Yes, reminds me of cylinder chess, the strangest chess variant where the board has no edges.
The board is a mounted cylinder that can be rotated by the players (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cylinder_chess) . Cheers mate, have a good day!:TheLakeGem:
