Emporea's achievements are grindy and require lots of patience. They are way easier if you have money, but it is possible to get enough gems to do them without paying.

Introduction and some notes
Disclaimer: As of writing, I have acquired 538/572 of the achievements, and I consider it effectively 100%. As said, this guide is a work-in-progress and I update it if I feel like it. It is also a large task to cover, so not everything I have done has been covered.

"Greetings, warrior! You've taken on the immense task of completing achievements in the world of Emporea. Fear not! Help is on the way."

Emporea boasts 572 Steam achievements, rendering it one of the biggest achievement-games on Steam (well, except for the now-numerous spam achievement games). If you're into achievement hunting, it is usually one of the big score games on the various achievement tracking sites.

Before you begin, there are two things to note:

Achievement progress is tied to a game world

There are several tiers (one to five) to each achievement, so if you want to get the highest tier achievement, you still have to work the progress from the beginning in each game world.

As an example, the highest tier of Potion Drinker requires you to consume 500 potions. These all have to be drunk along the course of a single game world (98 days if you start a regular world from the beginning).*

Broken achievements

Alas, Emporea has several broken achievements. There are at least 30 of them, and probably it's as many as 31. Game also has a tendency that sometimes achievements get bugged and don't award properly (I have 3 likely cases of these). To avoid this, make sure Steam is online and avoid doing things that might award you several achievements at the same time.

I intend to provide a list of the broken achievements at the end of the guide.

Effect of Race and World
Race achievements

When inspecting the achievement list, you will notice several race-specific achievements.

These achievements are identical for each race but they have to be completed separately for all of them. Thus, you need to play at least 4 realms to get all of the common ones. There's plenty of opportunity for this because of the Gauntlet achievements.

The Gauntlet achievements are special in that you need to play a realm to completion as a lvl 70 member of a specific race. There are 5 tiers to this achievement, one per playthrough. Thus, you need to play at least 20 realms to completion to get all of them.

Event achievements

Many achievements in Emporea are tied to certain special events. These are timed events that happen every 2 weeks and usually last for a week.

Events happen simultaneously on all game worlds. Because of this, not all of the worlds have time to host all events.

You can see the list of events hosted by your game world by looking at the calendar. In the Steam / browser version it is located in the top-left corner of the chat window that is in the bottom-left corner of the screen.

Gemming, or how to avoid pay-to-win
Common race achievements
These achievements are duplicates, with one for each race separately. Each tier grants one achievement.

Hero level achievements



#: 5 achievements per race, total 20
Conditions: Get to a certain level as a member of a specific race.

Tiers:

I: Get hero level 5. This is the entry level achievement, probably one of the very first ones you earn starting the game or playing as this race.

II: Get hero level 50. This requires a tiny bit of dedication, playing for maybe a week or two.

III: Get hero level 70. This requires some active playing. Also, this is the level you need to get an additional achievement (for Ragnarok) at the end of the world, so this should be your minimum target.

IV: Get hero level 100. In principle, playing every day from the start of the world should get you to at least lvl 100.

V: Get hero level 120. The ultimate level. Well, actually there's no maximum level in a strict sense, but this is the highest one you need for the hero achievements. Playing every day should be enough to get you to level 120. Be mindful of the daily quests, because they usually grant the most XP.

Army upkeep achievements


#: 5 achievements per race, total 20
Conditions: Have a certain upkeep of troops while playing as a specific race.

Maximum army upkeep is affected by 4 attributes:
  • Your palace level: 1000 uk/level
  • The level of your upkeep buildings: 250 uk/level
  • The level of your Statue of Snake: 300 uk/level. This is a special building available only from Sinister Snake event.
  • Your hero upkeep bonus. This is the sum of the boni from your hero skills, artifacts, title bonus and alliance altar level. It adds a direct multiplier to your total max. upkeep.

However, the achievements are awarded when your recruited upkeep reaches the required level. Especially for the 110k achievement, there's a trick to reach this sooner than max. upkeep allows.

