Hey this is Nathan with Analog Reviews and today we're having a look at the anticipated real time strategy, Company of Heroes 2.

Unlike the first company of heroes which focuses on the western front, this installment will have you playing as the Russians while you try to defend Moscow and halt the Nazi invasion.

The campaign follows the exploits of Lieutenant Isakovich who is being interrogated as a traitor. As he tells his story, you'll be forced to play various missions that re-enact battles of World War 2. The campaign unfortunately gives off a poor first impression; it's a bit too easy and scripted as it completely limits the player from fully controlling their army. It also doesn't utilize nearly as much strategy as one would come to expect from a Company of Heroes game. If you do give the campaign a chance, it does eventually build momentum and becomes quite enjoyable during some of the later missions. My favorite of which are the missions that have you assume control of a limited number of troops as you try to sneak behind enemy lines and harass German forces. Unfortunately, the majority of missions offer you a near-limitless supply of expendable troops which betray Company of Heroes' micro based gameplay but on the other hand it stays true to Russian World War 2 tactics.

Overall, Company of Heroes 2 is a bit of a disappointment when compared to the first game. The gameplay is more or less the same, as are the graphics for the most part so one wonders why company of heroes 2 wasn't released as an expansion pack opposed to a full $60 title. The map design isn't as well thought out and the campaign isn't as interesting either. Regardless of these flaws, Company of Heroes 2 is still a fun game, and if you give it a chance, you're bound to have fun and get your money's worth.

First you complained about how artillery is to over powered and then you go on to talk about how things are not realistic. Sure you made some good points, but other times I would have to disagree. But I overall agree that the first one was better. I played that for hours and hours on edge.

I feel bad for whatever developer got stuck making this game, one of my all time favorite RTS games has been degraded to this

Don't use your Katyushas in front of buildings and don't throw Molotvs at vehicles.

@Kitsurubami Ah I see, I originally posted this video to YouTube back in July. I'm glad they fixed that but having only 2 factions is still a major let down. Yeah, the microtransactions were a major problem at launch, there was about $70 of Day 1 DLC and it looks like they kept up with the trend now.

only 2 things id like to point out, they added custom maps, and they also made it so you can play as Germans or Rus on the same team so not everyone has to be the same. i got it yesterday and have clocked 10+ hours on it already. only thing thats super upsetting is all the micro charges its damn near Pay to win.

i am thinking about buying this game for 5 months now... still i cant decide. Unfortunatly i missed the free weekend.. sometimes i hate it to have a girlfriend :P

nice video to me this game isnt worth 60$ it worth like 20$ during beta i recorded alot of bugs glitches and stuff and i sent it to them with 3 emails and they never replied back and when the game was released i barrowed my friend account to try it and still had the exact same problem so to me this was a poorly made game by lazy people i run crossfire 6870 radeon AMD cards if u wanna see the video i found here the link below it was soo funny recording it
