What's this Mod about?

This mod focuses on the Saxon and Viking conflict, with combatants ranging from lowly commoners to soldiers to great heroes. Rebalanced gameplay, new units from the campaign added to multiplayer, recruitable heroes, and much more.

How Do I Play the Mod?

1.) Subscribe to the mod on the Steam Workshop
2.) Open Ancestors Legacy
3.) Click Singleplayer
4.) Click Mods
5.) Mouse over Total Conversions
6.) Activate the mod, make sure it says [ACTIVE] next to it
7.) Restart Ancestors Legacy to apply the changes
8.) Enjoy!

15 New Units

Peasant units, heroes, monks, siege equipment, cavalry. Each Saxon and Viking roster has 14 units at their disposal.

Recruit Heroes

Each faction has 4 recruitable heroes. Control the battlefield with terror using the Legendary Berserker, or annihilate your enemies at a distance using the Longbow Veteran.

Multiplayer and Skirmish Compatible

To play this mod in multiplayer, just make sure everyone has subscribed to the mod and it is activated in game before they join the multiplayer lobby.

Campaign Compatible

The mod does affect the campaign when enabled, but the changes can make the Viking or Saxon missions either much easier or much more difficult. It depends on the mission. Armor now requires a blacksmith before being bought, some campaign missions you are unable to build a blacksmith, as an example.

Rebalanced Gameplay

Even starts, rebalanced ranged units, spearman variants, more units, meaningful tiers, and wider unit choice at each tier. Previously unused and weak units now have a purpose. Peasants can be built from any house/tent in your base. Special hero units come from your Church / Worship Site. Explore new gameplay and master new strategies.

Turn the Tide with Healing Abilities

Saxon Monks can provide powerful health and morale boosts when protected behind the frontline, and the Wandering Grey Seer can heal and enrage allies while in combat.

Harder AI

The AI will now never run out of food, so they will fight at full strength the entire time. Insane AI is now the ultimate test of your skill.

Any Balance Feedback?

Balance feedback is welcome, and updates to balance will be coming if something is in need of tweaking.

Important Information

The Slavs, Germans, and Saracens are no longer balanced and are disabled. You will not be able to play as them if you select them, so do not select Random as your faction in the lobby to avoid being them. The More AI Food mod is already integrated into this one.

If I could mod, I would also like to remove the siege engines, and I would make the buildings incredibly tougher. I find it very strange that mere peasants throwing torches can bring down in mere seconds an archer tower made out of stone..

I highly doubt there will ever be a sequel.. Even though this game was well received and still enjoyed by fans, the sales were simply not great (for whatever reason). Devs seemed to have moved on to other projects for now.

just a little heads up your mods works great although if i want to make a civil war kinda skirmish which inculdes germans or any other faction other than vikings or saxons it costs 999 iron to build anything you able to go into the file and change this?

Thanks for getting back to me, although I'm a bit disappointed I understand and hope to play more of your work when AL 2 comes around. If I may be so bold can you be so kind as to tell me if there is a way to disable the siege engines ?

Hi kiuby, thank you and I am glad you are enjoying the mod! Means a lot to me. A lot of time and energy went into creating it. However I no longer mod AL, so no more mods will be coming. That is a very generous offer for creating a mod, but I will have to decline. I may jump back into modding once Ancestors Legacy 2 comes around :)

I firstly would like to say your mod is amazing and it brings so much to the game.
I would however like to put forward a proposition, I would like to pay you 200.00 pounds sterling if you can do the other factions as well but make a version without the siege engines.
