Step 1 - Download and Extract
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Win = If you're using a Windows PC
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀OSX = If you're using a Mac
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Linux = If you're using Linux
  • Select one of them and download it.
⠀
  • After you've downloaded the file, create a new folder somewhere and extract the files into it using any extraction tool of your choosing (Windows File Explorer, Winzip, Winrar, 7zip etc)

Step 2 - Configuration
  • After you've extracted the files, open the folder and look for a file called "ConfigGenerator" and open it.

  • A website looking like this should show up, select "Bot", fill in the first 3 lines and click the Enabled button as shown in the picture.
    - If you have Family View enabled i recommend you fill in that aswell. If you have Family View enabled and dont fill it in, it may prompt you when you launch the program.

  • Click "Toggle advanced settings"
    Scroll down a bit and you'll see "GamesPlayedWhileldle", in that box you write "753" and click add. Then click on "FarmingPreferences and select "FarmPriorityQueueOnly" then click add.

    - If you only wish to idle steam trading cards before you idle steam, set "FarmingPreferences" to "None". Or if you wish to idle something else than steam you can replace "753" with one of these unique AppID's: Link to unique Appids[pastebin.com] You can also idle any specific game by visiting the game on the steam store and use the AppID from the link instead, its the numbers that comes after "/app/" in the website link.


    After that you simply click download.
Step 3 - Setup and finishing
  • After you've downloaded the file you copy/cut it and locate the ASF folder you created earlier, locate a folder named "config" and put that single file in there.

  • Now you're pretty much done, exit the config folder and locate the file called "ArchiSteamFarm.exe" and run it. If you have a Steam Authenticator you will be asked to enter it in the software.


⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀That's it, you're done. You should be able to idle steam as a game now ^.^

I get what youre trying to say, yes in theory possible using some older methods but it causes lots of issues, first your friends will be constantly spammed by you swapping games (games conflict) at random times, it may not count hours, it also causes lots of processing power and may tank your gaming performance, you can also get banned for it if you play multiplayer games, but you can use archifarm to farm up to like 30 games or so at the same time (if you dont play at the same time that is) which would be the better and easier option tbh. Anyway you can use the old idlemaster tech to do this, just google it and add specific games or something, youll find a guide on it :p

Interesting. makes sense. I wanted to basically use it like SAM. That you can open multiple and it doesn't affect the login or anything since its local and not an "external" rig. Thanks either way!

To my knowledge that is not possible, you can only play one game at the time, if you play an singleplayer game u could go into offline mode and play it then and let ASF idle while games while you do, i do not know if playing in offline mode will let you idle time on the offline game you are playing though.

Can someone help me to get this up and running to run Steam (AppID=753)?. I've been using ASF, but I want to be able to idle while also playing and using my account. Any ideas?

It works now but I don't want to farm the game, I just want to play Steam What should I do?
