Introduction
"Look out, here comes the Spider-Man!"

Welcome to my 3rd official Pinball FX 2 guide! This guide covers Spider-Man, which is supposedly the most RIDICULOUS game to get billions of points on. Below is a sample game of Spider-Man (score is OBVIOUSLY outdated).

Skillshot
"Bullseye!" - Spider-Man

Skillshots can appear at one of the three locations:
  • the Lower Right Scoop
  • the entry of the Right Orbit
  • or going directly into the Jets.

Successfully making a Skillshot awards 100,000 points. This value can be increased by 100,000 each time the hidden scoop is hit, above the jets. You won't see it, and it must go through the bumper area.
Basic Features
Kickbacks and Ball Save: Spell T-H-W-I-P to light one of the Kickbacks on either side of the playfield, depending on where the last letter was collected. They can also be collected as a reward from the Lower Right Scoop. Ball Save can be activated after a few more completions of T-H-W-I-P, as a P award from the SPIDEY Orbit, and as a random Mysterio Award.

SPIDEY Awards:
  • Spectacular Score! 500,000 points. 2 shots to activate.
  • Perfect! Ball Saver! 3 Shots to activate.
  • Incredible Jumps! The Jump Ramp is lit for Unlimited Millions. Times out if no shots are made within 15 seconds. 4 Shots to activate.
  • Deluxe Web-Shooters! I believe this completes an unlit of the Websling awards. Correct me if I'm wrong. 5 shots to activate.
  • Enhanced Strength! SUPER JETS. 100,000 points for each bumper hit. 6 shots to activate.
  • Yeah! Extra Ball! 7 shots to activate.

SPIDEY Awards start all over, starting with the S Award, either by draining or collecting the Extra Ball.

Websling Awards:

  • Celebrated Hero: 1,000,000 points awarded for 1st completion.
  • Aunt May's Dinner Party: Big points, starting at 200,000 (or more each time it is activated) and rises by 200,000 for each shot. Lasts 60 seconds. Requires 2 completions.
  • Extra Ball: Requires 3 completions.

Websling Awards do not reset until after your ball drains.

Combos/Spider Sense:

Combos award an increasing number of points per shot in the low-mid hundred thousands.

Spider Sense activates on the Rollover near the Left Flipper. Make the Right Ramp, the Hidden Scoop, or the Right Orbit to award the current value.

Extra Balls:

I think the maximum amount of Extra Balls is 5 (correct me if I'm wrong). Each Extra Ball thereafter awards 5,000,000 points.
Doc Ock
"Spider-Man, just what I wanted." - Doc Ock
"Funny, that's what kids say when they get my action figure for their birthday!" - Spider-Man

To activate this mode, just hit Doc Ock's Lair 2 times during normal play (or through the red Spider targets). Doc Ock will then start coming down the playfield; your goal is to push him back towards the top. To do this, you must hit the Center, Upper Left, and Upper Right Ramps. (WARNING - if he doesn't come down by 1 movement after the mode starts, you will get a Pitiful First Strike worth 200,000 points.) Make enough ramp shots corresponding to Doc Ock to complete the mode.

Odd stages: Just play as normal.

Even stages: AVOID HIS TENTACLES at the Left Ramp and Jets. These won't count against him, and will be tougher to beat. Just keep hitting the Center Ramp in this case.
Green Goblin
"Stay still! This will be quick." - Green Goblin

This mode can be started by shooting the Right Ramp 3 times (or by activating Start Stage through the Spider targets). The Goblin will then throw a pumpkin bomb onto the playfield, which will then get magnetized. Use your ball to knock it off of the magnet, and shoot the pumpkin at the Center Ramp or the Right Ramp, depending on wherever the Goblin is. (the Upper Left Ramp will NOT work in place of the Center Ramp).

Odd stages: 1 magnetized pumpkin bomb.

Even stages: 2 pumpkin bombs; both MUST hit the Goblin to complete the stage.

As you complete stages, there will be less time (until it can't be decreased any further), so make haste later on. If you drain your pinball, it'll relaunch, so act as if it is a free Ball Saver. If you fail, the pumpkin bombs will explode and make the ball go in a random direction.
Mysterio
"Ugh, you will pay for your arrogance!" - Mysterio

To start this mode, hit the captive ball on the upper playfield to make Mysterio appear at any of these shots:
  • Left Orbit
  • Upper Left Ramp
  • Right Ramp
  • Lower Right Scoop

Make the shot, and you'll get a Random Award. Do this process 2 more times. Hit the captive ball a 4th time to start the stage (or through the Spider targets). You will have INVERTED FLIPPERS, and must make these 3 shots within the time limit:

  • Right Ramp
  • Upper Right Ramp
  • Doc Ock Scoop

Fortunately, you will have Ball Saver for the duration of this mode, and the clock will reset for each successful shot. The time limit will decrease after each stage, like Green Goblin's does. There are no special effects for having odd or even stage numbers.
J.J. Jameson
"Bring me some decent pictures, Parker, or you. Are. Fired. FIRED, FIRED, FIRED!!!" - J.J. Jameson

To start this mode: You must not have anything lit at the Right Loop (i.e. Front Page Picture). Make that shot, and this will automatically start the mode.

