine mode simply disables several animations that would have been major resource hogs on old systems. Easiest and quickest way to tell which is being used is to watch the opening cutscene. If the game cuts instantly to the drip of milk after the intro logos without having a "camera shifting" effect on the picture, you're in slow machine mode.

how fast is the game? 60fps?

@knb756 You shouldn't need to turn it off in the US version as it runs with full animation by default. The instructions should be the same if it is for some reason. If you'd like to turn it on, though, in the US version, just follow the instructions I give but replace "Fast" with "Slow" in step 4.
