Basic Info
I will try to make this guide as straight forward and basic as possible to allow you to follow a long easy. I understand a lot of information being thrown at you from the get go can be daunting at first but it is essential to your survival and enjoyment of the game. - From my own personal experience, the game has a really steep learning curve in which I hope this guide helps you overcome sooner rather than later.

Lets begin with the most obvious:

  • Keybinds - I highly recommend you view your keybinds and familarise yourself with them.
  • Hot Bar - This is the easy access bar on the bottom of the screen. Its highly recommended you utilise this. As it will allow you to map keys to items such as bandages, food, water, first aid kit etc.

Don't forget:

  • Don't be a penis and aggro new players. Nobody will like you for it. - The English speaking community is a close knit community.
  • The use of a torch (flashlight) at night will reveal your position.
  • Never discuss anything in game with real life money. Its against the rules.
  • Never be racist, homophobic, sexist publicly in the chat. - sure fire way to get banned.
  • Don't impersonate administration in anyway (via chat, ingame name etc).
  • Its a game, don't take it to seriously.
  • Have F U N !

Safezones / Spawn Points

When you leave for Lubech, you enter into PvP / PvE areas (this is something to get used to).

You can identify the differences by the following icons:

- You're safe from outside attack also acts as a spawn point.
- Safe from outside attacks. Does not act as a spawn point.
- Safe area at a clan base.

If you do not have one of the above icons showing on your screen. Its safe to assume you're in a "open" PvP area.

Its worth noting your "karma" will immediately effect your ability to enter safezones

Karma Explained

Karma is an indicator that grows when killing neutral characters in an "open" PvP area.
The normal (neutral) state for karma is zero (0).

When the value of the karma indicator is above 200 units, your character will go into the status of an offender, this is easily identified by your nickname being the colour red. After that, almost all NPCs will become hostile to you and other players will be able to kill you with impunity.

  • "Open" PvP area - This is where, if you're shot at or killed, the player who killed you will inflict negative karma. This rule applies vice versa. This is the norm and you will rapidly become acquainted with it

  • "Closed" PvP area - This is where clans fight over territory. And when they're within the battle radius they do not inflict negative karma.

  • Safezones - If you try to enter a safezone with a negative karma, the guards will shoot you without hesitation.

Karma is dynamic, just as you obtain it, you can also lose it. So, to recap:

Lowering Karma - You can lower your karma by killing mutants / animals and by doing some specific reusable tasks.
Gaining Karma - Player Killing other players outside of "closed" PvP areas.

Thirst and Hunger

Thirst

You must maintain your thirst points. If you fail to do so, your character will eventually succumb to dehydration and your stamina will be depleted.

Keep an eye out for pumps and wells:

Escrito originalmente por T0MMYGUNSZ:
Although rare, just be wary that some wells are not legitimate and will poison you.

Other ways of maintaining your thirst would be; Bottled water, glass/soda of water.

You can use the glass to refill at pumps/wells/rivers but remember, if you refill at a river or dirty well to always boil your water. (the game will tell you when you refill, if its dirty water or not). Always fill to canteen (Soldiers Flask / Airborne Flask) first before drinking directly from a well.

Hunger

You must maintain your hunger points. If you fail to do so, your character will eventually succumb to starvation and your stamina will be depleted.

There is plenty of ways to maintain your hunger. The easiest being; Killing animals and harvesting their meat to be cooked on a campfire (Just like you learned in the tutorial).

There is other ways too such as; Ration Packs, Cans of Stew, bread. Some flowers are edible as well as mushrooms. But be wary of the poisonous ones!

Trade Points

Trade Points is a personal currency that allows you to purchase certain items from NPC merchants.
This type of 'currency' is replenished by completing various tasks, as well as by selling some specifically requested items to the merchant. When you finally obtain enough Trade Points with a specific merchant, you can purchase various items from them that are either above or equal to the value of trade points.

For example: AK74M is 1kk + 5k Trade Points, You have 6k trade points and 2kk - you can afford the AK74M.

