Prologue
Hey, Shantae Fanbase: Do you guys think we should make a guide for the location of all the Dream Squids in the Friends To The End DLC?
"What? No. Why the hell would we do that?"
Why, to help new players who want to achieve 100% completion, speed-run or neigh, of course.
"All right then, how's about this, newbie: Why don't you make that guide if it's so important to you?"

All snark aside, I'm rather surprised I'm the one doing this. The DLC's been out for a while now, you'd think someone would have made the guide for it. But the only guides I can find related to Friends To The End are a guide on the bosses and a guide to cheese the game. There isn't even anything in the Ultimate Edition's guides. So it seems guiding new players through collecting the Dream Squids falls to me.

Let's get started then.
World 1-1
The Squids in this world are easy to find. It's honestly hard to miss them.

The first Squid is located after the first wall of magic, past the point where you use Bolo to jump over a wall. You'll notice it above your head floating on a platform. To get to this Squid, you simply jump on top of the platform above the breakable stone block to the right. From there, you can either use Rottytops's head throw to jump over to it or throw a platform with Sky.

The second Squid is pretty close to this one. When you find the point where you need to use Bolo's grappling hook to swing past a Pincer, it's floating above the water at the corner of the wall.Simply swim over to it to collect it.

The final Squid is located by the end of the level, floating in the air past a platform with a vase. To reach this platform, you can either use Rottytops's head throw or use Sky's bird platform again. Then just jump into it.
World 1-2:
The first Squid is located at the top-left most point of the level. To reach it, you'll need to jump onto the platform the Tinkerbat's throwing molotovs at with Bolo.
Notice that hook? Latch onto it and swing to the left. You'll land on a platform that leads to another set of hooks.
Swing along those hooks and you'll find the Dream Squid.
The next Squid is located past the stairs leading back down. Instead of climbing down, however, use Sky's bird platforms to reach that platform with vases up there. This will lead you to the next Dream Squid, which you can collect using Bolo's grappling hook.
The Final Dream Squid is located near the end again, floating above a Naga on a platform.
To reach this Dream Squid, you just need to throw a bird platform and use Sky's glide to jump into it.
World 2-1
The first Dream Squid is located at the very edge of the second location, tucked away into a corner near the list of characters. You'll probably see it if you progress through the level normally.
Despite what you're probably thinking, getting this Squid is quite simple. All you need to do is jump off from the top of the ledge I have Rottytops on. As you fall, strafe towards the wall. When you fall into the water, you should fall under the wall, allowing you to swim into the Squid's room.
To get out, I'd suggest using Sky, as her glide can get you close enough to the wall that falling under it will be easy.

The nest Dream Squid is easier to miss, but it's nearby. Once you get on top of the higher platform, use Sky and Rottytops to climb to the very peak of it. You'll notice a Dark Magic Wall to the left. To get in, create a platform near the center of the slab under you to throw Rottytops's head through.
From there, you'll find walls that you need to smash with Bolo and another wall of Dark Magic, behind witch is the Dream Squid.

The final Dream Squid of this section is located near the top of the level. From the top left-most platform, you'll see a set of hooks that you can latch onto with Bolo's grappling hook.
Do this to cross to the other side of the level, where you'll find a solid hook to throw yourself into a room holding the Dream Squid.
World 2-2
Just like with World 2-1, the first Squid is located at the bottom right corner of the level.
Through this opening, you'll find a room with a wall of Dark Magic between you and the Dream Squid. Throw a platform with Sky to get Rottytops into the best position to throw her head through.
To get out, simply throw Rottytop's head to the left-most platform.

The second Dream Squid requires a bit of climbing, as it is located where you normally find the Bat Transformation in the main game. Once you get to the section where you climb up three tracts of hooks, head to the left end of the level. There, you'll see a platform just out of reach normally, which you need to use Sky and Rottytops to reach.
From here, create another bird platform to reveal a hook you can latch onto with Bolo.
Swing up to the platform above you and switch to Sky. Throw an egg up into the gap above your head and jump onto it. Use Rottytops the reach the next platform.
Continue to climb up through the Dark Magic walls and you'll eventually find the Dream Squid.

The final Dream Squid is easy to miss (And is one of the reasons I'm writing this guide). Climb up to the top right of the level, but instead of going into the next section, move towards the edge of the metal platforms. You'll notice a torch burning in the center of the level.
Use Sky to make a platform to get closer and then use Rotty to reach the Dream Squid.
World 2-3
Remember when I said the final Dream Squid from World 2-2 was one of the reasons I was making this guide?

Every Squid in this level is another.

The only tips I can give you for this level is to memorize its layout and use Sky's glide. You have no reason to use any of the other's here, and she's going to make getting these Squids the easiest. You're going to need good reaction time to get these Squids.

