After successfully taking coastal Epirus in the initial offensive the Italians have managed to retain their hold on it through the Greek counterattack. The front stabilized through the rest of winter as neither side could make any real headway. German assistance was called for, and their machinations on Yugoslavia ended in a pro-allied coup. As the invasion on Yugoslavia looms, Commando Supremo has called for a spring offensive to attempt to break out from the stalemate. The plan was to bypass the bulk of the Greek army and advance along the western coast. The ultimate objective being the capture Athens and the strategic Athens-Thessoloniki rail line. This would isolate the Greek Army currently massed in the north. Unknown to the Italians was that British reinforcements had arrived in Athens right as their offensive was underway.
