Guide v1.4
How 2 reduce game size of Horizon Zero Dawn.

Like many other games HZD will install language-pack files of ALL supported languages.

By following these simple steps u can free 14+ GB of disc space.

1.
Open the game folder of HZD
...Steam\steamapps\common\Horizon Zero Dawn\

2.
Open the Packed_DX12-folder

Here u will find many bin-files.
These r the language-pack files.
Example (English language-pack files):
DLC1_English.bin,
Initial_English.bin,
Remainder_English.bin

Each language-pack consists of 3 files.

IMPORTANT:
DLC1.bin, Initial.bin, Remainder.bin, FGRWin32.bin & Patch.bin r crucial game-files.
If u delete these files when u proceed with step 4, the game will not run anymore.

4.
Delete all the other language-pack files.

U can delete 31 files & free 14+ GB of disk space.
In the end, there should only be 8 bin-files in the Packed_DX12 folder.

IMPORTANT:
If u verify the game-cache the files will be restored
Future updates may also restore these files.
(According 2 Laptop in the comments, v1.11 seems 2 have restored the language pack files.)

Update v1.01 - 1.10 did NOT restore the files.

@ ChronosDoix : The latest Steam UI (User Interface) is an eye candy, resource hog, bug ridden and with a memory leak on top, particularly when compared to the previous Steam 's UI which was practical and far more resource efficient (even if not terribly dashing in good looks). :creatiboom:

So, my best advise to you is finding a thread to "Revert to OLD Steam UI" and follow its instructions because it was what has allowed me to play Horizon Zero Dawn ( HZD ) once again. Whenever I tried to have the newest UI running it basically screwed over all my attemtps to play HZD due to its resource hogging and memorly leakage. :winter2019happybulb:

Is it possible to do the same with death stranding ? I can't find files labelled with languages and it uses the same engine as horizon. Just asking.

BimboGooch. that's exactly what games used to do back when they were on disc. you'd tell it what language and that is the only language files it'd install.
in more reccent years since every thing has gon to d/l no one has done this. but it needs to be a thing. it would save tons of D/l time as well.

I dont know why games just have you choose language before you launch the game, or even install it. And then not install the languages youre not using or uninstall them. It cant be that much work to do. Likely would take one guy maybe a few days max.

Steam does have a feature to only install files for a specific language..

..I don't know why companies stopped using it.