Tiers:

I: Get upkeep to 5k.
II: Get upkeep to 20k.
III: Get upkeep to 35k.
IV: Get upkeep to 45k.
V: Get upkeep to 110k.

For the fifth tier, you would generally need palace level 15, which costs a total of 315 air (V) runes, and all your upkeep buildings to level 22 or higher, while also being part of an alliance with altar level 35 or higher. Statue of Snake helps tremendously if you can get it to a high level.

If you're not quite at 110k max. upkeep, you can use the hourglasses to get an even higher recruited upkeep. Hourglass event typically resumes near the end of the world. Recruit your troops to maximum (they only need to be in recruitment, no need to be finished) and make sure you have 10 hourglasses ready and at least the tier 4 unit researched, because then hourglasses may grant tier 5 units. Then use all 10 hourglasses. If you are lucky, you'll get a few thousand or even 10k more upkeep over the limit, gaining the achievement.

Gauntlet achievements



#: 5 achievements per race, total 20

These are simple achievements that take an extreme amount of time. For them, you have to finish the game world as a lvl 70 hero while playing as a specific race.

Tiers:

I: Finish a game as a lvl 70 hero or higher once.
II: Finish a game as a lvl 70 hero or higher 2nd time.
III: Finish a game as a lvl 70 hero or higher 3rd time.
IV: Finish a game as a lvl 70 hero or higher 4th time.
V: Finish a game as a lvl 70 hero or higher 5th time.

There are currently 7 regular game worlds running at the same time, each lasting 98 days. It typically takes about a month or two to get to lvl 70 unless you spend a lot of gems, of course depending on your activity. After reaching lvl 70 you're good to go for this achievement.

Note that the achievement is rewarded after the final boss fight. To be sure, get lvl 70 before the fight against Xoggoth ends, as I'm not sure whether you can get the achievement by getting to lvl 70 on the day after.

Occasionally, perhaps every two months, a special world with some special rules is hosted, lasting only 28 days. In these almost everything, including leveling, is 3x faster. Playing these may speed up gaining the gauntlet achievements.

In any case, you need to play 20 worlds to completion. Therefore, this could be done in a year but for most it'll take longer, as it's pretty exhausting to play on several worlds at once.
Arena achievements
Arena is a place that opens when you reach lvl 10. It's a place, where you choose an opponent of 3 options and then a fight is simulated. If you win, you gain a better rating. Likewise if you lose, you lose rating.

After unlocking Arena, you get one Arena ticket every 2 hours, or reshuffle the opponents after one hour.

There are two types of arena achievements: race-specific arena rating achievements and the win-streak achievement.

Arena rating / Gladiator achievements



#: 5 achievements per race, total 20

When you first start doing fights, there's lots of change in rating with wins and losses. But later on, the rating changes much less. Reaching 10000 requires winning quite a bit more than losing, as well as using most of your arena tickets.

For winning fights, it is important to keep your palace and upkeep buildings at a high level and keeping the recruited upkeep maxed. In the early and mid-game it is also useful to have the troops from Fire Commando and Ice Commando spells, as they may give you a decisive edge. Late-game their importance gets lower, unless you have flamekin or frostkin necromancy skill and can store lots of elementals for later use.

Tiers:

I: Reach rating 2000.
II: Reach rating 4000.
III: Reach rating 6000.
IV: Reach rating 8000.
V: Reach rating 10000.

Rating 6000 should be reachable easily in a normal game where you play actively, using your CP every day and getting stronger. Rating 8000 is not much harder, you just have to use some more for the upkeep buildings. But rating 10000 needs some dedication, as you need to be somewhere in the ranks 100-200 minimum (to be strong enough) and still win most fights. This does not require any gems though, but obviously if you spend some and buy stronger artifacts it will be even easier to win the fights.


Arena Champion achievements



#: 5 achievements

Tiers:

I: Win 10 arena fights in a row.
II: Win 30 arena fights in a row.
III: Win 50 arena fights in a row.
IV: Win 100 arena fights in a row.
V: Win 300 arena fights in a row.

This is a tricky set of achievements, especially the last one. To win 300 times in a row you have to be either very strong or very patient. Or both, for that matter.

