PAT-A-CAKE (4K)

One of the oldest and most widely known surviving English nursery rhymes. The earliest recorded version of the rhyme appeared in 1698. The rhyme often accompanies a clapping game between two people. If told by a parent to a child, the "B" and "baby" can be replaced by the child's first initial and name.

The most common version is;

Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker's man.
Bake me a cake as fast as you can.
Pat it and prick it, and mark it with a B,
Put it in the oven for Baby and me.
