In this guide we discuss how to unlock the frame rate in order to benefit from G-Sync if you have troubles selecting frame rates in game.

Background
I recently got a GSync monitor and it's great, but Watch_Dogs apparently cannot reveal the refresh rate I want to run at.

In this guide I found out how to manually set the refresh rate, as well as resolution and other configurable variables, and give advice on where to set your frame limit.
Fix
Tell Watch_Dogs that you want to manually bump the refresh rate. First I'll tell you how to do it, and then I'll share some advice that's out there to get the best out of your machine.

Change the refresh rate
Use a file explorer (Win+E for Windows Explorer) to navigate to
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Watch_Dogs\<user-id>\GamerProfile.xml

Another way of doing the same is to simply navigate to My Documents, then go into My Games, then Watch_Dogs, then open the folder that's just a string of character.

From there you should have a folder with only one file in it called
GamerProfile.xml

Right click it and select "Edit"

In your given editor, search (Ctrl+F) for the phrase
RefreshRate
By default it should be "60", set it to your chosen refresh rate and save the file.

I have a 144Hz screen that overclocks to 165Hz. I set 141 or 162 respectively for my Watch_Dogs refresh rate based on information about G-Sync overdrive I found here https://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/173407/unsupported-resolution-of-watch-dogs

OK sweet, wasn't sure if it only applied to having gsync as a must. The reason I asked is I have a LG CX Oled and i'm running a 20 series card in my PC which doesn't have hdmi 2.1 and i'm using club 3d's displayport to hdmi 4k/120hz adapter to get the full 4k 120hz on the oled as because they don't have hdmi 2.1 i would normally only get 4k at 60hz. Great to know this will work just by changing the refresh rate in the xml file, cheers for confirming with me :) I shall give it a crack haha

Yep, good point. You're unlocking the refresh so I should edit this to reflect that

What happens if you don't have g-sync for example but you have a 120hz screen, will this still work?