This is difficult to do in the early game, because the rating might not tell much about an individual player's strength. Also, race bears more important effect in the beginning than towards the end, as e.g. the base troops of the undead and elves are weak compared to the ones of orcs and dwarves.

I'd suggest trying for the last tier sometime in the mid- or late game. Some tips and tricks include:
  • Before starting a fight, max out recruited upkeep. Remember to remove all the fallen before so you have only good troops.
  • Remember to wear your battle gear instead of artifact/rune/raiding gear.
  • Only fight players with green ratings throughout. If no such options exist, wait for the reshuffle.
  • If you see a player with only fallen troops in their army, choose them. You are bound to win, if your army is alright.
  • Be wary of players in the top alliances - looks (green ratings and all) might deceive! Top altars give much more upkeep, so if the player just moved, they've essentially got an upgrade.
  • When new runes appear, quickly upgrade so you won't fall behind.

The green ratings is not a fool-proof thing. First time around I had to start over again because I fought a green rating player in my own (reasonably strong) alliance. Don't let your guard down!

Raiding achievements
This is a set of achievements that can be done with any race.

Raiding achievements include raiding a set number of neutral camps (of certain difficulty), a set number of Portals (of certain difficulty), a set number of Fortresses, a set number of Forbidden Temples, and a set number of Cities.

The camp raids require only to expend a number of command points (CP). Portals only require activity (and lots and lots of patience), though with the higher difficulty ones you might need to rebuild troops. Cities require you to attack other players, so there's a chance of losing, and forts and temples require winning, though you will usually get your CP back after the attack (unless the enemy defended successfully).

#: 4 tiers of achievements

Woah, this is a hard one. But do not despair! There is a number of ways to do this. But first some basics.

Tiers:

I: Drink 50 potions.
II: Drink 150 potions.
III: Drink 300 potions.
IV: Drink 500 potions.

Each level of potion is considered for the combined amount of potions required to create that potion. So, a lvl 2 potion counts as 2, lvl 3 potion as 4, lvl 4 potion as 8 and so on.

(# of potions = 2^(potion lvl - 1), if you know basic calculus)

For tier IV you need 500, which is a massive number. Potions are dropped randomly at camps, as arena rewards, and chest rewards. You may also buy them from the market.

Additionally, on special Hades servers there are special potions that you get from quests, doing the daily events etc. You can accumulate a lot of them, so you might reach a high number of drunk potions from that. I haven't done the analysis for that though.

A few ways to grind potions

  • Use CP to attack as many neutral camps and portals as possible. You'll gain a large amount of potions this way.
  • Become strong. There's a potion reward from the first two boss fights (pending: have to check what's the exact amount but I think they are lvl 5 and lvl 6 potions, perhaps 3 or 4 of them), so part of the requirement is covered there.
  • Become even stronger. Arena fights tend to give better rewards for winning than losing.
  • Be rich. People sometimes sell useless potions on market for ridiculously low prices. You could get a lvl 3 for 50 gems. Typically a good price is about 25 gems per potion level and if you can find something cheaper that's even better.
  • Some events contain relatively good ways to get potions. So you could better your chances by playing on a server with one of the events that give potions reliably by using event items. These include:
    - Return of the Fire Dragon. In RoFD event camps drop an item called Burning Chest, with the Hard camps (costing 3 CP to attack) always dropping one. These chests contain a lvl 1 potion with 20% chance.
    - Lord of Darkness. LoD has you open coffins with keys found in the event camps, and Hard camps (costing 3 CP to attack) always drop a key. Four (4) keys opens a Robust coffin that gives one lvl 1 potion, and 15 keys opens a Luxury coffin that grants one lvl 4 potion (i.e. worth 8 potions for the achievement).

I think the simplest way to get this would be to play well, starting on a server with some of the reliable potion events like Return of the Fire Dragon, save CP with fort attacks for that, and then go crazy on the event camps. As a bonus, you can probably gold the event too if you save enough CP for it. Afterwards, if you're short a few potions, buy them on the market before the market closes for the final boss fight on day 94.
General information about Event achievements
Each major event lasts for a week. Christmas event typically lasts a few weeks and doesn't necessarily stay the same each year.

