After playing the game for a long amount of time, you’re not really looking forward to events anymore - they become boring. We have decided to come up with a reason to once again get excited when a colourful pop-up shows up in the right corner of your screen.

Vanilla Events Expanded adds several new events to the game, all in line with vanilla events - nothing too drastic. A new tier of events is added - Purple events. Instead of having strict negative or positive effects, purple events force players to adapt as they last significantly longer than events like Toxic Fallout or Volcanic Winter.

Purple events are extremely rare, and can only occur after 3 ingame years pass. They can last between 15 days and 120 days. Their minimum time before repeat is 300 days. Favorability is VeryBad. Chance is 0.04 (⅓ chance of a Volcanic Winter, which has the lowest chance in vanilla game). Category is Big Threat.

This mod also allows you to disable events added by this mod and any other mod, so feel free to use it to get rid of events you dislike!

Removing the mod whilst any event is active will break the event. Please use the menu in the Mod Options ingame to turn off the events.

Weapons cargo pods sometimes drop Turret-Tops, which will disappear as soon as they are picked up. We are looking into fixing this.

Q: Can this mod be added to an existing save?
A: Yes it can!

Q: I don’t like a particular event. How do I disable it?
A: We have added a mod options menu that allows you to disable any and all events if you so desire.

Q: Can I suggest a feature?
A: Absolutely, leave a comment down below!

Q: Will you keep updating the mod with new events?
A: Yes, that is part of our plan. Periodically, we will add new, interesting events - both local events and world map events!

Q: Can you add any world map events?
A: We are looking into potential options, yes.

Q: These events are super OP!
A: Bear in mind we tweaked the occurrence chance of the events according to how big of an impact it can have. We will constantly tweak the values, so be sure to leave us some feedback!

Q: CE compatible?
A: yes.

Q: Can I disable specific event?
A: Yes! In mod options you can alter the chance for events to appear - even lowering them to 0!

@BeeKing

I had to check documentation for why SOS2 and VEE aren't compatible, and it's just immersion breaking at the most, they work fine together with caveats. Basically, psychic rain will appear in space and also the wandering animals will show up...in space. Which means the archo animals (super powerful) wander in for free, and that breaks the game.

Thankfully someone's made a compatibility patch so psychic rain can't be a thing in space and wandering animals are completely banned, so enjoy.

Any way to get this working with SOS2?

@Crimson if it's crashing when he tries to disable that means there's a problem. Since not everyone is saying that in the comments simply saying it's crashing without providing a log to show why it's crashing for him is pointless though. Modders aren't clairvoyant, they can't possibly guess which of the possible thousands of other mods he's running to figure out what might be causing a crash on his end.

The guy has every right to complain if a mod that had no warnings about an extremely long term negative event taking place that WILL end up ruining his playthrough without a way to disable it without crashing, there is absolutely no reason to fault the user for downloading a bugged mod from a mod page, that's like a person for getting food poisoning from a restaurant telling them "well it's your fault why did you eat at a restaurant! ... I don't know... MAYBE BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT RESTAURANTS ARE THERE FOR ???

And no, I checked the description twice, nowhere does it say "warning:this mod can unfairly and absolutely obliterate your playthrough with (forever psychic rain)", he wouldn't have complained if his game didn't literally crash whenever he tries to disable the event, is that also a mod feature??

@Hayrock, I'm literally not, but OK.
He's complaining about an event which is listed in the description, where they explain what that event does and it's inherent difficulty. He chose to install the mod and then complained that event ruined his experience.
By your own "you're the type of person" logic, that's like seeing it's raining outside and then choosing to go outside and complaining you got wet. Especially since that event can be turned off.

You're literally the kind of person who likes unfinished games and then responds to players who complain with: 'But there are mods!! Stop whining.

Lol, "Nobody asked you to download it," put yourself in his shoes instead of replying like an idiot. How could he have known that it would cause that? Imagine your mother knits you a hat. Then a few days later, because of that hat, you get bedbugs. "Well, you shouldn't have accepted the hat."

No one forced you to install this mod.
In the mod settings you can literally disable any of it's events if you don't want them to trigger.
If the game crashes when you try to end an event, post a log in their bug form.
