Awkward Guests - Scripted

Description
An 8 player scripted version of the detective board game.

All elements are private to players, and use tracking boards with scripted buttons and text inputs for making notes. Setup is as simple as typing in the 70 card numbers from the app.

Awkward Guests - Scripted
--------------------------------

1) Use the app or the manual to get the list of 70 case cards. Type the numbers into the “Input Case Card List” notepad object on the table (click your mouse in the top left cell). Enter the card number list by typing numbers and tabbing through the fields, don't include leading zeros i.e. please enter 5 instead of 005 (the manual and app use different number formatting - make sure that if using the manual and the manual says 005, 010, 025 you enter 5 10 and 25 in the boxes). Click the green button when ready and the case will build, move to the draw pile and shuffle.

2) Sheets track all items and are invisible to other players. e.g. xG can be used in room notes if Greg wasn't there, C? can be used if Claudette might have been in a room. Use crosses from bags to mark pathways that were not used. The four white rooms at the bottom have a textbox for the number of guests that should be wide enough for the 2+ etc cards that are also used in the game. There is a general notes section at the bottom for anything else you can't fit on.

3) Offers can be made by putting them into the side board, and clicking 'offer', chat log and number token will confirm offer value to other players. Use the arrows and 'trade cards' button to trade. Traded cards go face-down in the 'offhand' so that you can complete all trades before looking at the new cards (move them to your hand after all trades are done).

4) In the solution phase, players ready to solve should (before clicking any control buttons) put their solution into their sheets by using the purple buttons on the right hand side to cycle through the Who, Why and How of the murder.

a) Click 'Solution Phase' all solutions on sheets will be locked and solving tokens will become private (This part is VERY important, each player has to input their guess before clicking this solution button, your murderer choice, motive and weapon choice can be used later to verify that the player genuinely guessed). You should now flip your solving token to indicate whether you wish to guess on this round.

b) Once all players have selected their token side, click 'Reveal Solving Tokens' to make the solving tokens public again. The chat log will confirm who is ready to solve the murder. Guessing can be done with the app, or manual (app codes can be shared at this point if you all have a downloaded version of the app, the app is a more variable and fun experience IMO). In addition to the tokens being public, a 'Game End - Reveal All Boards' button will appear.

Game End Button -- If at this point you have a player who tells you that they've won, you can press this game end button to reveal ALL BOARDS AND BAG X TOKENS (note, it has no undo function PLEASE be careful!!) and you can confirm the player has won by looking at their board and checking that their locked guess on the board matches the solution in the manual (or app where you can repeat their solution to verify).

c) If no player has ended the game, the Solution phase can be ended with 'End Solution Phase' and solutions on boards are unlocked again, and the End Game button is also hidden again.

5) Card boards can also be used to discard cards at the end of the round with the Discard button.

An example of the filled in Case List can be seen in this video if you're really having issues :

I played case 055339-Y and found a couple of errors. I got it from the app game database so I don't know for sure if the database is in error or if there is an error in the cards in the mod. It included cards 23, 169, and 199, but these three cards together prove a motive for someone who is not the murderer. These 3 cards should not all have been in the game. I also noticed that card 46 which indicated that no one was in one of the rooms at the time of the murder was not in the game, but should have been because it helped prove who was the murderer. It seems that at the very least card 46 should have replaced one of the other 3 cards. I don't have the physical game so I can't verify whether the card numbers in the mod are correct.

Love this mod! I'm trying to send you a PM, I think you have to accept me first.

Unsubscribe from the mod and resubscribe. If that doesn't work you might have to delete your cache. If they've downloaded to your machine incorrectly once, TTS won't fix itself automatically.

Is anyone else seeing black cards? Most are black although I do see some of them. Thanks!

Ahh, deleting the mod and re-subscribing fixed the issue!

Can you provide a video of this object reference error? I've just ran a case build through on latest and can't see any issue.

Case deck building appears to be broken. No matter which case I choose, I get a "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error.

thx, appreciate your feedback. I've added a bag with with all the decks for all the scripts in the rulebook. You can add it to the mod if you want

Also, i like simple hidden zones a little bit more than your hidden objects system. Makes it easier to share what your sheet looks like with everyone else at the end of the game. Kinda best part of the game for us. Good mod nevertheless

I'd actually been through and verified that I'd got every unique card in the game and in order, but I'd tagged 68 as a second copy of 62 in the description and that borks the script.