Typically, events have 3 or 4 different types of achievements from the below list:
  • Completing the event quests (always 3 tiers)
  • Having X special units in army
  • Killing X special units
  • Raiding camps X times
  • Finding event items X times
  • Forging X event items
  • Using X event items

Naturally, some of these are easier than others. Killing creatures can be done with spells and is easy further into the world, when you have lots of mana and powerful enough spells. Raiding camps always requires command points (CP) and is expensive business, so either save up or pay up. Finding event items is even more expensive, because there's usually a chance to *not* find the item while still expending CP. Forging or using items or getting special units requires either CP or gems buying the required items off the market, while some special units can only be found from special camps.

Usual free-to-play way to handle events is to start in a world, where the event you're aiming for is close to the end, then saving all CP you can by joining fort attacks (they always grant 1 CP to your inventory if you win). If you have access to the spell Let's Fight (which grants 1 CP per casting, more if you have 100% or more self-spell effectiveness) and 100% spell recovery rate, you can use it to pump up more CP and save them up as well.

Typically, to gold an event you need several hundred CP stored and an active alliance to play with (if the event quest lines require clicking allies).

For the moment, refer to this wiki[emporea.fandom.com] for the requirements of the events. More detailed stuff about specific events will come later below when I have time to type it all up.

Event: Call for help - Part I: Event achievements and quests


This event hosts four types of achievements:
  • Complete event questline with difficulty X, one achievement for bronze, silver, and gold questlines.
  • Find a number of totem fragments in the event camps, four achievement tiers with increasing numbers.
  • Kill infested (or infected) worms, the enemies in the event camps, five achievement tiers with increasing kill counts.
  • Use a number of Totem Relics attacking the Wormhole camps, four achievement tiers for increasing numbers of attacks.

In this section I consider the event quest lines.

I refer to Emporea's wiki page for the event Call for Help[emporea.fandom.com] for the questlines.

Call for Help quests

Like usual, each event completion achievement is gained by completing the questlines (of different difficulties) for the event. For reference, the bronze questlines (copied from the wiki) are as follows:

How to do it, what is needed?

Call for Help is one of the more expensive events to complete. This is because of the Purchase quests in A.5. but particularly for the quests B.4. and B.12.

Most quests are simple. Your temples need to be good enough to get a couple hundred mana (easy in mid- to late-game). You also need to have enough CP to attack the camps needed for the quests. The quests for experience are simple and can be supplemented by doing daily quests with exp rewards.

Sort of tricky are the quests for having stone giants. In all likelihood, if you complete the camp attack quests you should have enough Living Stones to get them. To not accidentally lose them, put them to defend a friendly Forbidden Temple (with infinite protection) and keep them there until the end of the event.

To forge a Red Totem, you need one of each of its parts. You gain a random part with a 75% chance from medium camps (lvl 21-40, cost 2 CP) and 100% chance from hard camps (41-60, cost 3 CP). You can also gain Red Totems by making them at the Alchemist, for which you need an active alliance to provide the ingredients. Finally, you can also buy both parts and whole Red Totems at the market for gems and (rarely) gold.

If you are going to complete the event, instead of buying the cheapest stuff available you could complete the Purchase quests by buying the Red Totems/Totem parts from the market, at least partially. Because you need 30 for the bronze tier B.12. quest (and even more for silver and gold), this is usually cheaper than buying the needed CP for camp attacks, unless you have managed to accumulate some ridiculously large number of CP (like 1000+) in your inventory before the event.

The bare minimum CP count required for the Bronze event (without purchases from the market and with great luck) is about 400 CP. A more realistic number is 500-600 CP, since you might not get an even mixture of Totem parts in the camps. The number increases by 50-100 CP per difficulty tier.

Event: Call for Help - Part II: other event achievements
Totem Finder achievements

Extremely expensive achievement set, to complete this you need a huge number of stored CP or a large amount of gems to buy extra CP.

