Story achievements - Leon's Story

Welcome to the City of the Dead


You will automatically get this achievement after missing a horde of zombies on the streets, when you reach Racoon Police Station:




Path to the Goddess


You will automatically get this achievement after putting 3 medallions to the monument and crossing the gate:





Never-Ending Rain
You will automatically get this achievement after inserting card on the parking:





Hack Complete
You will automatically get this achievement after Ada Wong's segment:

You will automatically get this achievement after rescuing Ada Wong:




A Hero Emerges
Complete Leon's story. You will automatically get this achievement after completing game on any difficulty.





Hardcore Rookie
Complete Leon's story on "Hardcore" game mode.

If you wish get this achievement in easier way, I recommend you play on Hardcore when you have Infinite Samurai Edge gun unlocked. To get this gun, you have to complete any scenario with S rank on Standard difficulty. How to complete scenario with S rank is in "Sizzling Scarlet Hero" achievement description in this guide.
Story achievements - Claire's Story
In Claire's Story you will get most of the same achievements as in the Leon's story, as 'Welcome to the City of the Dead', 'Path to the Goddess' and 'Never-Ending Rain'. Instead Ada Wong's segment, in Claire story appear Cherry's segment, where you can get 'Hide and Seek' achievement:


Hide and Seek
You will automatically get this achievement after complete Sherry's segment.


A Heroine Emerges
Complete Claire's story.


Hardcore College Student
Complete Claire's story on "Hardcore" game mode.

On Hardcore mode there are no autosaves. Apart from you can not just save a game using typewriter - you need have Ink Ribbon. Fortunately, in A scenarios there are a lot of them, almost next to each typewriter. If you wish get this achievement in easier way, I recommend you play on Hardcore when you have Infinite Samurai Edge gun unlocked. To get this gun, you have to complete any scenario with S rank on Standard difficulty. How to complete scenario with S rank is in "Sizzling Scarlet Hero" achievement description in this guide. In collectible section in this guide you can find Ink Ribbons' locations.
Story achievements - other

Grim Reaper
Complete "The 4th Survivor" extra mode.

To Unlock 4th Survivor Mode you have to complete Claire OR Leon's Story (A and B). After completing the 4th survivor achievement will pop up. Below is good walkthrough (thanks to http://www.VG247.com)

Basic achievements

The Basics of Survival
Combine two items together.

To get this achievements, you have to combine two items which could be connect itself. For example two green herbs or one red and one green herb could be connecting. As well you can combine two gunpowders or one basic gunpowder + yellow gunpowder. In inventory click on one of these items and then "combine", like below:




Customizer
Customize a weapon.

You have to upgrade any weapon. If you get any part of the weapon (for example larger magazine), just combine it:




Hip to Add Squares
Increase your inventory slots.

You can increase your inventory slots by finding Hip Pouch (bag) in below place (in West Storage Room):









That'll Hold 'Em
Use Wooden Boards to board up a window.

First, you have to find wooden boards, like the picture below:



Then, use wooden boards to board up window (there, where window isn't boarded):





A Vault-like Mind
Open a portable safe.

Probably everyone has a different combination. If you have portable safe in your equip, click on buttons in correct sequence. Lights must to turn on green in the order shown in the picture below. Check which button lights which lamp (I prefer write it on the sheet of paper), then click on it in the correct order:





First Break-In
Open a dial safe.

First, go to the West Office like below picture:



Then open the safe by next code: 9 (left), 15 (right), 7 (left):





A Waist of Space
Expand inventory slots to max.

Note: Possible to get only on an easy and normal difficulty level, because on "Hardcore" game mode amount of equip upgrades is smaller.

At the beginning of the game you get 8 slots in the inventory. You can maximize it to 20 slots (easy and normal level). Each Hip Pouch (bag) increases the equipment by 2 slots. To increase your equipment to the maximum, you need to collect 6 Hip Pouches. Below I present where and at what stage of the game you can find them. Your first upgrade invetory already have (look up 'Hip to Add Squares' achievement). The next ones (2nd and 3rd) you can find in these rooms:




2. In West Office you have to open the safe. Code is: 9 (left), 15 (right), 7 (left):




3. In Safety Deposit Room you have to open the 203th locker. Button (2) and (3) you find in portable safes (how to do that, look up 'A Vault-like Mind' achievement):






4. Next Hip Pouch you can find in Operator's Room (Undergroud Facility) in locker:






5. The next badge you can find in Workroom (in Sewers):



Before use the T-Bar handle on the valve in the Lower Waterway to open up a passage that leads to the Workroom Lift. Then take it up. Hip Pouch is located on a table:




6. The last one you can find in the Nap Room (Laboratory):



First of all, you have to using the Signal Modulator to turn on the power in the room. To do that, set your dialiser correctly (MUF), as in the picture below:



Then put the dialiser to the mechanism on the wall and get the last one bag:


Killing achievements

Eat This!
Counterattack with a sub-weapon.