The first Squid is located at the end of the first jump. You don't have to worry about doing anything special here, you're more likely to get it by accident than you are to miss it.

The second squid is located after the second jump of the next set of gaps. However, it's closer to the center of the next platform, so you'll need to use Sky's glide to get it.
Once you get the Squid, though, kill the glide immediately and jump once you hit the platform.

The third Squid is located at the tail end of the level. After getting rid of the crocodiles, you'll be back to jumping over gaps. The Squid is hanging on the very end of the final jump.
World 3-1
The first Dream squid is just past the first pair of worms poking out of the ground. You'll see a hook above a pit of quicksand in front of a wall of Dark Magic.
The Dream Squid is on top of this wall. Use Bolo to swing up to it.

The second Dream Squid is located past the fourth worm, floating above a pit of quicksand.
To get up to it, make a platform with Sky and throw Rottytops's head onto it. The just jump into it.

The final Dream Squid is located past the next ScorpGal, under a platform above a pit of quicksand.
This one's pretty easy to get, just take care of that Cactus at the other side and jump into the pit. Mash the jump button to make sure you don't sink.
World 3-2
Did someone ask for a high-stress situation?
Seriously, getting all the Dream Squids in this level can be a little stressful, especially if you're making a guide for it like me. You'll need to be fast in this level. You can't dilly-dally for too long without Wilbur eating you.

The first Dream Squid is in the section past the first Archer. To get it, climb up the right most path, and you'll find it floating between that path and the middle one. If you want to avoid getting hit, you can smash the fire shooter with Bolo's flail.

The second Squid is located in the room with the Undead Knight, close to the exit into the next room, but on the other side.

To get it, throw a platform with Sky and glide over to it.

The final Squid is located in the room with the second Archer. Just like before, it's on the other side of the room from the usual path.
To get it, throw a bird platform with Sky to get Rottytops into the best positoin to throw her head over.
World 3-3
The first Squid here is located under the platform with the first Naga.
To get down there, continue right and use the provided hooks to swing Bolo over to it.

The second Squid is located above the Naga past the crumbling platforms with hooks.
At first, you might think you need to fling yourself with Bolo, but there's an easier way to do this. Kill the Naga, and then make a platform with Sky to throw Rottytops onto.
The third Squid is located under the platform with two Cactus enemies.
To get to it, head to the platform to the right of the Squid and use Rottytops to jump the gap.
World 4-1
This level is very linear, so the Dream Squids are pretty easy to find.

The first Dream Squid is located after the first air balloon, by a set of balloons with hooks. Best course of action is to use Bolo's grappling hook to latch onto them to collect it.

The next Dream Squid is located in the next air balloon section. Its at the top of the last one that's about to get shot down. All you need to do is jump into it, so you can do this with any characters.

(Sorry, these are the best pictures I have. You can just faintly make out it's glow in that second picture. I swear it's easier to see.)

The Final Dream Squid is located in the tunnel section. It's in a section where you need to swing from balloon to balloon with Bolo's grappling hook.

If you swing it right, you should be able to collect it as you jump to the hook I'm on now. If not, let the balloon rise and swing into it. You might take a hit, though, so be sure to have some hearts going into this.
World 4-2
The first Dream Squid is located through the first door you can find by jumping into an air ship.

This will lead you to a puzzle where you need to throw Rottytops's head through laser beams to get to the other side of the room.

The way I handle this one is I throw her head to the bottom right, then the bottom left, then I jump on that platform to the left, then I throw her head to the platform on the right, then throw her head into the Dream Squid room.

The second Dream Squid is located in the next room you can access, on the ship with lasers beaming down on it.

Going through this door, you'll enter a room where you need to throw Rottytops's head through more lasers.

The Dream Squid is at the top left corner.

The final Dream Squid is located in the fourth room you can access, with four consecutive laser beams hitting its ship.
Go through this door, and you'll find a room where you need to swing across with Bolo to reach the Dream Squid.
World 4-3
The first Dream Squid is located at the end of the first hallway after the first room. Above a set of platforms, you'll notice a hole in the ceiling.

Climb the chain and use Bolo to smash the crates blocking your path.

Create a bird platform with Sky to get to the door.

From here, you'll enter a room with a tower of crates and a laser in front of the Dream Squid.

Use Bolo to break the crates and then throw Rottytops's head through the laser. Then jump into the Dream Squid.

The second Dream Squid is located in the bottom left corner of the next large room. You'll notice a laser that you need to throw Rottytops's head through. You could go over, but this is quicker.

From there, fall down the platforms and enter Ammo Baron's personal spa or whatever. To get this Squid, you'll need to navigate the maze. Jump into the water and swim under the blue wall and platform.

Climb on top of the platform and use Sky's bird platform to find a hook you can latch onto with Bolo.

