Guide - Enable the Steam overlay

1. Right click on Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus in your game library
2. Click 'properties'
3. Click 'Set launch options...'
4. Copy and paste everything from INSIDE the parantheses, do NOT copy the quatation marks
" +r_disableSteamOverlay 0 "
5. Click 'OK'


Enjoy the re-enabled Steam overlay.

If you experience any crashes when trying to access the Steam overlay, delete the launch option. I haven't personally had any crashes using the overlay but some have.

UPDATE: The developers have now published a patch for Steam Beta users that re-enabled the Steam overlay. It was probably disabled for a reason, so it might cause issues for some users. After the game has been updated you should probably remove this launch option.

This works, however attempting to open overlay while in a cutscene or playing causes the game to freeze. You can only open overlay after pressing escape first.

Hey, I only just stumbled onto this game and looked through the guides section. I still, under any circumstances, can NOT ever enable Steam's overlay while W2 is active. Not on the main screen, not on the current save file screen, nor in-game. A good friend cost me a promising Mein leben run so it's pretty damn frustrating. If you can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate any help in resolving this. (or maybe they just haven't released a damn fix yet haha)

@R4NKEDNUB I'm using the Metro skin for Steam, it's pretty straightforwarded to install if you google the name

Why does your steam looks so "modern" ? I don't know how to describe it. Like the font, the windows, etc.

@Everyone If you've installed the 10/31/17 game update (or the previous Steam BETA game update) you can go ahead and remove this launch option as Steam overlay is now officially re-enabled. Thank you for the ratings and keep on taking nice screenshots! :)

The game just updated, now allows to open overlay without this launch parameter. But thanks anyway!
