Introduction
OVERVIEW
When it comes to playing as Japan in this game, there are three key steps you can take that will largely depend on various factors such as your personal playstyle, the map you are playing on, the enemy you are facing, and your team's overall strategy. The first step is to focus on spamming infantry, as this is a core aspect of Japan's gameplay style. The second step involves creating defenses and investing in some sort of insurance, such as mortars and AT, to help protect your infantry and weaken your opponent's forces. Finally, step three is simply to rinse and repeat these two steps as needed throughout the course of the game. By following these steps, you can effectively leverage Japan's strengths and play to their unique gameplay style in order to secure victory on the battlefield.

Infantry Spam (Early Game)

GENERALITY
Infantry is a powerful asset in the hands of a skilled player. To effectively attack, you'll want to purchase cheap infantry squads along with support equipment that can help keep your infantry alive. Preventing your enemy from fielding infantry can make it easier to overwhelm their tanks. To further boost your defensive capabilities, it's wise to invest in some "insurance", such as SNLF AT Infantry and mortars.

Part 1:
When attacking with infantry, you can purchase inexpensive squads such as suicide chargers or assault squads. Suicide chargers are useful for throwing grenades and causing chaos among enemy infantry, but they're not reliable for defending. To defend effectively, you'll need regular infantry units or higher. A useful strategy is to throw most of your grenades, then spread out your suicide chargers into cover or bushes before leaving them to soak up some gunfire for your real soldiers to put in the work. You can then replace them with fresh suicide charger squads every time the enemy attacks and kills some of your units.

Part 2:
Support equipment such as knee mortars and Type 97 mortars can be used to weaken enemy pushes before they reach your main line. Depending on the map and your position, an SS-D flame tank can be a great investment for shooting flames over hills and holding your line against enemy infantry.

Part 3:
As an optional defensive measure, laying landmines can be effective when you have a break in enemy aggression.

ART OF SAVING
After conducting your infantry spam, it's important to reinforce your area with higher-quality infantry and anti-tank equipment such as AT guns or tanks. If you were unsuccessful in capturing the objective early in the game, you'll need to set up defenses before the objective to prevent being overrun by enemy attacks. Once you have a solid defensive line, you can prepare to attack or bolsters your already existing defensive line.

Part 1:
To reinforce your area, you need to buy good infantry, AT guns, tanks, and ensure that all your equipment, such as mortars, are supplied. You should also consider making bigger purchases (Such as tanks and AT guns) and planning where to place them strategically to maximize their benefits.

Part 2:
It's important to keep refilling your lost men and either stay defensive and support your teammates or save your MP and prepare for a big infantry spam to push the enemy back even further. Towards the end of the game, you'll typically have a lot of extra MP, especially if you didn't spend it all on infantry spam. You can use this extra MP to win the game by spamming units when the enemy team has little to no MP left.
Rinse & Repeat

BEING DYNAMIC
Being dynamic is crucial when playing all factions, especially Japan, as it requires constantly adapting to the changing situations and enemies tactics. The most significant threat you'll face as Japan is tanks, so it's essential to spend most of your time devising strategies to counter them. Fortunately, Japanese equipment provides a good balance of defensive and offensive capabilities.

To counter Japan, the best approach is to prevent them from seizing ground early in the game by setting up quick defenses. As Japan, you need to be extremely aggressive in the beginning, taking as much ground as possible before focusing on defending and holding that ground against enemy attacks. Therefore, you need to be flexible and be prepared to switch between offensive and defensive playstyles depending on the situation.
Conclusion
REVIEW
A successful strategy in the game requires a dynamic and adaptable playstyle. It is important to purchase a variety of units, including infantry, support equipment, anti-tank guns, and the right tanks. Japan in particular has a weakness against flame tanks because you should have a lot of infantry on the field, so it's absolutely crucial you prioritize taking them out. Sometimes it's more important to focus on a mounted machinegun rather than an enemies tank, because they can be a major hindrance to your infantry, especially your suicide chargers on the attack. However, in general, it's good practice to give priority to destroying tanks. Overall, flexibility and adaptation are key to achieving victory.
Tips & Tricks
NOTES
  • Pressing F1 and left clicking on your keyboard to easily grenade spam, F2 for anti tank grenades.
  • Double tapping L on a vehicle will cause the men to get out and self destruct the vehicle, to stop this process put men back inside the vehicle.
  • The Type 97 Mortar only needs infantry ammo to be supplied, but heavy ammo boxes work for it as well.
  • Tanks such as the Chi-To have 3 different kinds of armor piercing rounds, press I and double click on the bottom most shell (Typically the most penetrating of all the AP rounds for that tank), or while direct controlling a tank you can press spacebar to switch between the ammo types.
  • You earn more MP when your CP (Command points, more units you have on the field the higher this number is) is below 50, 100 being your max. So buy officers when you are over 50 CP and the amount at which you gain MP will be increased.

A lot of getting better is just being aware and attentive to what you have and to what's going on. Japan is a hard nation to learn as well, I recommend trying to learn on Germany or USA.