Workbenches / Recipes

A workbench allows you to create items according to some recipes that otherwise cannot be created by hand. These are permanent benches that can be discovered in certain towns / villages.

Recipes are instructions on how to create certain equipment / consumables, i.e. Molotov's

Artefacts / Anomalies

When equipped, Artefacts give different buffs for approx. 24 hours dependant on their remaining charge time. be sure to equip them, you will slowly and constantly take radiation as a downside.

Worth noting that Artefacts and their use is entirely dependant on what type of Artefact it is.
e.g. Heaters are for cold weather climates such as Newland map.

Artefacts can be farmed from various locations in the zone. Its worth noting the strength of all artefacts depletes over time if they're not contained in an Artefact Container.

Lower the strength, lower the price when you come to sell to a merchant.

Misc

Game Terms

Whilst playing, you may come across some of the below acronyms and abbreviations

  • Art / Arts - short for artefact.
  • Buff - A positive effect to the player.
  • Debuff - A negative effect to the player.
  • PK / PK'd - Player Killer / Player Killed
  • Spawn - Re-spawn / re-spawn point.
  • Screen - screenshot / artefact (dependant on context).
  • Stack - combining items. I.e. bullets
  • 310 - Gourmet (location).
  • Zone - The wilderness
  • kk - A Million (e.g: 1kk = 1,000,000).

Chat Commands

Some things can not be done via GUI in game, therefore you have to submit a chat command to achieve an action, i.e. leaving a group.

Here is a few you should remember:

  • /iwannadie - lose consciousness and call for help.
  • /ping - display your ping.
  • /time - displays the servers current time.
  • /groupleave - leave the squad.
  • /chatabuse [on, off] - enable and disable chat message censorship.
  • /ichangedmymind - reset character skills, for redistribution (available once every 30 days in real time) - This can also be done via the Skills GUI.

Other useful stuffs
  • ALT+H will hide players within major safe zones.
  • 'N' Key will change your reticle in the collimator scopes/sights.
  • Tired of manually loading your magazines? You can queue them with Shift+Click / CTRL+Click all your mags and drag and drop onto the ammunition of your choice.

Apologies, i don't own AMD so not aware of how to configure.

Making Roubles
There is three different ways to make Roubles in game.

1. Trading via the bulletin board.
2. Selling to merchants.
3. Completing quests.

The Most profitable way to make roubles is to flip items on the bulletin board. I wouldn't recommend board watching 24/7. But you can easily hunt/scavenge for most items and list them on the board. Then once you have enough Roubles to buy Weapons or other high ticket items, watch the roubles roll in.

Example:
Buy AK74U for 600k. Sell for 700k. - Thats an instant 100k profit.
Buy Glock 17 for 15kk. Sell for 18kk. - Easy 3 million Roubles.

Another method is to grind hunting. - It might be hard work but its honest work!

I.e. hunt Veliock and harvest their Legs. Or boars or even bears! There are plenty in Lubech Outskirts.

Escrito originalmente por TommyGunz:
I wouldn't recommend grinding quests strictly for the roubles, you will be disappointed. Especially during the early stages, the Roubles you get rewarded for quests are lacking. quest rewards is mostly directed toward XP and reputation to begin with.

Anomalies Explained
All anomalies will inflict radiation upon you if you're close to their vicinity. Hang around to long and take to much rads, you will get calamus debuff.

Guns from Quests
This section is a WIP, please check back later.

In this section i will detail every first quest that will reward the player with a weapon upon completion of the last quest. Be wary though, some of these quests won't be a walk in the park.

Escrito originalmente por TommyGunz:
In my opinion, as the game is, in it's current state, It's almost not worth doing some of the quests just for the weapon alone.

Ammo Types Extended
Ammo can be expensive in Stay Out. There is no need to buy an ammo type you do not require.

Majority of players will be using 5.45x39 ammo for their AK platform. However, due to recent updates, most players now opt for the 7.62x39 variant or for the NATO weapons, 5.56x45.

Its best practise to have 1 weapon for PvE where the ammunition is cheap and 1 weapon for PvP which is armour piercing although more expensive but you have to take into consideration of other players Personal Protective Equipment (e.g body armour, helmet etc).

Its important to note penetration values and damage values for certain types of bullets. The easiest way to interpret the numerous variations of bullet types is the following:

High Pen? = Armour piercing. (PvP)
High Dam? = Soft Targets. (PvE)

Anything in-between high penetration and high damage is your middle ground bullet and is a wise choice to invest in as it will cover both situations relatively well.

Please bear in mind though as you progress through the maps within the zone, you will come across PvE targets that have Armour. - Dependant on your activity, ensure you're using the correct bullet variation for the best outcomes. Plan, Prepare, Succeed.- It's better to be safe than sorry.

PvPvE Damage Outputs
To achieve maximum damage output, always aim for the weak spots.

It's imperative you maintain your weapons and clothing otherwise they will lose their passive effects and will become futile.

  • Weapons are prone to jamming if they're not cleaned regularly which will increasingly prove problematic during field operations.

  • Clothing will become damage and not provide as a great passive buff against specific entities (i.e. anomalies, frostbite etc).

To repair items, you will need an adequate repair skill.

Maintaining Clothing Items

If you lack the repair skill, you may have to visit a clothing merchant to fix your garments. - But this can be costly.

Maintaining Weapons

To get your weapons state percentage higher, you may have to visit a weapons merchant to fix your weapon. - He will also clean it for you too. But this can be costly and it will also apply the 'repaired' status.. You can remove this by using a repair kit specific to the weapon.
Events
Stay out hosts a variety of in game events in which players can attend to earn great rewards. Its highly recommended that you only attend these events if you have the appropriate gear to maintain yourself. I.e. Anti-rads, Food, Water, Med Kits, Ammo.

You will be attacking/defending yourself from waves of enemies as well as having to complete specific tasks.

L U B E C H

It's very rare you will find any deliberate PvP action here. Most PK's are usually by accident. This map is the third staging area for new players. It introduces them to various aspects of the game such as multiple quests of different difficulties as well insight in to the reputation system and how different quests impact different factions reputation with you.

Your main goal on this map is to leave for Lubech outskirts. To achieve this, you can work for Greek or Shaktekt.

Greek Located in the militia building will ask you to do various tasks before putting you on the "List" of leavers. Once you're on the "list" you can come and go freely via the 3 gates.

Shaktekt is located in his bunker however, you will not be able to see him directly at first, his guards will tell you to work for the Hucksters at the house of culture. You must complete 3 quests to be able to see him. He will then offer you quests so you can leave via the underground exit located next to the house of culture.

Its worth mentioning, ideally, you should gather every quests you physically can in this area as its a staging area, by completing quests it will allow you rank up and get a better grasp on the game.
There is absolutely no need for you to leave Lubech as soon as possible if you're new to the game. You will only die quicker in the outskirts as your skill level will be to low.

Here are a few NPCs to look out for:

Koyla Acid
You can find him inside the station entrance in a wheel chair and offers a couple quests the main one is to go and retrieve a TT from the Gunsmith Serge. To retrieve your TT just go and ask Serge at his kiosk.

Ivy the Barkeep
You can find him inside the station at his bar he sells food and water.
You can also buy a knife from him which will allow faster butchering.

Serge The Gunsmith
He sells ammo
you can trade him your Nagant Revolver for 2 extra TT magazines (If you have the TT, I recommend doing this).

NOTE: To stop you from running into money problems early on. I recommend butchering/looting everything you kill. - If you can't eat it, sell it to merchants or on the board outside Lubech train station

O U T S K I R T S

When you finally leave Lubech for the outskirts, the first place you want to visit is 'Gourmet'.
Gourmet is the main central hub. Majority of players buy and sell in Gourmets village. You will soon find yourself becoming comfortable in Gourmet.

