How to Boost FPS [NVIDIA] [ICEBORNE READY]
By Drop Out Candy
This is a guide to get more FPS for your potato PC

For those current gtx, rtx, and amd users that need a boost of fps with their beefier hardware, I would like to apologize in advance that I cannot help you beyond this point.

This guide is particularly specified for those with outdated graphics cards that need a boost of fps by any means necessary

and by any means necessary I mean POTATO GRAPHICS MOBILE LEGENDS TYPE OF GRAPHICS

So yeah, enjoy the guide regardless.

Dont forget to rate this up to let the people know that there is a solution to everything

Here's my hardware if anyone's interested:

GPU : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M
CPU : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60Ghz
Memory : 16 GB ram

Step 1 : Get nvidia inspector
NVIDIA Inspector is a handy application that reads out driver and hardware information for GeForce graphics cards. The tool is basically an nVIDIA only OverClocking application, you can set your clocks and fan speeds.

It basically goes in depth with your graphics settings, giving you more options to turn off uneeded graphics

download here : https://nvidia-inspector.en.lo4d.com/
Step 2 : Looking for the game to edit

Find it, it's not that hard
Step 3 : Editing the Files

Now that you've got your profile, you'll probably be overwhelmed with the amount of options that you can edit.

But don't be fooled, some edits can probably ruin the compatibility of your game, causing it to not run at all (Thankfully, there is an option to reset your edits with a click of an icon, but I ain't here to tell you that.)

So now, with the edits: (Some values you should probably ctrl + c)

I'll put them in most important > optional

Antialiasing - Transparency Supersampling : AA_MODE_REPLAY_MODE_ALL

Texture Filtering - LOD Bias (DX) : 0x00000030 [The more this value is increased, the more garbage your game would be]

Texture Filtering - Driver Controlled LOD Bias : On [LOD Bias won't work without this on]

Maximum pre-rendered frames : 4

Vertical Sync : Fast Sync

Texture Filtering - Quality : High Performance

Multi-display/Mixed-GPU acceleration : Single Display Performance Mode

Power manage mode : Prefer Maximum Performance

Texture Filtering - Anisotropic Filter Optimization : On

Texture Filtering - Anisotropic Sample Optimization : On

Threaded Optimization : On

Shadercache : On

Anisotropic Filtering Setting : Off [Point]
Step 3.5 : Using Nvidia Control Panel

First go to your taskbar and right-click on the geforce icon, then click on nvidia control panel.

1.) Click on Manage 3D Settings

2.) Click on Program Settings

3.) Select "Monster Hunter : World" as the program to customize

4.) Change the Following:

Anisotropic Filtering - Off

Antialiasing Mode - Off

Antialiasing Setting - None

Antialiasing Transparency - Off

CUDA - GPUs - All

Maximum pre-rendered frames - 4 (This is to prevent your game from dipping in frames)

Optimize for Compute Performance - On

Power Management Mode - Prefer Maximum Performance

Shader Cache - On

Texture Filtering Anisotropic Sample Optimization - On

Texture Filtering Negative LOD bias - Allow

Texture Filtering Quality - High Performance

Texture Filtering Trilinear Optimization - On

Threaded Optimization - On

Triple Buffering - Off

Vertical Sync - Off

Step 3.5.2 : Rollback your graphics driver [OUTDATED 1/10/2020]
Error 12 is an ongoing problem for most of the players in the PC update

But there have been solutions to it including rolling back to a previous driver update

This is one of the discussions and the fix to it

Link to Driver 398.36 (Windows 10)[www.nvidia.com]

Link to Driver 398.36 (Windows 7, Windows 8)[www.nvidia.com]

Reports suggest that it fixes the problem, and you might get a little more fps to boot

As of 8.15.18, this rollback driver fix is effective.

As of 9.14.18, there is a new driver update for nvidia 399.07
no problems so far
Step 3.5.3 : FPS Limit
Set it to 60 fps.

For some reason, if your fps goes over the limit, for some reason it causes the game to create seizures in your cpu resulting in your fps to drop down like crazy

setting it so 60 fps will guarantee that your 60hz monitor is refreshing like normal.

You honestly don't need the extra frames, this isn't an fps game.
Step 4 : Results [TO BE UPDATED]

This is what it looks like in a 1270 x 768 resolution in a 16:9 monitor

Used to have 50+ fps with constant fps with the default settings

With the changes you're probably sure to get 60 fps stable w/o v-sync

told you it was cursed

I've been waiting for him to make a video about this, it involves changing your LOD Bias and removing unnesecary graphics like motion blur and the like

That is quality of PS2 MH on 2018 MH, why I haven't found this guide until now?

@Afeiqa , if the recent updates didn't break nvidia inspector, it should still work.

Is this still relevant?

Wow this guy is a bit of a dick isn't he? Not only that, but I can play Ark at 60 FPS on mid-high settings, meanwhile MHW plays at 20-45 on low settings.
I meet the min reqs for the game.
I have a GTX 970.
Nothing this guy told me to do helped at all, I saw maybe a 3 FPS boost, and he's an asshole.
Seriously F*ck this guy.

Looked high and low on the forums for ingame settings and only managed to get between 25 - 40 FPS at best on my below average laptop. With your Control Panel settings I got about 5 frames more. Add a 30 FPS limit and I can play this game without my eyes bleeding.
To think, MGSV looks better and runs at 50 FPS without me doing anything to it.:steamsad:

I notice that your game looks garbled. I dealed wth that same issue on 1366x768 and I can help you with that. The game is not able to render natively at that resolution, so you only have two choices: exclusive full screen with GPU overriding of aspect ratio to "no change", or windowed mode. Borderless windowed mode stretches it to 1366x768 and that's why it looks like crap.

I've resigned to just playing in windowed at 1280x720 to get that crispy native resolution pixels, but the other solutions work too.

Or you can buy a wiiU+MH3U for 150$ since you clearly don't want to upgrade your 10 years old computer.