Swing up to another platform to your right, and use Sky's bird platform to get Rottytops into position to throw her head.

I would suggest throwing it to the left here, though. Gives yourself more room to work with. Once your up there, throw Rottytops's head through the laser.

Go down and latch onto a hook with Bolo.

Swing up and latch onto the next hook.

Climb up and throw a bird platform to the left of that floating platform. Then use Rottytops's head throw to get up there.

Climb up and continue left. You'll come across the Dream Squid eventually, and this will take you back to the start of the maze.

The final Dream Squid is located in the final large room. Jump onto a set of platforms floating above a pit of spikes, and you'll find it hidden in a smaller room. Throw Rottytops's head into this room to get it.

To get out, jump into the spikes.
World 5-1
So remember all of the other reasons I'm making this guide?

Add this whole level to the list.

Anyone who's played the main game can tell you this level is a maze with doors that don't line up. I like to call this place 'The Speedrun Killer' for this reason. While a Shantae fan by the name of twig made a map of it on his blog, 'twigstechtips,' made a map of the whole place, which door leads where has been completely changed. So I took it upon myself to create a map to help you all navigate this place.
All empty rooms most likely hold vases, so if you need more gems, go there.
World 5-2
The first Dream Squid is located past the first Boneleg and crumbling platform, floating up in the air near a block of spikes.

To collect this Dream Squid, throw a bird platform up high and use Rottytops to get up to it.

The second Dream Squid is located after the next grappling hook session with Bolo. You'll find it floating above a bottomless pit next to a platform.

To get this Squid, throw a platform with Sky and activate it when it gets along the Squid's level. Then, just jump onto the platform.

And now we get to the final reason I'm making this Guide. The last Dream Squid is located at the very end of the level, right on top of the exit. You're likely to miss this one if you don't keep your eyes open.

To collect this Dream Squid, throw a bird platform with Sky and then climb up to it with Rotty.
World 6-1: Bolo
Welcome, ladies, gentlemen, and everyone in between and beyond, to the Nightmare Realm. This world promises to live up to its name, especially for any of us seeking a 100% Speedrun. Timing is so precise, you'll swear it's pixel perfect. One wrong move, and it's instant death. Checkpoints are sparse, and the difficulty is enough to make any man swear.

If you think collecting the Dream Squids in this place is hard, imagine making this guide. I employ you, people, pray for me.

The first Dream Squid is located around the mid-end point of Bolo's first platforming section, floating high above a platform next to a hook.

To get this Squid, you're going to need to latch onto the next hook and swing back to jump up high enough to collect it.

The second Dream Squid is located in the middle of the next hook section. Where two hooks come to meat, you'll see it floating below the spiked ceiling.

You can get it as you jump from one hook to the other, but you're going to need to be careful. Too much swing, and you'll throw yourself into the spikes. Not enough swing, and you're going to miss it, which will severely impact your speedrun.

The final Dream Squid is located at the very end of the stage, floating above the exit doorway.

To get it, you'll need to jump off the hook with enough swing to reach it.
World 6-2: Rottytops
The first Dream Squid is located near the end of the first section, floating above a small platform beneath a block of spikes.

To collect this one, you're going to need to continue to the next platform, then throw your head over to it. Stand at the very end of the blocks for this.
Once you get over, give it a little hop. Just lightly tap the jump button to get it.

The second Dream Squid is located at the end of the second section, hidden in the corner of the room by your health bar.

To get this one, prepare to throw Rotty's head straight up and wait for the platform above you to cover the spikes. As soon as it starts to move out of the corner, throw Rotty's head. If you time it right, her head should land on the platform.
From there, jump into the Dream Squid

The final Dream Squid is in the middle of the next section. After throwing yourself from moving platform to moving platform, you'll see it floating above you next to a thin platform.

To get this one, continue right onto the block pillar, and throw your head onto the thin platforms. Surprisingly, this is one of the easiest Squids to get.
World 6-3: Sky
The first Dream Squid is located at the end of the first section, hidden away up on a higher level.

From what I can tell, you can't get this one as you glide over to the exit. So instead, throw a platform from the edge of the exit hallway.

This will allow you to climb up to the Dream Squid.

The second Dream Squid is located near the end of the next section, floating high up next to a wall of spikes as you stand on a floating platform.

Getting this one is super tricky, but I've figured out the timing. When the platform is moving to the right, throw a bird platform when you're under the Squid. Use this to jump into the Dream Squid.

You can create your platform when the dark platform's moving left, but it's way trickier.

The very final Dream Squid is located in the middle of Sky's hook section, floating above a bottomless pit over a moving hook.

Continue right and you'll find a moving platform.

As soon as you jump onto this platform, turn around and create a bird platform above the last hook. This will let you glide into the Dream Squid.
Done
There you have it. All 48 Dream Squids. I hope this guide was helpful.