Tiers:
  • I: Find 15 totem fragments in event camps.
  • II: Find 50 totem fragments in event camps.
  • III: Find 200 totem fragments in event camps.
  • IV: Find 400 totem fragments in event camps.

According to the wiki, there is a 75% chance to find a totem fragment in medium camps (Worm Hatcheries, lvl 21-40 camps, cost 2 CP to attack), and 100% chance to find one in hard camps (Ancient Trees, lvl 41-60 camps, cost 3 CP to attack). Additionally, you may find them in Portals with chances of about 5% (easy) / 7% (medium) / 9% (hard) /11% (very hard) per portal, depending on the camp challenge rating.

Let's do some math of how expensive the tier IV achievement is. To find 400 totem fragments in hard camps would require 400 attacks, costing 1200 CP. In medium camps it is slightly cheaper, as the expected number of dropped totem fragments is 3 fragments per 4 attacks, hence about 533 attacks (or 1067 CP used) would grant you 400 totem fragments.

That's still an extreme amount of CP for the highest tier achievement. To decrease the required number of CPs you could attack a large number of Portals. It is realistic to attack about 10 portals per hour, so constantly attacking Very Hard Portals would grant you about 1 fragment per hour on average.

If you're with an active alliance, you can also piggyback other players to Portals to quickly attack Portals. When a player is close to finishing a Portal, attack the same Portal. Each player has the same chance to find a totem fragment at each Portal, so it does not matter how many troops you send. I would suggest that if you piggyback to Portals, only send a minimal army (1-2 worth of upkeep) so you won't gain any resources or chances to runes/artifacts, as other players do not like it when they invest the time in Portal but someone else comes along and effectively steals the resources. By only sending minimal army you avoid this problem and everybody stays happy (well, unless the other player is really dense).

Event lasts for 6 days, so by attacking portals you may reduce the required number of neutral camp attacks by several tens or even over hundred. Nevertheless, it is still one of the most grindy and/or expensive achievements in the game.

Worm Killer achievements

This is, in my opinion, the easiest of the four achievement types. To do it you either need a lot of CP (to attack the camps) AND/OR powerful spells and lots of mana to cast them. A few red rune spells or event spells will be highly useful.

Tiers:
  • I: 100 worms.
  • II: 2000 worms.
  • III: 5000 worms.
  • IV: 8000 worms.
  • V: 12000 worms.

Basic strategy is to attack as many camps as possible and spell the rest of them.

When attacking, focus on camps lvl 40 or lvl 60 so you kill as many worms as possible. Each lvl 40 medium camp cotains 17 worms and lvl 60 hard camps 113 worms, respectively. The Wormhole camps (lvl 61, requiring 10 CP to attack) have 250 worms each, ideal for spelling. When attacking camps for the achievement you will want to focus on hard camps for optimal killed worms per CP.

When spelling, always check the camps first for whether there are enough worms in them so your spell doesn't go to waste.

Use the Totem Relic achievements

This is another expensive achievement to complete. It would be beneficial to do it in the same go as Totem Finder, as you need a lot of Red Totems (assembled from totem fragments) to do it, but you also need a hefty number of CP in addition to the Red Totems.

Tiers:
  • I: Use 1 Totem Relics when attacking Wormhole camps.
  • II: Use 3 Totem Relics when attacking Wormhole camps.
  • III: Use 5 Totem Relics when attacking Wormhole camps.
  • IV: Use 10 Totem Relics when attacking Wormhole camps.

Each attack to Wormhole camp costs 10 CP, so generally you would only attack them when you have the Totem Relic ready to use. The total number of Totem Relics required is 10 in Tier 4 and you need a total of 100 CP to do it. This is in addition to buying/crafting the Red Totems for the Totem Relics, which cost 10 Red Totems / item, though Totem Relics can be bought on the market for typically reduced rates.

Note that by completing the event (in each tier) you get a Totem Relic as a reward.

