Fixing the Energy Orb Effect
By Fiopon
"Energy Orb doesn't work in SFM, nothing works!"

You're right, it doesn't work in the default state, but about nothing working?

Theres a pretty simple fix for it.

DISCLAIMER: It will NOT look the same as it does In-Game, but because Source Filmmaker does not have this particle parameter, this is the closest we can get until Source Filmmaker's engine gets updated!
Steps
So without further ado, here is how you can fix it.

Step One:
Spawn the Energy Orb particle.

Step Two:
Right Click the particle in the Animation Set Editor and click "Instance Particle System"

Step Three:
Right Click the particle in the Animation Set Editor again and hover over "Edit Particle System Definition" and when the submenu opens, click "weapon_unusual_energyorb_[yourweaponnamehere]"

Now a new window will open up and you will see some complicated-looking stuff, don't be intimidated.
Don't worry, just do what the guide tells you and try not to mess with too much if you don't know what you're doing.

Step Four:
In the new window, on the left look for the submenu of "System Properties" called "Renderer" and then click on "render_animated_sprites"

Step Five:
Now, the window with the light yellow text and textboxes should change. Scroll through and find the yellow text that says "orientation_type"

Step Six:
The number in the textbox to the right of "orientation_type" should be 3 by default. Change this number to 0 and press enter.

Step Seven:
In the black box with a grid floor, you should now something grey. If not, I don't know what else you changed, but change it back!

Step Eight:
Click "Accept" in the bottom right. This will close the window and apply your changes to the particle.

Step Nine:
The particle has 7 bones. Put the bone "transform" where you want the effect to start, then move "controlPoint5" where you want it to stretch to.

Step Ten:
You're done! As you can see, it isn't exactly like it is in Team Fortress 2, but thats only because the orientation_type 3 is a type that allows the particle to rotate itself any way it wants to, rather than face the camera. orientation_type 3 has not been added to Source Filmmaker, which is saddening but there's nothing we can really do!

Thank you for reading, hope you make awesome posters!

Nevermind, found the textures on the workshop. Thank you for the guide, it helped a lot!
On the side note though, sfm seems to crash every time I try to load the isotope particles, so if anyone has a fix for those... please help, iouno

Well the particles are displaying, but they're missing the textures, even after I updated all particles and materials (several times for good measure). Anyone knows a way to fix this? Please?
