You can go through them when they're not expanding, they're fairly easy to avoid.

The gauss cannon can shoot through walls by default. :)

Didn't undestand what allowed you to shoot through the wall during the battle with Ymir...

With Odr keep flying all the time and rush the bosses, your shotgun is strong enough to destroy them quickly and what kills on on Odr and Sanngridr runs are mostly the flies and other projectile enemies.

Pick up all the range and damage upgrades you can, and only upgrade to a different weapon if it's an obvious upgrade like the double tap shotgun, golden gun, gauss rifle, etc.