Things to Note:
  • The outskirts are tough compared to Lubech make sure you're well stocked on meds and anti-rads. Your main focus should be achieving a better weapon. Ideally an SKS or AK74U.
  • If you have neither, i'd recommend hunting the boars in the surrounding vicinity and selling the items directly on the bulletin board or to Gourmet himself.
  • There are numerous ways of obtaining better weapons. Some quicker than others. One way is taking your chances on a crate from the in-game store. You may get lucky!
  • Most quests don't really give you in much of a weapons, sadly. - If you want high quality weapons, you gotta work for those Trade Points.
  • Do quests for Gourmet, his Trade Points will also reflect to the other village vendors.

Notable persons and locations:

The Science Camp. aka Schlemovich Camp
This is where to carry and sell all of your mutant parts and artefacts. - Remember you need an MGD for artefact harvesting. And a Artefact Container to maintain its value

TarTar Island aka House in the Swamp
There is a quest for a hunting knife located here. The hunting knife at present is the 2nd best knife in game. It butchers the faster than the kitchen knife.

The Whites aka The Light
Here you can do daily quests and gain reputation. Worth remembering that progressing your 'Whites' reputation will mean lowering a majority of other factions.

Spider Khan
This is a boss event area. You need to be certain level before you can access with a group. You'd also need an assault rifle, a lot of ammo and meds and a group with high level gear to be able to successfully defeat Khan. - This event has been made to be more accessible to everyone. However, that doesn't take away the fact it is still extremely difficult to complete.

There are two suppliers.
They buy most things at the highest prices. However they operate on server time. (/time chat command).

The first supplier is seen in square (G4-4) and appears 08:00 to 10:00 or 03:00 to 05:00.
The second supplier appears in square О5-4 at 15:00 to 19:00 or 23:00 or 21:00 to 00:00.

If the supplier didn't appear in one location, then look in the other. He works on server time only.

I would avoid travelling to Vesuvius, Airport or Prison until you have a better weapon and gear. These locations are vastly tougher than Lubech Outskirts and you will soon find yourself being frustrated if your equipment/gear is not on par.

V E S U V I U S
The first place you want to head over to is Radio Tower. This is the main centralised camp within this map.

In Radio Tower, i'd advise buying x10 'Stupid Blyak tongues' asap from the board, you can then hand this in to the medical guy and it will unlock his meds for you.

Vesuvius will introduce you to 2 new types of entities, 1 being Spores which are incredibly lethal. Its imperative to avoid Spores at all times as very few make it through their minefields.

The 2nd is a mutant - Fiends/Imps, these use Psi as their primary attack method so it's best to engage these from a distance. Having these gang up on you, you're as good as dead. You can use 'Nerve Stims' to counteract their Psy Stuns.

For a safe passage throughout Vesuvius, its advised to just stick to the main roads and try not to aggro to many mutants.

Escrito originalmente por TommyGunz:
Its worth noting Animals and Mutants AND anomalies in Vesuvius is considerably a lot tougher than those of Outskirts. Its advised you travel well stocked on medkits and antirads. - From here on out, this will be a notable theme throughout each map beyond Outskirts, so get used to it.

Most Notable Persons

Morse
Located in Radio Tower, he will most likely provide you your first quest. Radio tower is under Ravenhood PMC occupation.

Vanya Hell
Located in Novikovo he is Notoriously difficult and a repetitive quest giver. But the reward of unlocking his ability to sell you gear is huge. Vanya is the only NATO weapon dealer in game thus far. He is protected by Purgatory Mercs.

Scientists
Located at Aegis camp, you will begin to brush arms with these guys a few times but note, they're protected by the Military aka Omega Special Unit.

Bandits
Located in the underground of the Distillery, the bandits do provide good quests, one quest-line rewards you with an MP5A2 but again, you will need to have deep pockets to buy the resources or grind a lot to complete the quest.

Be sure to check your reputation with these factions often because not everyone gets a long with each other. - Ravenhood PMC dislike Military and vice versa. You can learn more about a faction via your Journal and navigate to the 'clans' tab.
