Craig (My father) truck accident on Princes Hwy near Lara in Melbourne.

A semi driver fell asleep at the wheel and hit dad at 110kms, dad was stationary on the side of the freeway in a street sweeper truck, no seatbelt as he had just jumped into the truck after checking the water + in dual control vehicle he isn't required to wear it while seeping. Semi driver was killed instantly unfortunately, and our sincerest condolences to his family for their loss.

Dad was pulled from the cabin by a passing truck driver, and dragged free as his truck caught on fire. The impact spit dads truck almost in half, popped the cabin open in the up position & slammed it into the ground as the truck spun across the freeway. The truck had two engines in it and the second engine in the sweeper was up against the main engine...... bad stuff, but he survived.

2 months in hospital recovering with multiple injuries, shattered leg, broken arm, ribs, bruising all over and bruising on the brain which has resulted in some minor memory loss, he now has a titanium rod and his leg was patched up with micro surgery. They removed muscle and skin from his thigh and used it to rebuild his shin. He has a big lump the size of his fist on his leg now, but other than that he's fine.

The worst of it was that after the third operation, his, lungs collapsed and he was in intensive care for 4 days on a ventilator and induced coma. After that he had what they called drug induced dementia which lasted for a week. I wont get into it, but he was basically in another world and sometimes couldn't even recognise us..... Scariest time of my life ever.