You have to lead to a situation in which the zombie will attack you, then you must counterattack with a knife (space + LPM):





Don't Need No Stinkin' Gun
Defeat an enemy with a knife.

You must kill any enemy ONLY by the knife. If you give him damage partly with gun, partly with a knife, achievement won't pop up.


Zombie Roundup
Kill 3 enemies at once with a sub-weapon.

Very easy way how to kill 3 enemies at once with a sub-weapon (by one grenade). Good place where you can do that:

Like Skeet Shooting
Shoot a zombie dog or a licker out of the air.

To get this achievement I prefer shoot at dog, because it's probably easier. Just shoot at dog (prefer shotgun) when dog jump (it will be out of the air).


Bon Appétit
Shoot the grenade you fed to an enemy.

First of all, you must to have at least one grenade or flash grenade. Next, when an enemy throws at you (zombie or licker), throw grenade / flash grenade to his mouth (click space). Next shoot at his mouth.


Keep Their Heads Ringin
Paralyze a licker's sense of hearing.

The best option to get this achievement is throw to licker's mouth grenade / flash grenade, and then shoot at him (you will receive 'Bon Appétit' achievement at the same time). First of all, you must to have at least one grenade / flash grenade. Next approach the licker, and when he throws at you, throw grenade to his mouth (click space). Next shoot (preferably by shotgun) at his mouth.


Hats Off!
Shoot Tyrant's hat off his head.

To get this achievement just you have to shoot Tyrant's hat (head) from any weapon in such a way that the hat fell from his head:


Missable achievements

Treasure Hunter
Using the photo hints, find 2 hidden items.

First of all, you need Roll Film, which one you can use in the Dark Room. Roll Film is located in Workroom (Sewers) on the table:



Next, go to the Dark Room (1F) ale use Roll Film. You obtain two photos:



One secret place is located in Press Room (1F) in the drawer. You will receive 400x fuel to the Flamethrower.



Second secret place is located in S.T.A.R.S. Office (Chief gabinet) [2F] in desk's locker. You gain wooden box with part of Lightning Hawk (Red Dot Sight).




One Slick Super-spy
Possible to get only in Leon's Story. Easy guide how to beat Ada Wong's segment with only EMF Visualizer:

Remember:
- don't use the gun,
- don't use the flash grenades (as counter-attack of zombies),
- don't shoot at Mr. Racoon (!) - achievement won't pop up.


Young Escapee
Escape the bedroom within 60 seconds during Sherry's segment. Possible to get only in Claire's Story. Each player has another combination, but if you load the game, combination will be still the same. If you didn't get the achievement - just load autosave (click "continue").

Gotcha!
Defeat Stage 2 G using the crane only once. Possible to get in both stories.

1. At first, you have to inflict the monster some of injuries,
2. You can use the container only once - even if the monster died after one using of container, but you used it before - achievement won't pop up,
3. The best time to use the container is after the "The Crane might work!" text appears,
4. If you used a container and it didn't hit the monster, just load autosave.

In the Blink of an Eye
Defeat Super Tyrant with 5+ minutes left until detonation. Note: Possible to get in Leon's Story. Preferred assisted or normal difficulty level (especially assisted), because it's easier to defeat Super Tyrant. You have to kill him within 5 minutes from the moment when the clock starts.


With Time to Spare
Defeat Stage 4 G with 4+ minutes left until detonation. Note: Possible to get in Claire's Story. Preferred assisted or normal difficulty level (especially assisted), because it's easier to defeat the monster.

Frugalist
Just complete the game without using a recovery item.

You can't use any regenerating items, include all kinds of herbs (green, red, blue or their mixes), and a healing spray. Preferred assisted difficulty level - if you are hurt, after some time your health will be automatically regenerated.


Minimalist
Clear the game without opening the item box.

I prefer assisted or standard level difficulty. If you open the item box at least once - the achievement won't pop up. Just discard unnecessary items and collect all available hip pouches.


A Small Carbon Footprint
Take 14000 steps or fewer in one playthrough.

If you want to check how many steps you have done so far, during game press Esc, go to Records tab, scroll down at the very bottom and click "A Small Carbon Footprint". On the right side you will see your actual number of steps.


Leon "S." Kennedy
Complete Leon's story on "Standard" or "Hardcore" with an S rank.