Pandora's Box, the prize for attacking a Wormhole camp with Totem Relic, is a rather desired object. If you're gemming, sell it for a lucrative sum of gems. If you're playing seriously (i.e. to kill/do high damage to Xoggoth), use it to give an edge against the boss and other players/alliances. The increased upkeep is a considerable edge against Xoggoth and useful in arena fights and battles against other alliances. Note also that you can switch it away after setting the troops to build if you have something stronger to equip otherwise.

Event: Lord of Darkness, Part I: Event quests
This event has three types of achievements:
  • Complete event quest line with difficulty X, one achievement for bronze, silver, and gold quest lines.
  • Have a number of Lords of Darkness units in your army, five (5) achievement tiers with increasing numbers, 60 Lords of Darkness being the highest tier.
  • Use a number of Ancient Relics, five (5) achievement tiers for increasing numbers of uses, highest tier being 400 Ancient Relics.

In this section I consider the event quest lines.

Lord of Darkness quests: How to do it, what is needed?

Like usual, each event completion achievement is gained by completing the quest lines (of different difficulties) for the event.

Lord of Darkness is expensive to complete but the exact cost is hard to estimate. This is mostly because of the "unlock coffin" quests in the event and for the fact that at all times you have 3 coffins to open but with random cost to open.

At start, there are one of each type of coffin, with costs 2, 4, and 15 keys each. After opening one coffin, the next one is determined randomly to be of one of the three types. The distribution of the appearing coffins is unknown to me at this time. Assuming it is truly random between the three types, then statistically you would pay 7 keys per coffin at average.

Only quest line 'A' requires opening coffins, two quests for each tier. Bronze quest line requires unlocking 4+7+9 coffins; silver quest line 5+10+12; and gold quest line 7+13+15, for a total of 82 for golding the event. With an average cost of 7 keys per coffin, this means you need (at average) 574 keys to beat the event, meaning roughly 1700 CP (or lots of gems to buy the keys off the market).

Note that golding the event requires 120 gargoyles in your army. This costs 1000 stone per gargoyle to buy and 1000 more stone to recruit them. When buying them, put them into a protected location (like a Forbidden Temple your alliance owns) to make sure they stay alive and you don't accidentally have them killed.

By opening the coffins, you will likely get enough Ancient Relics to do the quests that require you to use them. Opening Luxury Coffins (costing 15 keys) grants you Lords of Darkness (1 per coffin), so be sure to open a few of those to have enough when the quests require that (Bronze line requires 6 Lords of Darkness; Silver requires 14 but you get one from completing Bronze; finally Gold requires 24 but you get one from completing Silver). You might need to buy some Lords off the market or focus a bit more on the Luxury Coffins to gold the event.

Broken achievements
There are 31 broken achievements, at the moment.

The following achievements are broken because the game has been changed since they were available:

Gold digger, tiers 1-3
Woodcutter, tiers 1-3
Stone miner, tiers 1-3
Iron miner, tiers 1-3
Gold trader, tiers 1-3
Wood trader, tiers 1-3
Stone trader, tiers 1-3
Iron trader, tiers 1-3

These 24 achievements do not work because you used to be able to build and have several cities. Production was computed over all of your cities and (I presume) you could trade resources between these cities.

Goblin chest opener, tiers 1-5
This set of achievements is essentially broken because the in-game event where you could acquire Goblin Chests is no longer repeating nor available.

Eye of the Beholder, tier 1
Orc Unit Researcher, tier 5

Finally, these ones simply don't function properly.
- You should get Eye of the Beholder tier 1 for completing the said event at bronze level. This is fairly easy event to complete even without saving CP, so it is most likely broken.
- Orc Unit Researcher tier 5 should be reasonably easy because you simply need to play as orc, gather 30 purple runes, and research the Behemoth unit. However, this is shown as remarkably rare on Steam achievement list for such an easy achievement, so it has to be broken.

Dude, I've actually got everything I could (there's a bunch of "broken" things that cannot be gained because they have been removed or just do not work properly with Steam; also, a few cheevos got bugged for me).

Just, I kinda forgot about this guide, since there hasn't been much interest anyway.
