Common Misconceptions
What is a recon unit in Wargame?
The main objective of a reconnaissance Unit in Wargame is to provide intel about enemy forces in realtime.
Although its main duty in modern warfare is providing information of enemy activity,
the reconnaissance unit in wargame was given a different task of its real life counterparts.
The reconnaissance unit is mostly used in wargame as frontline troop in the unending meatgrinder of the wargame matches.
From our point of view this method is a waste the precious value of the reconnaissance unit.
Here in our short tutorial we will try to explain a known but rarely used method of operating the reconnaissance unit in the way it was deemed to be.

Our Method
The reconnaissance unit should not be use a frontline combat unit rather it should provide crucial information about the enemy defense (command vehicles , artillery pieces , heavy tanks , reinforcement, FOBs etc....).
For that reason they come with either a airborne or a motorized transport so you can quickly move them between positions. and once they are on a position they can stay hidden (Stealth) and spot enemy units.

Types of Recon units
Every nation has several types of recon(infantry) units for example:
The USSR has the:
Razvedka (group of 5 men who are regular trained)
Spetsnaz GRU (10 men squad who are elite trained and have sniper rifle)
Spetsnaz VMF (a dedicated 2 men sniper team, elite trained and having exceptional stealth)
These can all come in all types of transports varying from mechenize to Airbone.

How Veterancy Affect The Unit Capability
The better trained the better they spot, they are faster, they deal more damage, and they are more accurate.
What are Optics?
Optics on a unit info grid represents how good the reconnaissance unit can spot and from what range.
The better the optics are, the further it spots and the batter it can detect hidden units.

Stealth
Stealth is how good a unit can stay hidden from enemy detection.
The better the stealth is, the harder it is to find it and they can shot without been seen( As long the reconnaissance unit is not being counterspotted)
stealth is in levels categorized: bad, poor, medium, good, very good and exceptional.
from bad being the worst and exceptional being the best.

Crucial information positions:
Most of the fragile information can be found behind enemy lines, their starting sector the roads between enemy owed sectors etc..

How to get into a position?
First you must identify the front line after that you must identify the flanks then you must sneak a recon unit through the flank with either a helicopter or a motorized vehicle or on foot(if you are going behind enemy lines its batter to take an elite trained recon unit)
(Im operating the left flank/ the front line is marked with the red line the flanks are behind the white lines)
remember sometimes its batter for your units to walk for they will not get spotted and also its batter if you will stay in cover don't go in the open then you can get spotted easily.
when you are behind enemy lines remember sometimes engaging is not the right thing to do you must stay hidden the objective of the unit is to gather intel not killing. (there is a reason why you can turn off your weapons)
In that game (the game where the picture is taken) there was no clear winner until 3/4 of the match was played. in this game bluefor had massive air power atvantage on redfor so we had to either invest heavily in anti air or in fighters. but if you will look closely you will see that bluefor didn't pay much needed attention to the flanks thus redfor had full control of the flanks.
to counter bluefor's air power I decided to bring heavy AA to the left flank near Dimitri.
Also because I had recon on their spawn I was able to spot and destroy (with help from my teammates) high value targets.
after some time the road was a grave yard for bluefor.
at the end of the game we had free killing ground on their spawn and we always knew what they are bringing and when their planes are going on a bombing run and sometimes even shooting down some planes.

RECAP:
At this game i used my elite recon to take the left flank of the map destroying in the process a leclerc,Tiger HAP,and a CV.(all with my recon)
and spotting more and more units for my team to kill.
some might say I was spawn camping and for that I say YES I DID and you would have done the same thing if you where on the redfor team this move saved the match (im not saying that I alone saved the match but this move took a lot of pressure from my teammates) and its bluefor's fault that they didn't watch their flanks proper if they had saved their flanks they would have won for sure with their air power and artillery.
The lesson for bluefor team is always save your flanks you had a huge chance of winning but you have done a huge mistake and that chance just waved you goodbye.....
its goes to show how recon units are able to change the game making a huge change in the course of the game.

doctrine is kinda wrong. yes u should use light recce units behind enemy lines eg: Spetsnaz VMF, or the Canadian 2 man recce team, but you would NEVER send Spetsnaz GRU or Seals behind enemy lines... they dont have long range AT, they have good stealth NOT, EXCEPTIONAL so they get spotted easily if enemy sends counter recce helo (basic counter flank tactic) and they are much better used 2 support infantry in city hardpoints where they can spot inf in houses without engaging.
my POV: other than inf and tanks, rec should be right up there as one of the first slots 2 fill out. u should ALWAYS carry 2 types of recce inf, a light recce with long range AT capability, eg: cav scouts as ur "behind the lines unit", and a full bad ass hunter killer team (usually with grenade launchers) eg: formoza or seals.

This philosophy can work well in the multiplayer, but the forget it with the AI. special forces (and recon INF) are useless when playing the AI. if only they would update this game.

that because the AI always knows were your units are and will always go for the engagement + the AI will just movefast all of his units to your spawn the AI is not that subtle

Its a shame this does not work versus AI. They always seem to 'stumble' their way towards hidden units.

Anyone who bitches about spawn camping in a game like this is an idiot. Cutting off your enemy's supply lines is called interdiction and real world armies train troops for that specific purpose. Spetznaz GRU is a prime example as are the US Green Berets. These units go deep behind enemy lines to conduct missions that are highly detrimental to the regular units on the frontlines.