After completing each story you get one of four rates: S+, S, A or B. To gain this scenario you need to complete Leon's story (A or B - does not matter) with S or S+ Rate. The S+ Rank is the highest rank you can get when finishing scenario. To get S rank, the only condition is time of completing story. Of course you can not choose Assisted difficulty mode, you have to complete story either Standard or Hardcore difficulty. Required times are as follows:

Standard difficulty:
  • Leon A: 3 hours 30 minutes
  • Leon B: 3 hours
Hardcore difficulty:
  • Leon A (Hardcore): 2 hours 30 minutes
  • Leon B (Hardcore): 2 hours
You can save a game as many times as you wish to get S Rank. If you want to complete story with S+ rank, there are 2 conditions more:
  • you can not use Infinite guns (only Combat Knife is allowed)
  • you can not save game more than 3 times
After completing story with S rank on Standard difficulty, you will gain Infinite weapon (Samurai Edge), Hardcore difficulty award you better gun: LE5 Infinite weapon.



Sizzling Scarlet Hero
Complete Claire's story on "Standard" or "Hardcore" with an S rank.

After completing each story you get one of four rates: S+, S, A or B. To gain this scenario you need to complete Leon's story (A or B - does not matter) with S or S+ Rate. The S+ Rank is the highest rank you can get when finishing scenario. To get S rank, the only condition is time of completing story. Of course you can not choose Assisted difficulty mode, you have to complete story either Standard or Hardcore difficulty. Required times are as follows:

You need 6 chess plugs to open the door in the Monitor Room. Two of them are already in plugins, so you need 4 plugs. If you find them (how to get the king and queen in the above video), set them as follows (Scenario A):

Main Power Room Switchboard Puzzle:

After Chess Plug Puzzle, you will have to turn on the power in the Main Power Room:



At the top of the switchboard you can see two meters with red lines on them. The arrows have to be in the red range to give the correct amount of power. To turn on power, just switch three switches: 1, 2 and 4:

Signal Modulator Puzzle

You will need to use the Signal Modulator three times:
1) the first time to open the Server Room & Low-Temp Testing Lab,
2) the second time to turn on the power in the Nap Room,
3) third time to turn on power in the Biotesting Lab.

1. To open the Low-Temp Testing Lab & the Server Room, go to the Lougne, set the modulator to MURF, turn the knobs as in the picture below and finally use it in Circuit Breaker:



2. To turn on the power in the Nap Room, go to the Nap Room, set the modulator to MUF, and then turn the knobs as in the picture below:



3. To turn on the power in the Biotesting Lab, go to the room next on Biotesting Lab, set the modulator to OSS, and then turn the knobs as in the picture below:

Dispersal Cartridge (Solution) Puzzle

In Drug Testing Lab use your Dispersal Catridge on Drug Synthesis Station.Your task is to fill the first vial (above the green button) to the level marked with a red line. Each vial has a different capacity. By changing their places and filling, you should get enough to reach the red line.

Cherry's Segment Puzzle:

First of all, you need to find the missing block that is in the teddy bear on the chair (just examine it). Insert the block into the puzzle and arrange the blocks in such a way that the figures adjacent to each other agree. Remember that each player has a different combination, but if you load the game, the combination will be the same. If you manage to escape the room within 1 minute, you will get 'Young Escapee' achievement. Example of puzzle solution:

DLC achievements
Hell of a Sheriff
Complete the No Way Out scenario. (No training mode).

This scenario is unlocked when all 3 DLC scenarios are completed (scenarios can be completed at training mode). As mentioned in description if you want get achievement you can not complete it on training mode. It's not easy, you for sure will need a little bit training to remember when zombies go out and from which doors. Some tips:
  • I don't recommend aiming in zombies heads. Important thing is you should kill zombies as soon as possible. Most unarmored zombies go down in around 5 shots on any part of their body. Don't go for head shots unnecessarily because if you miss it's a wasted shot. Previously I tried to always aim for the zombies heads, which wasted time especially if I missed. Not killing them fast enough would let them surround me.

  • use Sparkshots to kill armored zombies or pale zombies

  • especially at the beginning don't waste canisters - just kill zombie and let canister fall down. You can use them if several zombies are around or just attacking you from different ways

  • Shotgun - save it for killing the pale zombies quickly with 1 headshot Sparkshots - great for killing armored or pale zombies

  • Flamethrowers - good idea is use it in later game when doors just opens and several zombies go out, then run to the next door and use it again

The weapon upgrades for Claire is wrong.
Suppressor is in the underground stairs box, opened with the badge.
The extended mag is in the STARS office hiding place.

about the "Keep Their Heads Ringing" achievement, I got mine after i saw a licker in the ceiling and threw a flash grenade, no need to let it get you.