This will act as the Hurry-Up of the game. Shoot the Right Orbit to collect the value. Don't wait too long to collect it, or J.J. will make you start the mode again via the Right Loop. The time limit (seen at the beginning of the mode) will get shorter as higher stages are reached.
Final!
Shoot the Doc Ock Scoop to start the Final Phase of the game. Each corresponding shot (J.J. = Orbits/Loops, Mysterio = Captive Ball, Doc Ock - Upper and Center Ramps, Green Goblin = Right Ramp & Lower Right Scoop) is worth a decent amount of points. You have 35 seconds to score as many points as possible. The time will not decrease if activated many times throughout the game.

WRONG. DO NOT DO THIS. Instead, lock 3 balls at Doc Ock. Each lock will reset the timer. Doing this activates the real Wizard Mode: Clone Chaos.
Clone Chaos
"Oh great. Clones." - Spider-Man

The BIG ONE. This one mode you were going for all game. And now you finally reached it. Points from each mode are combined to make most shots Jackpots for this 4-ball multiball. Ball Saver and Kickbacks are really helpful for making multiball last. (Yes, you can collect J.J. Jameson, as well as Front Page Pictures, SPIDEY, Websling, and Random Awards, but not from Mysterio.)

Clone Chaos ends as soon as 3 of the 4 balls drain, and normal play resumes.
Final Thoughts
Front Page Picture:

This is awarded from the Right Loop when you defeat any enemy, with a certain amount of points.

Random Awards:

They can range from random scores, Ball Saver, lighting the Kickback, or activating a Websling Award.

Yes, you can fight 2 or 3 enemies at once. However, this is tougher than normal, and I wouldn't recommend doing this. (What is this, some sort of club meeting?)

But yeah, Clone Chaos is where the points are. If you get to higher stages in a game, then shots made in Clone Chaos will be making your score go through the roof. Hope you enjoyed reading my guide! (7.396 billion on this table RIGHT NOW.)

EDIT: I forgot just one thing - that is, if you've played the Terminator 2 table. If you hit J.J.'s Loop during his mode, or Doc Ock's scoop during his mode, a message will appear on the DMD, saying "GET OUT". Arnold says that when you shoot the lower scoop in Terminator 2, after the CPU Award.

Not sure about this, but that Green Goblin has his timer minimized when he goes to level 8, which turned him into a freaking brickwall for me today. I got like 800m with my first ball, did Wizard mode twice (because I am still learning I can't keep it up forever) and then wanted to get to wizard mode again, but no... no, no, no, that guy got me pinned down, he never even once dropped single bombs from level 8 on, always 2 bombs and like 10 or less seconds on the clock.

The only points that pushed me over the 1.000m was basically collateral scoring from trying to grind him, to just get that wizard mode going again.. Any advice would be highly appreciated, because I just can't seem to get shots aligned properly given the way he drops the balls...

If you have an nVidia card, try setting vSync to Adaptive. If that causes input lag for you, set Maximum Pre-Rendered Frames to 1. Not sure what the equivalents would be for AMD.

Bug is still there :( and pray tell what do you do if your settings are already maxed out. just tried that, no difference, it seems to be when that red light activates up there for a skill shot..

With help from the community, a solution for the bug seems to be found:

If the bug occurs for you, then your framerate is to high.
Change the graphic-settings of your videogame higher so that the framerates go down.
Maybe you can set them to full, and try the game. If it gets slow, reduce ir, until the game runs smooth and the bug don't occurs.

This has worked for me.

Thanks to the community.

I'm not the only one with this bug. I found other players withthe same problem at the bugs-thread also.

Sorry, folks, but this table is unplayable. It has a major bug. The ball get lost somewhere in one of the middle holes on the upper site, I think. Goes in. Never comes back. Pinballmachine makes noises like it tries to kick the ball back, but - alas - the ball seems to hang somewhere in one of the tunnels up there.

I do have other guides for FX 2. Look in my profile. I tried to make guides for all types of players.

Do you have any other guides? And is there a table that is good for beginners?

Not long. I've learned from other professional players on how to play pinball correctly, mainly from Tutorials from PAPA.
