Introduction
In life there is some obvious things thats goes without saying. You might think that, since they are so obvious, everybody know theses things. How wrong you are! It's recently happen to me to watch some people who streamed killer gameplay (with hundreds hours of experience), and strangely enough, who seems to be unaware of the obvious/basics strategy which exist in this game.

So here we are, get back to the base of the game when you play the killer :
Tunnel when you can
If you have decided to not camp (for unknow reason) and that somebody is unhooked by another survivor, and that you see the two of them : always go for the wounded one. Indeed, a wounded player take only one hit to down otherwise the healthy one who take two hits instead. So it is more easy (and less time waster) to go to the guy who had just been unhooked. (In fact it's tips that you can apply in everything in life : always go the the weakest link, it's always more easy).

Beside, tunnel on hook allow you to give the survivor another death tiers, and it's very rewarding if you have a mori or if he was in tier 2 (P2) before (cause he will be out the match the second you gonna hook him again).

And let no forget an important strategy point, a war is also a matter of psychology. If you hook again a survivor who had been just unhooked 5 secondes ago, there is a chance the survivor will be discourage to stay in the match, and let himself die ou rage-quit. It's a point that you should consider like you will see in the second chapter of this guide (and since tunnel is allowed by devs).

The ultimate proof that is a pro tips is when you ask a killer who don't focus what's reward he got for not tunneling (they don't answer, indeed there is no gain to not tunnel, only lost).

Beside you don't want to have pitty with survivor. When a guy is unhooked, does he go back to the generator he have precedently finished at 50% or does he start a new one ? They have no respect for you so do the same : go for the guy you have already downed at 50% otherwise to go for a new (healthy) one.
A survivor who disconnected is a great thing for you
Often, I see streamers who say "damn, they are only 3, feels bad", in a disappointed tone. They should rather said ""damn, they are only 3, it's marvellous!" in a happy tone. Indeed, less they are, easier and better the game will be for you. A disconected survivor can't do gen, save teamates, waste your time when you chase him, or do totems : so there is only advantage for you (no a single disadvantage). So be happy the next time you will see that that there is only 3 or 2 survivors against you. (So in the killer mode you want to play in order to give them the least possible enjoyement and hope for push them to disconect or give up).
After downed everybody, stay near the last survivor
There are three cases if you had menage to down/slug everybody on the ground :

- You menaged to down everybody before two generators are done (and nobody is the obsession) : in that case, you can try to hook everybody, but do that one survivor by one, and you have to stay in front of every survivor you hook until they go in tiers 2 (P2) cause otherwise they can kobe (jump themself of the hook). If you didn't stayed in front of them, you can't insta-down them and hook them again if they kobe.

- You menaged to down everybody before two generators are done (and somebody is the obsession) : in that case, just let them die on the ground. "Obsession" mean that at least one of them have "Desisive Strike", but they can't strike you if you don't take them on yours shoulders. Since not two generators are done, you are sure they will all die (since there isn't a hatch).

- You menaged to down everybody but a least two generators are done : in that case, you have to follow the last survivor you downed on the ground. Yes, you can't hook him before the others bleed out on the ground cause otherwise he will scuicide on the hook for give the hatch to the others (and you don't know where the others are if you don't have the perk for it). So if you follow the last survivor you downed, you are sure the other will bleed out (and die) before him (so they can't escape by the hatch), and since you had follow him, you know where he is after the other had died and you can take him on your shoulder for hook him. (Note that this method also counter "Unbreakable" Bill's perk for the guy you follow on the ground, cause if he get up you can insta down him).
Camping is a solution
Camping is not only allowed by dev', but is also not toxic (indeed all camping do is only prevent unhook, nothing else). So if had not decided to camp straight up at the game started (which is a bad strategy btw, you have more chance to win if you hardcore camp) and you see during the game that there is finally no way for you to hook everybody 3 times, you had to camp otherwise you will do 0 kill.

If you want to know more about camp, I invite you to go read my others Steam guide (it's top quality guides about the subject, somebody even tell me in the commentary that he became a "billionaire living on a yacht" after reading them!) :

(Yes I know there is an error in my text, camping is not really a solution, it is THE solution).
Carry somebody to the hatch is not a great idea
Indeed, if you carry somebody to the hatch there is a great chance that this man jump in the hatch and escape. You choosed to play the killer, so your goal is to kill, and if they escape you can't kill them. So why we still see steamers who do that? It's ruin the game. As a killer you gain absolutly nothing to do that : you only loose points, you potentially loose a pip, and most important : you loose the match. You can even loose viewers (if they come to see a killer streamer, they come to see the death of the survivor, not their escapes).
Bonus : a survivor tips
When you play against Leatherface, well it's not a good idea to run for X gen, cause if the killer start to think that he lost to much time in a way that he can't hope to hook somebody 3 times, you can be sure he will facecamp you cause it's he only way to kill somebody. So if you play against a Leatherface, the best strategy break the chase before its too late and let the killer hook you.
Bonus 2 : a second survivor tips
When you are only two survivor remaining and there is more than one generator remaining, the best thing to do is to look for the hatch and wait your teamate start a generator (don't worry, he will if you wait long enough) and be catch by the killer. If it's the case, ABOVE ALL, let him on the hook/ground, you need him to die for the hatch gets open.
Bonus 3 : a third survivor tips
Play Claudette! She have the best outfits for blend with the scenery and is almost invisible to the killers eyes. Never use red outfit, Legacy one, or other things which not blend with the surrunding, it's stupid and we take that for a provocation. Beside, since Meg and Bill players are often the more brainless in the game (it's not for nothing we talk of "Megheads"), you want to play Claudette (the most tryharder players) since a good killer will first focus on the weakest players (since they are more easy to kill, like explained before in this guide).

Well, now the basics of DBD have no more secret for you!

Players have their own playstyles and rules they follow while playing for example not to camp, tunnel, don't initiate hatch standoffs etc. Some do play strictly to win but after spending 1k+ hrs in game especially if you're a content creator you have to come up with new things to keep yourself and your audiance entertained as well as to create and maintain a positive image and moral that your fans will likely follow. Having fun and playing logically aren't always the same.
